Product This chair according to the people we purchased it form is NO LESS than 75 years old. Having belonged to their grandparents. We have seen professional auction houses sell these and give the date of circa 1920. Mid Century Modern not quite. But comfortable yes, and exceptional, yes. The exaggerated butterfly wingback style on this chair is very well done. Great legs on this model, like Robsjohn Widdicomb or Drexel style- quite modern for the period it was produced in and departed from the old overly ornate legs of yesteryear. Absolutely original upholstery on this- see photos. And yes, the fabric will need to be replaced. These chairs go for thousands reupholstered. But then you have to get it re-done to suit your decor. You can purchase this chair and have it delivered directly to your reupholster and save time and money. The problem ... morewith purchasing re-upholstered versions is that you do not know the quality of the work, if they were true to the original design(if that matters to you) whether they actually followed all the old seam lines and often they do not use the steel buttons on the fronts- this is all original so you get to decide what happens and how it is done. Beautifully carved floral motif on front center of seat frame, with leaves extending horizontally towards the 2 front legs. The front Cabriole legs are adorned on top with swirling scrolls and finished on the base/feet with whorls. The sides of the 2 front legs are carved in a'la feuille godronnee' style(pieces of leaves or flowers that fold naturally) that continue up the leg connecting to the seat molding on the sides. The rear legs are carved identically to the front. The back molding has the same curved style, but does not have any carved motifs. Antique French Louis XV style Wingback Bergere arm chair circa 1900-1950
Antique French Louis XV Bergere wing back upholstered mahogany parlor arm chair with carved cabriole front legs and hand carved serpentine crest at the top of chair. The chair measures 42" H x 32" W. The cabriole legs are 11" Long and seat measures 19" from the floor to top of cushion and 22" deep and 22" wide' This chair is previously owned and does need some re-upholstering work done due to age of chair this is the original upholstered material on chair and it does need some attention to bring back to it's original state the wood carved arm rest and the wooden crest and structure are in AA+ condition but it is a used chair and will be sold"as is" Seller accepts payment thru pay pal only.

Other than that the chair is in excellent condition with no flaws, cracks or wear of any kind. The surface has the original shiny finish and distinct fiberglass threading. These chairs were used in a doctors office in the 50's until the trends changed in design. I obtained the chairs from the original owner. I also included a picture of the original ad I found on the net for the chair because I was shocked at the price of them $39.50 back in the 1950's wowzza!
