Cabriole legs, carved feet and beautifully ... morecarved across the front of the seat as well as the backrest with a shell and flower motif as shown. These two chairs are in very nice condition for their age as represented with multiple pictures. The chairs are both tight and sturdy with strong, tight rush bottom seats that were probably replaced in the latter 20th century. The chairs each stand 38 inches tall to the top of the back and measure 21 1/2 inches wide by 22 inches front to back. The seats are 15 inches in height and are 20 1/2 inches wide by 18 1/2 inches, front to back. The back rest and across front of the seats on the chairs are beautifully carved and appear to have hand turned stretchers. These chairs appear to be made of walnut, with rush bottom seats. There is a delightful Louis VX influence to the design of this wonderful pair of antique French country chairs and are a terrific buy, ready for use in your home or place of business. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING PAIR OF OLD CHAIRS! We are pleased to offer this beautiful pair of antique. Early 20th century, French chairs. These charming arm chairs are in original condition with no updates. They feature lovely(and very quality) fabric upholstery in a white linen/cotton with large, French blue(with a slight silver tone) flowers and leaves. The fabric is tufted on the backs with the seats smooth. The seats are quite wide and deep and have a curved contour in the front sections. The frames, legs and trim are wood. The backs have an inset of cane with deep wood trim. The wood has a pecan finish in a medium brown tone. It is not too grainy so I am guessing it to be a walnut or maple wood. The front legs are contoured with a lovely, elephant ear and trunk silhouette carving(very subtle) The chairs are extremely well constructed and very ... moresturdy. They are in very good antique to older vintage condition. There are some nicks in the wood and some minor evidence of age and use. There is one area of minor separation on the back cane of one chair. The fabric is very good with no areas of wear through or rips, tears, etc. There is one small area of slight staining on the seat of one chair. It is subtle and very difficult to see except upon close inspection. The chairs are elegant and quite lovely. The chairs measure 31" tall. They are 29" wide at the widest seat measurement. Pair of French Louis XV Style Painted Fauteuils Early 20th Century Item# 130008TZU26 A very attractive pair of French Louis XV Style Fauteuils. Each exhibiting all typical elements of the Rococo movement, but clearly with an angularity that speaks of influence from the Art Deco movement. The frame of each chair is painted in a tarnished silver, this delightfully worn away in well used areas, resulting in a nice growing patina throughout. Resting over the trapezoidal seat back. The crest is carved of the solid with several roses that flow outward into the molded frame with foliage, flanked only by pyramid finials draped in acanthus leafage at each corner. These vary in detail, some parts of the finials being of incredible depth and multiple layers of acanthus, while others are somewhat blurry- this is likely accounted for by overpainting at ... moreone point, where too much paint was used and resulted in a"blurring" of what is likely very fine detail beneath the paint. The arms bend out around the round seat in a highly circular movement, the handholds carved with scaled embellishments along the grip and down the arm support. The paint on these mostly worn away to reveal the(presumably) beech frame beneath. The legs have robust acanthus leafage flowing from the knee along the frame as they join the seat. Each foot terminating in scrolled toes in the Louis XV manner. For anyone passionate about the Louis XV style in antique French chairs. This is a simply lovely pair to be actively enjoyed. The upholstery should be replaced in our opinion, though it does seem relatively free of stains. We are pleased to offer this EXCEPTIONAL pair of antique. Early 1900s, French Victorian chairs! These STUNNING chairs feature ornately carved Rosewood frames and beautiful fabric with extensive nailhead trim. The chairs feature exaggerated lines which give them a gorgeous profile. The backs are curved, in Louis XIV style, and have an hourglass appearance from the front and back views. The seats are extremely wide with lovely contoured fronts. The chairs are armless but the wooden frames extend downward in such a manner as to give them the appearance of having small, petite arm rests. The carving of the wood is lovely and features leaves and cherries on the top center frames. Small, French crosses are notched into the frames on each side of the leaf and cherry design. Carved acanthus leaves on the upper sides of the frames give the chairs ... morea subtle, winged" look. The front legs are cabriole with the leaf and cherry carving repeated. The back legs are straight with a subtle curved line. The chairs have GORGEOUS fabric. Though probably not original, it is quite nice and is expertly finished. The fabric is quite interesting and combines floral patterns with large paisley feathers and a beautiful, geometric lantern design. The fabric is quite colorful with hues of cream, tan, blue, green, burgundy and gold. The fabric is accented with extensive nailhead trim on both the front and back. The trim is an antique gold color and is quite striking. The chairs have are overstuffed with ample cushioning. This extends the fabric sections approximately 4" from the frames. The chairs are in very good condition. They are quite sturdy. As with most antique chairs of this period. They are not terribly heavy. We are pleased to offer this EXTRAORDINARY pair of antique chairs. The chairs are French. Louis XV in style. They are generous in size. They feature Canape or Corbeille form frames with an added bonus of asymmetrical backs which give them a Regency flare. The asymmetrical backs are mirrored so that, together, there is a"right" and"left" chair. The backs are extremely interesting. Elongated, tear drop shaped, cane insets punctuate the wood frames(almost as if an exclamation point) not only on the top of the chair backs, but just above the seat as well. The chairs are truly rounded and a unique, carved" faux ring" attaches at the intersection of the back to highlight the curvature. The curvature is extended to the seats as the front profiles of the seats are also contoured. The chairs have cabriole legs with incised/carved ... morepattern. The frames are mahogany wood. They have been, at some point(not by us) painted in gold. They have also been re-upholstered at some point. The fabric is flat woven and a heavy weight blend. It features GORGEOUS, vibrant colors of blue and gold. The fabric has a unique pattern that is plaid but, with the way the colors are arranged, it is also striped. It is perfect with the frames. The fabric is finished with gold trim. The chairs have a whimsical, beach motif fabric used under the seats. It is not visible unless the chairs are turned over. The chairs are in extremely nice condition. The gold paint has been purposefully"aged" and chipped in some areas so that the mahogany is exposed. LIGHTING FRENCH LOUIS XVI STYLE PAINTED ANTIQUE BERGERE ARM CHAIRS Early 20th Century Item# 1405PPC05A This is an exceptional pair of"half-round" French Louis XVI Style Bergeres. Probably crafted during the first quarter of the 20th Century and clearly by a firm of great skill. The crest is carved of the solid rail, not an applied motif, the deep and robust work of art capturing a detailed array of flowers blooming through a twist of flowing foliage along the rail. The frames are exquisitely carved with deep three-dimensional representations of leafage, the gilt highlighted spandrels handsomely carved with the same deep acanthus carving that is reinterpreted in the handholds and along the lift of the arm support. Well developed ... morerosettes cap each leg, these stop fluted with gilded beads and twists of acanthus, the whole terminating in a standard stumped toe. Somewhat recently covered. The chairs look absolutely fantastic- the covering of one chair has some slight discoloration/staining(pointed to in the slideshow) but overall they remain in simply outstanding condition. Sturdy, strong and comfortable, these are a pair that can be enjoyed actively in the home while absolutely elevating the quality of any room with their finely carved surfaces. Measurements: 31 3/8" wide x approximately 23" deep x 31 3/4" high; seat is 18 1/2" deep x 23" wide x 18" high Condition Report: One leg(front right leg of left chair in the"side-by-side" image) with a very slight"warp" this does not destabilize the chair in any way and is not particularly noticeable except in the perfect perspective of the camera. Heavily worn surfaces w/ light chips to crest carvings and frame. Upholstery in excellent condition.
