The original bottom was coming loose from tray, and was cracked, so to make this trunk as fully functional as possible I thought it best to do it right! The inside of the trunk has been stripped clear of the inside paper. This is great b/c it gets rid of all old smells many old trunks hold it also makes the trunk free of many allergens the trunk has been left natural. This is so you may either leave it as is, or do it the way that suits you best. Trunk would be great as storage. At the end of a bed, as a toy chest, a coffee table, or come up with a fabulous original idea all your own: excellent condition. And will make a great gift for christmas! ANTIQUE VTG FLAT TOP STEAMER TRUNK - VICTORIAN PIRATE CHEST RESTORED REFINISHED
Up for sale is this beautiful refinished antique flat top steamer trunk/victorian pirate chest with tray. It measures 28 1/2" long by 18" wide and 11 1/2" tall. The original canvas that wrapped this trunk has been removed and the wood was sanded. Stained then sealed with of spar urethane. The interior has been redone with a newer fabric liner at some point in this trunk's history- it has some wear and blemishes but overall it is in very good condition. This trunk is a great decor piece that is functional for storage, hope chest, files, etc. Ask if you have any questions and thank you for looking.

BEST RESTORED ANTIQUE STEAMER TRUNK VALISE VICTORIAN JENNY LIND STAGECOACH CHEST
You would have to look hard to find a better restored origianl Genny Lind stagecoach trunk. This mid 1800s trunk has had a great restoration including new leather straps and buckles on the outside. Lovely quilted interior. And beatiful restoration of the tooled leather covering. And it does not smell! On the interior it still sports the wood restraining flap that would allow you to fill that side of the trunk and then close it without everything falling out. See the last 2 photos Petite size approximately 20" long. 13.5" wide and 9" deep. A kind and knowledgeable ebayer just added this info. the actual name for one of these is a valise. They used to put that on many of the old labels. Such as trunk, valise, and carpet bag manufacturer. condition. Overall a great looking trunbk but it is about 150+ years old. the hinges have ... morebeen replaced and work perfectly. The lock in not functional but it closes fine. Some of the leather is loose, mostly noted on one side. Beautiful Victorian Era Steamer Trunk. This trunk has been conserved or restored. Has had quite a bit of work, but the only thing that has been added& isn't original to this trunk are the leather handles. Everthing else is original to this particular trunk The trunk had 3 coats of paint that were removed from its exterior. Afterward it is was polished witha metal polish, there is still some patina, after 100 plus years it is almost impossible to remove all of that with just cloth and polish lol The paint was light green and off white. In certain places small remnants of the paint may remain. Without damaging the surface of the trunk it is very hard to totally get it all off. Also I think it adds to the already very rustic beautiful charm of the trunk. It is important to note the color variations you see in the pics on the metal ARE ... moreNOT paint. This is actually a pattern in the metal. One the end pieces I think it is patina and discoloration. But the middle piece on lower portion, and next to end pieces on top, I think it is the way the metal is made. It is very beautiful, and seems purposefully placed There is very gorgeous and unique hardware. There are little flower or star shaped medallions on top of trunk and on the front of trunk The wooden slats have been sanded stained and finished The handles were replaced with strips of 100% leather Interior of trunk was stripped of all inside paper. It has been left natural wood so new owner may leave as is. Or finish out to suit their needs best. One of the most unique things about this trunk is the locks on either end of trunk. 1800's CIRCA ANTIQUE RESTORED CAMELBACK DOME TRUNK VERY NICE
VERY NICE 1800's era Antique Restored Camelback Dome Trunk. Has been restored with orginal designed stamped metal on the outside. The wood around it is in great shape. Stained and sealed. The hinges that holds the lid are in great shape with the exception of 1 that needs to be replaced. There is no key with this trunk. Orginal latches and lock on the front of trunk. The leather handles are new leather and replaced. There is a slight scrape in the metal on the back side of trunk but not noticable from front. Two leather side handles have their original wear and really emphasize the age and history of this piece. The inside of the lid has a charming decoupage design. The inside of the trunk has been stripped clear of the inside paper. Alligator Embossed Steamer Trunk 1890-1910 This is a versatile and attractive trunk from the turn of the century. A solidly constructed steamer made of wood, trimmed with embossed alligator tin, and featuring a lid with only a slight arc. It’s 34 inches wide, 19 inches front to back, and 22.5 inches tall– a perfect complement to any rustic decor. The trunk is constructed of a pine box with hardwood slats across the top and two slats on the front and back. It has new thick black leather handles and a new lid stay– otherwise in original condition. The alligator pattern has been refinished in a rich. Reddish brown that is darker than it may appear in the flash photos. Although there is no evidence of its manufacturer. Rare Antique Maier Oak Slat Beveled Top Trunk, Vintage, Restored, Tray & Key!
