I have ... moreseen an ad specifically for these chairs dated from 1934. There was also a matching sofa which I don't have, and the original colors were a bright blue and bright red- very much primary colors. Though a matching set from the same suite, each chair is slightly different in the upholstery details with piping and pleating. These chairs are the ultimate in Art Deco furniture! Both chairs still have the identifying Nemmer brass tag on their backs signifying that the mohair fabric is original(though not in the best shape) The fabric is faded and has wear. I have shown a picture of the worst wear on each chair in the last group of photos. The construction on these chairs is still excellent. They are solid and heavy. This is a quote from a Nemmer ad which I found online from 1930- Every Suite has Nemmer's Exclusive Patent Metal Bottom. No Webbing- No Slats. This bottom will last a lifetime. They weren't lying- these chairs are of a solid. Sturdy construction. A 1960 Nemmer ad reads, Custom- crafted in Nemmer's factory at 20 Avery St. by long-time employees, highly experienced, using only quality wood, filling, springs, and other components—featuring our patented, light-weight metal bottom—all made to last for years and years. Each chair has a wood embellishment on each arm and sits on 4 grooved wooden feet. Overall, these chairs are in excellent internal and external structural condition- the ribbing, wood sections and detailed upholstery piping and pleating is still incredible. The mohair fabric itself is definitely worn. Fully Restored Authentic Original Vintage '30s French Bomber Leather Club Chair
Whoa! Stop here and admire the enticing great looks of this dynamite vintage French club chair. Completely resurrected from the ground up. This chair offers an extreme handsome appearance mated with uber awesome comfort. If you have never experienced a true vintage French example, then you're in for an amazing treat. Different shapes and sizes, leather and cloth are available but, one thing remains, unbelievable and unmatched comfort. I will not lie, this fine chair was a wreck when it arrived, springs bulging, ratty dried up crumbly leather and so on. My buyer could however. See the forest through the trees and I'm so glad he did. This waterfall style example is not only eye catching but, is so comfortable, you'll be dozing in no time. My own in-house conservation team took this basket case on with skilled intentions to breathe ... morenew life into this poor chair. Done so well, that many a novice would think it authentically old due to its buttery soft distressed black bomber leather upholstery. Unfortunately it wasn't just that easy. Many man hours were spent on this chair to get it to where it sits today. We disposed of the original crumbly leather, removed the worn out springs and horsehair and were finally able to thoroughly check the carcass. We found loose joints, so we cleaned them of the old glue and reglued them all, we even added gusseted corner blocks to ensure a long life. My expert upholstery team then took the now rock solid and sturdy frame as their blank canvas. They constructed a new base platform, installing new webbing, 8 way hand-tied springs and new sterile horsehair before moving to the arms. The arms and back also receive new horsehair before any leather or fabric can be applied. Once the desired upholstery has arrived. The upholsterer's get to measuring and cutting their medium. This antique Victorian mahogany wood carved parlor chair is beautiful and in overall very good condition for its age. It is upholstered in ivory jacquard fabric(lighter than ivory color. But not quite white) and has original brass tacking. The chair is 40" high from floor to top of carved back; 18" high from ground to seat, 34" wide from arm to arm and 22.5" deep(seat depth) The wood frame of chair has light wear. Given its age and consistent with its antique status, on carved arms, feet and along wood frame at base and can easily be polished up. There is a very small gap between wood pieces along top right hand wood frame(see photo) due to aging, but does not interrupt use of the chair and is not detected unless you look for it. I would imagine this is not the original fabric and was reupholstered somewhere along the ... moreway by prior owner. I acquired it from the estate of an older women(in her 90s) who had not used it much in her living room. The piece has no stains, smells or wear outside of what has been detailed. These 2 chairs are in remarkable condition with only very minor wear. And I cant stress minor enough. I was going to take these outside and snap some pictures of them because the inside pictures just don't do the chairs justice. They are of the victorian revival era, circa 1930's or a tad bit earlier. They were my grandma's and they just don't fit well in any of my rooms here. The dimensions of the chairs, bigger one first, 42" high at the tallest spot, 34" at the widest spot in the arm rest area. The shorter is 35" to the highest point and 36" wide in the arm rest area. Beautiful Antique Hollywood Regency Club Chair
This beautiful club chair would be the perfect addition to any home. It has intricate light wood carving featuring curved riveted arms. Leaves, and scroll work.
