I believe it is solid maple with an Old Pine ... morefinish and probably dates to the 1950s/60s. It has bamboo style turned legs with a barrel shaped midsection and an overall colonial style. Nichols & Stone began making furniture in the 1850s and finally closed up shop around 2008. They have since been reincarnated under the Stickley name and are available again in some limited forms. Offered are a set of eight Windsor. Revival chairs by Saybolt Cleland Inc. Phila. Pennsylvania probably from the 1930's. All are matching and have no breaks or repairs. The present gray paint is forty years old and the old Salmon color under them was old as well. They are definitely early 20th century. If you like the gray, there is no reason for them to be painted again. The little bit of wear on the occasional chair handle is exactly the Colonial Williamsburg look you want. The gray is one of those of Colonial Williamsburg. I have eight which would be perfect for a boardroom, doctor's office, large dining table, etc. Saybolt& Cleland, Inc. were renowned for unsurpassed quality. Saybolt& Cleland, Inc. made reproduction furniture in Philadelphia for over forty years, 1923 to the mid 1970's. Binghamton Chair Company New York Morris Chairs Antique Windsor Armchair
From my research. The remaining bottom label of this classic, American antique Windsor chair puts its creation between 1880 and the 1920s by the renowned Binghamton Chair Company out of Binghamton, New York. Bow-back, continuous armchair. Signature Windsor turning of arm supports to match turned legs. Distinctive notch on arms. Not positive as to the wood. Company info for the time period suggests mahogany or oak, but I do not think this is oak, so I will guess mahogany. Original dark stain. I have not polished this with any product. Simply wiped down with a dry, soft cloth. Tried to show actual condition all around. A couple of spindle tops need to be put back in but are undamaged otherwise, other wear hopefully visible in pics.

Measurements are as follows: 36” overall height. 18” seat height, overall width 28” seat is 22” w x 17 ½”d, 7 spindles between crest- and arm rail, 11 spindles between arm rail and seat. Front leg spread is 22 ½” outer dimension) The chairs have a warm patina. The chairs are recommended for light use due to their delicate nature and some loose joints. They are marked Old Meetinghouse underneath the seat and based on research they were manufactured by the Winchendon Furniture Corporation founded in 1923 by John H. Murray and his brother Patrick. Until 1935. It was knows as Winchendon Chair Company. Around 1935, they expanded their products to the"Old Meeting House Maple" line, making dining room, living room and bedroom furniture. Saddleseat, American made. height is about 36 inches, width of widest part of seat about 17 inches. I am not an expert on windsor chairs, i am guessing at the age of these from the 1930's or 1940's. the finish on all is pretty rough as you can see in the pictures. light sanding and stain and finish should do the trick to make them comfy for your home, or paint if you like. they are sturdy. notice in pics 2 chairs have nicks or crack, not all the way thru more of surface damage. all chairs have tiny nicks as they must have been well used. sold as is no returns. local pickup only. These are adorable little antique windsor chairs. They are very old and have a few layers of paint on them from a long time past. The wood underneath all seems to be an aged pine or oak. One chair runner has a split as seen in photos. And there is a crack on the top of another that has either never broken, or was glued, but is still very solid. HAMMONTON New Jersey 30 miles from Phila. pa. or at the base of Rt. 206. Up for sale is a SET of 4 original 19th century windsor chairs! Where are you going to find a set? These chairs were bought years ago from an Ida Weber. She bought them at the auction Fred Noyes had in 1952 when he bought the Historic Smithville Inn. These were part of the sets of chairs in the historic inn. Seen in my Windsor book as being made around 1870 and they were designed for restaurants and libraries. Very tight, I use them every day. Oak spindles go through the crest rail and are wedged and pegged as are all the joints. Actually two of them the wood has shrunk around the top of the spindles and the spindles are now about a quarter inch longer than the crest rail.Very neat and a sign of true age. The set of 8 consists of two arm chairs and six side chairs. These are the traditional and much loved Windsor chair design featuring the crinoline stretcher. Hand turned legs, back splat with hand carved Prince of Wales feathers and the saddle shaped seats. They are very comfortable and solid and these are perfect for that rustic cosy farmhouse look. These were made by craftsman at High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire where they have been made using the same materials and skills for centuries. They need some TLC- as they have been well loved over the years and someone has tried to repair them with glue(not sure what kind) and one chair has metal plates on the bottom of the seat. Some of the spindles are loose. I know they can be amazing if the right person. With the right knowledge can put a little time into them. I have no knowledge of furniture repair myself. Pair of Vintage Nichols & Stone Windsor Arm Chairs
Good pre-owned condition with some moderate wear. Scratches and stains. There is a break at the top of one of the spindles of one chair(see pic) and the arm can be pulled up off of its support a little bit so a little wood glue would be in order. Both chairs could do with a new stain and finish job to bring back to new looking but they look pretty good as they are too. 31-1/2" tall.

THEY ARE STRUCTURALLY IN GOOD CONDITION AND COMFORTABLE, THE FINISH SHOWS WEAR. And unfortunately, I just do not have the room for all of them in our new farmhouse. I purchased these for my antique dining table, but they are a little too tall in the arm. I have used them around the house for accent chairs and they are so beautiful. I believe they are from the 1940's, however, I am not sure of their exact age. The wood appears to be oak, again I am not sure. They are very solid heavy chairs. made just like the Stickley brand is known for. They are older and do have all the character marks of furniture their age(scuffs, scratches, nicks, and dings/ one chair has a small spot at the chair rail that I have never been able to figure out if it ... moreis a knot that came loose in the wood, or some sort of wear due to age) Of course it doesn't affect the chairs function or stability but I thought it was worth mentioning) ~ but they are in very good pre owned condition.