Here is the trunk for your collection! This beautiful rare trunk was made by Martin Maier& Company of Detroit from the 1885 to 1895 period. Based on the actual dates of manufacture of the hardware. If you see a trunk with this type latch it was not made in the 1870's as many other sellers state. Because they were patented in 1882 and used into the late 1890's. I do extensive trunk research. Size: 30" wide. 22 1/2" tall, 20" front to back. A fabulous rare size, great for many uses! Very few Martin Maier slat trunks are found and even fewer flat tops with the beveled corners such as this one. This style was advertised in one of their catalogs as a"Rustic" trunk covered entirely with hardwood slats. Superior quality and based on the Excelsior trunk patent of 1868. Which most people now call Oak Slat Trunks ... moreor Victorian slat trunks. Maier established his trunk company in 1865 after serving in the Civil War. This special trunk is not common in any way! Martin Maier& Co developed their distinctive narrow slat alternating color style trunks and they are very hard to find in such good condition. These are made of hardwood strips of oak or elm and another darker wood, over an all wood body. These trunks were made to be impressive and were more expensive to make than the ordinary metal, leather, or canvas covered trunks. That's probably why they are so rare today. The special corner"lid stay" hinges are marked Pat'd April 1879 and were patented by Martin Maier too! The front catches were patented in 1882. All of the trunk's hardware is in good condition and the wood has no breaks or missing wood. No sand blasting, sanding, or polyurethane coating has been done on this trunk exterior as some other restorers do. The trunk has a very smooth finish, which is hand rubbed tung oil, the finest antique furniture finish. The interior is also beautiful with a large Victorian chromolithograph, and the Maier label! The original canvas that wrapped this trunk has been removed and the wood was sanded. Stained with minwax"cherry" then sealed with two coats of spar urethane(light sand in between coats) The interior lining has been removed and the wood was sanded then stained. The Trunk shows obvious aesthetic signs of age but these details give it the perfect patina and look. Rare Antique Gold Rush Stagecoach Trunk, 1860's, tray, key, Restored and Lined
A beautiful and rare stagecoach or"gold rush" style American trunk made from about the mid 1860's to 1870. It measures 31 1/2 inches wide. 20 inches tall, 18 inches deep. Made of thick pine with metal banding and hardwood slats, attached with dozens of large brass buttons! A fabulous and impressive looking trunk which is very hard to find with six bands and in such great condition. The original lock is complete with the fancy brass cover and working key. The handles are the original style, sliding arrow design, attached with the original holders and brass buttons. A new all wood tray was made which makes the trunk much more useful inside. It was thoroughly cleaned out and relined with nice quality fabric in blue and off-white colors. I preserved the original large lithographed picture in the lid, which shows a lady on horseback ... moreand her dog! The bottom is in great condition and has the original metal rollers. A nice high rounded top which allows for more storage inside and gives it a great look. A real piece of American history and very useful in the home. Up for sale is this beautiful restored large antique victorian roll top steamer trunk with key. It measures 35" long by 22 1/4" wide and 25" tall. The original canvas that wrapped this trunk has been removed and the wood was sanded. Stained with minwax"cherry" then sealed with two coats of spar urethane(light sand in between coats) The interior lining has been removed and the wood was sanded then stained. The trunk shows obvious aesthetic signs of age but these details give it the perfect patina and look. The structure of this trunk is solid and it is functional as a coffee table, blanket chest, etc. A great piece with tons of character that will be the focal point of any room. The trunk is marked on the top front slat with the letters L.A.N.E. R.R. These tyrunks were used by highly placed railroad executives while traveling. We bought this trunk from the estate of a well known local restorer of antique trunks. The trunk has been restored on the outside to a rich honey brown color. Alligator Embossed Steamer Trunk 