Charming antique child's or youth's oak spindle back chair made by Heywood Brothers& Wakefield Furniture Company with turned legs and spindles and a cut out handle on the top of the back for ease of moving and carrying and what seems to be the original cane seat. Although we placed this listing under furniture from 1800-1899 we are not really sure of its age and it is possible it was made in the early 1900s. The company name on the label under the seat would date this chair to anywhere between 1897 and 1921(when the name was changed slightly and the"brothers" dropped) Heywood-Wakefield makes very good quality furniture and has been around since 1826(Heywood) and 1855(Wakefield) The two companies made similar types of furniture and merged in 1897. The chair is very sturdy with no loose joints; however. Nice condition for its age. NO broken wood, the finish has a old lacquer finish, and has some wear on rear inch of rocker, and a little shard clipped from runner which can be glued down. Beautiful oak folding high chair or rocking chair. This high chair is in wonderful original condition. And has the clever design that it has been built with that will permit the chair to be adjusted up and down making the chair into a rocker when in the lowest position and the high chair in the upright position. The rattan/wicker seat/backing is in great condition, no broken pieces. Approx. measurements: When the chair is fully extended it is 40" tall, folded it is 27" This piece dates to 1900 and there are no markings on it. The tray is also missing but it still makes a great little chair. I'm sure the spindles could use a bit of tightening up.

It appears there may have been some type of repair at one time because square head nails may have been replaced with round head nails in some areas; unless, of course, the original nails that were used were just whatever was on hand at time of its production. It appears to have some minor cracks and the seat and bottom underside of the seat seem to have some age cracks or what I would describe as maybe dryness; otherwise, it's very solid and weighs approximately 8 lbs. This is a wonderful antique childs ice cream chair. This is a heart back made with copper and twisted copper legs. The seat has been replaced with a piece of paneling and needs replacing. This chair has been packed away out in our barn for many years and desperately needs cleaning. The copper has oxidized in several places. The chair is 23" tall and the seat is 12" from the floor. Another one of my estate sale Relics. The chair is estate fresh and needs a detailed cleaning. The chair is wooden.And i would guess 1950's era. The chair measures 28in tall x 13in at the seat. The chair is a well made piece of american woodwork,and could easily last another 100 years if taken care of. The Varnish has crackled and gotten gooey at one point,and there is blanket fibers stuck to the old varnish. I think a light cleaning would make the piece sparkle again. This child's training potty chair and pot was used in the family around the early 1900's. Original gloss varnish is seen under the paint that is crackling and chipping off- Great Patina! It is 23 1/2" tall. About 12 1/2" wide and 12" deep. The hole is 5 1/2" across. The porcelain pot is 9" across and 5" tall. There is some rust around the handle and at the bottom inside of the pot but does not leak. The only damage on the chair is on the top rail rung which is cracked at the second back post. Still it is a sturdy old piece of hand made Americana children's furniture and very cute. We now use it for a doll seat.
