Under the seat fabric is a newer piece of wood for its bottom. There is a crack in the back of the chair that is shown in the last photo which does not go all the way through to the front. It doesn’t appear to have ever been used. It was sitting in the attic. The finish is dark and aged to a lovely patina. I believe the seat is original. It has a dainty carved press back, multi-turn spindles, knuckle arms, multi-turn spindles on the platform base and original castors. This is a great find for those who love original finish antiques. The overall size is 23 inches wide across the arms, 17 inches wide on the seat, 19 inches deep, 40 inches high to the chair back, 26 inches high to the arm and 16 inches high to the seat. The platform has two coil springs that allows the rocking chair top to ride on the platform base.

An early 1900's,4 slat rear mission style solid oak rocking chair. i am not sure if this is a gustav stickley or a piece from another similar manufacturer of the time. The seat is heavy and obviously reupholstered in the native indian motif. This rocker is solid with no loose pieces whatsoever. It does have have some knicks and scratches from use, and will need a good cleaning with some murphys soap, but overall a super fine example. Please ask any and all questions before bidding. How many little ones climbed into this chair in the last century? Look at the wear to the paint on the arms where those tiny hands held on and to the top slat where many a head rested. Child's Solid Oak Rocking Chair Rocker 1920-1950 Early Painted Beautiful Fancy
Here is a beautiful Child's Rocking Chair that dates. I would estimate, from the 1920-1950 period. And is probably American Made(it is not marked anywhere) The chair looks to be machine made. Because of the turnings of the front posts, but it could be partially hand made. It is solid oak. It has been painted 4 times. Possibly originally. There are only scattered chips of paint, but on a couple I was able to determine that the chair has been painted pink(originally? Light blue. Dark green. And this current pea green. In that order. The chair is super strong and could probably hold an adult with a butt small enough to fit into it. The width of the seat is 12 1/2" x 11 1/4" The chair is 21" tall. 15 1/2" wide at the front and 12 1/2" wide at the back. The rockers are 21" long exactly. The arms are nicely cut ... morein kind of a early American style. The back has 2 2" slats and the seat has 5 2" slats; they are not cracked. There is no structural issues with this chair. Please see the Description Section where I go into detail as to condition. The paint has dulled and taken on a nice patina of its own. But this chair has not been painted in decades, and in fact, the tone of the green has a certain" 1950's" coloring to it. As I state in the Description Section. This paint on this chair could be lead base. Or Kemtone. A brand name paint from the 1950's that adhered well and perhaps also had lead in it. For this reason, I would say this chair is more for an adult to decorate with than it is for a child to use. One of the nicest very nice early to mid- 20th Century children's chair you will see. I ship USPS. Fedex, or UPS, depending on which is the most practicable given the item being shipped. This would come Fedex Standard Shipping. Antique Mission Stickley Style Solid Wood Oak Child’s Rocker Rocking Arm Chair
This is another great family piece. This was my grandfather's when he was a young child(born 1907) My late mother kept this chair forever. It has all the original mechanism brackets and bar. I think the cushions are not original. But are very old. They appear to have had buttons on them at one time. Cushions are not perfect, but are still very attractive on the chair. This is a nice one family owner piece with a great look and patina on the original finish. This has been carefully cared for throughout the years. Shows some minor wear being 100 years old and all, but far less than most still original examples that I have seen. The oldest sibling of my father's family in 1914 or so was the 1st user of this chair. We don't have room for it any more. It measures 25 1/4" high. 21" long rocking legs, 14" long arms with a 12" square seat. The seat cover now is a green velour fabric. Originally there was a leather cover for the seat. Under the seat fabric is a newer piece of wood for its bottom. There is a crack in the back of the chair that is shown in the last photo which does not go all the way through to the front. The restorer added two steel straps under the seat to reinforce the rear portion of it. They can only be seen if the chair is turned over. There is a vintage embroidered cushion that is included. The cushion was professionally cleaned recently and filled with new foam filler. This chair is the right size to be used as a"granny" rocker or by an older child. There are six spindles on the back and three spindles plus a main post for each arm. The seat is embossed pressed board and is painted a chocolate brown. VINTAGE ANTIQUE CHILD'S ROCKING CHAIR- OAK WOOD Up for sale is this beautiful child's wooden rocking chair. With a Mission Arts& Craft Flair. There are no markings as to the maker. Age, or origin. I saw a similar chair which was from the 1950's era. The maker J.S. Ford& Johnson Chair Co. Chicago, this is only a guess. As I'm not a collector of rocking chairs you will have to look at the photo's carefully. The rocking chair is well made and is quite sturdy. The craftsmanship is wonderful. The wood looks to be an oak, and it is a medium color stain. This is a vintage child's rocking chair. It was used and does have a few minor blemishes, nothing major. This rocker features the original seat cushion stuffed with straw or excelsior over steel ... moresprings. The seat was re-upholstered with a soft yellow-beige fabric shortly after I acquired it. The three back support panels are quarter-sawn oak. The frame is tight and has a nice finish. There is a small piece of oak missing in the upper portion of the seatback where one of the support panels fits into the top; this is only visible from the rear of the chair. The back of the rocker is about 24.5” in length and stands approximately 37.5” high; the arms are approximately 24” at the widest point and the seat depth is around 18” The twin rockers are approximately 32” in length. Vintage Carved Tufted Leather Back Oak Rocking Chair - Vintage Porch/Deck Rocker
Vintage/Antique Style Oak and Leather Rocking Chair/Rocker. The chair rest on 2 curved pieces of wood with carved spindle side stretchers. 2 spindle center crossing stretchers with a metal stretcher in between, and 4 carved spindle legs. The paneled seat is contoured with one of the panels separating at its seam(pictured) The thick curved arms are supported by a thicker spindle piece in the front and 3 smaller rods between the front piece and the backrest. The backrest consists of a curved black tufted leather piece. Finished with a carved wood top. The leather has 3 rows of tufting and is in vintage condition. The back portion is also covered in leather but has some tears(pictured) The curved top portion is carved with elongated scrolls and rosettes. Great vintage and well preserved rocker.