1872-1900 This slightly domed trunk with simulated alligator“hide” dates from 1872 to 1900 based on its patent dates and appointments. It is constructed of pine box framing with horizontal hardwood slats. The decorative tin is embossed with an alligator pattern and the trunk is secured with steel. Tin and brass hardware. Although its exact age is undetermined. The trunk’s hasp hardware shows a patent date of July 9, 72. Therefore, it’s fair to estimate from its overall construction and appointments that this steamer probably was manufactured between 1872 and 1900. A unique feature of this trunk is that the two front hasps have small levers that allow the lid to be secured in the closed position. The lock tongue is missing, and was not replaced in the restoration, but the lock plate when cleaned revealed brilliant ... morebrass details. This trunk is lightweight and measures 24 inches long. 14 inches wide, and 15 inches high at its crown. In the refinishing. The plain paper that lined the interior and lid was removed and the inside was cleaned, sanded and finished with two coats of clear satin polyurethane to preserve the natural color of the pine. A new floor of cedar was installed and a new tray was built and stained Early American. The exterior was refinished by sanding and wire brushing the tin. Then treating it with rust inhibitor and painted with Rustoleum Satin Black. The hardwood slats were cleaned, sanded, and finished with tung oil, with steel wool between coats to enhance the finish. The embossed“alligator” tin was cleaned and wiped with Minwax Dark Walnut stain to restore its original finish. It was then sealed with tung oil to create its natural look. Old Victorian Small Steamer Dome Trunk Signed on Buckles Pat. Mar. 1888 History as Follows: Gorgeous unique piece measuring 2 feet wide by 13 inches-deep-13 inches high. Used for travel. Original dome shape steamer trunk history as follows: Made in 1888 and later in the deco period it was painted restored as shown in photos. Very unique with handpainting outside to match the inner lining of calico red which may have been already in there from the Victorian era as they lined the bottom with Newspaper from the later fashion days. The red paint was painted over the slight marks on top that was used during the 1800's so it is determined the painting décor and bottom was done around the 1920's. Original beautiful hardware buckles signed PAT: MAR.1888. Shiny excellent gold in great condition. Closes with original closure just has middle ... moremissing but has been like that almost 100 years as you can see. Side handles excellent with wheels on bottom. This is ca.1830 restored Antique Deer Skin Ladies travel trunk. It is 18"x 11"x 9"tall and weighs 7 lbs. The basic trunk is made of pine. The original deer hide was in such poor condition that it had to be removed. It was recovered with new deer skin with leather strapping and brass tacks per the original. It has hand forged handles and lock with a working Key. It would also make a great Doll Trunk. The interior is covered with a floral print and includes a lovely lithogragh. Beautiful 1890's Antique Steamer Trunk Very nice larger sized antique trunk from the 1880's- 1890's. This trunk has been 100% professionally restored and is absolutely beautiful. The hardware and metal banding has all be cleaned and polished with a wire wheel and really looks nice against the oak slats and pine body. The top has a slight dome to it so this is not a true flat top trunk. Very solid trunk all around. Heavy wood construction, thick metal banding, hardware, and accents. Very nicely built, hinges are strong, all hardware is included. This trunk has more decorative hardware than your typical trunk from this period and the"fingers" that wrap all the corner edges really add a nice touch. Solid brass lock and super heavy duty#5 latches, which are somewhat rare. This trunk was most likely built for someone with ... moregreater means that the average person of that time period. For sale today is a very nicely restored medium size curved top trunk and the restoration turned out just great. I found one patent date on the trunk. The patent date the latches is 1872 which makes this great old trunk as much as a140 years old- a true antique. This trunk was structurally sound when the restoration started and the bottom is solid. Has the two original slats, the metal has multiple coats of clear applied. There are three original hinges that are heavy duty,fancy, tight, polished and the work well. The original center lock has been polished and there is no key. There are 55 plus pieces of polished hardware on the trunk. Two new black leather latches were installed. The interior is original and is very good condition especially since this trunk is well over a 100 years old. There are 59 polished nail covers on the trunk. This dome top camel back steamer trunk circa 1800s has been beautifully restored outside. The interior remains as original. For 40 years at least this trunk has stored extra items in a guest bedroom. Beautiful old travel chest- completely refinished with top coat of poly for easy cleaning. Very close to flat- you can set cups or whatever on top but if you want to put a glass top on it won't work- slight 1/8" difference between center and edges. Measures 24" tall; 34" long and 21" wide- good size for coffee table or blanket chest. Has original wood tray that was cleaned and left bare. New. Washable wallpaper lining. Beautiful Completely Restored Embossed Metal Antique Toy or Doll Trunk
This Toy trunk is a great size at 14" long. 9" wide, and 10" high. Three wide, grooved hardwood slats on top. Working lock with key, and embossed leather handles. Completely restored interior that duplicates the original design. Now on to the metal. The embossed metal covering has been restored to its original finish. This is NOT Gold paint! The process I used was the same as was done in the late 1800's. The finish is a clear Shellac that has been tinted with Red and Yellow tints derived from the spices Spanish Annatto, and Turmeric. This translucent coating is applied to the polished metal that produces a dramatic and very unique look. Once again this is a level of restoration you will not find from any trunk re-finisher. Beautiful Antique Clinton Wall Trunk You are bidding on a rare Clinton Wall Trunk. Circa 1890's. The trunk has been professionally restored and is beautiful both inside and out. The Clinton Wall Trunk was made by the Clinton Manufacturing Company, located in Clinton, MA. Clinton used a special patented hinge on both ends of the trunk which allowed the trunk to be placed directly against the wall and still fully open. Embossed tin covers the body of the trunk in a grape leaf/grapevine pattern. The interior of the trunk matches beautifully with the outside and has been professionally installed for many years of use and storage. The original matching tray is included. These trunks are very rare and this is an exceptional example of one in excellent restored condition. This trunk will ship by Greyhound bus to the lower 48 because of the size and weight and because it is too expensive to ship UPS or Fedex. For sale today is a very nicely restored large humpback trunk made by George Burroughs and Sons in Milwaukee. WI. I found patent dates of March 1880 on the hardware and June 1881 and July 1885 on the wheels.which makes this neat old humpback as much as 129 years old- a true antique. This trunk has a presence to it. This trunk was in good solid condition when the restoration started and the metal bottom is good. Has had multiple coats of clear applied and has the two original skids. The three original hinges are HD, tight, polished, work well and the lid closes well. The lid stay is original. For sale today is a beautifully restored flat top trunk with smooth metal and would look great at the foot of a bed. I found one patent date on this trunk on the center lock of March 1890 which makes this neat old flat top as much as 124 years old- a true antique. This trunk was structurally sound when the restoration started and the metal bottom is solid. Has multiple coats of clear, two original slats, four original metal wheels and the trunk rolls easily. The three original hinges are HD, fancy,tight and the lid closes well. There are 35 plus polished pieces of original hardware. The Eagle center lock is polished, has a March 1890 patent date and there is no key. The mechanical latches are polished, HD, fancy, tight and work well. Beautifully Restored Victorian Dome Trunk
Beautiful Victorian trunk made of oak. Tin and iron. Leather straps on the side are both intact, which is rare. Inside is untouched-till is present and there is a pocket on top for storage. On four small wheels so it is easy to move around. Has two little flaws that I show in the pictures. Otherwise, it is divine. 28" wide3 x 17 1/2" deep x 19 1/2" tall. Ships Greyhound.
