None penetrate the finish. Edge of table where leaf drops has a chip to the surface; corner of table also has some damage; as shown. Leaves have a few scratches. Color is pretty close to top surface of table. One leaf has a bruise at the edge. One master chair seat has failed. But the upholstery is intact. Other chairs are in very nice condition. They are most likely ... moremade by a company such as Berkey and Gay or Lanstrom. This wonderful set of eight has been refinished by the previous owner. The set consists of a set of six side chairs and two arm chairs for a total of 8. The beautiful backs have a diamond point raised panel with incise carvings. Circle designs in the center with a gothic style spindle and knob back. It has a flared back leg, multi-turn spindle front stretcher and a block and ball William and Mary style front leg. They are in a light walnut stain with minor little nicks and dings and a few little chips here and there. The overall condition is good. The fabric is slightly worn and has a few little stains and can easily be replaced by slipping out four screws and stapling new fabric on. Beautiful Set of four Chairs. They're antique from early 1900's. I've had these appraised years ago and was told by the appraiser that they were in Baroque style around 1910 or so. They're stuffed with horse hair. The upholstered was done I believe sometimes in the 60's. I have had them cleaned is why at the bottom it shows water stains. One chair as some marks from being scratched on the back spindle. This could be repaired. They're a quite sturdy set. Nice to find four together like this. The fabric does show some stains but overall they're great and can be used as is or easily recovered. I believe the wood is walnut. I cannot remember exactly. They're solid. Very comfortable. Pair Antique Carved Leg Queen Anne Burl Walnut Dining Chairs Beautiful
Up for bid are a pair of Antique Queen Anne carved leg dining chairs. One side and one captains. The back panels are burl wood. The seat cushions are freshly professionally recovered in a lovely dark blue fabric with a predominantly gold floral pattern(see photo) The cushions have the open center construction with webbing for comfort as well as the original horsehair and felt. The webbing has been tightened and a layer of dacron batting has been added. It appears that the chairs were not recovered prior to this. The seat cushions are not permanently attached but fit snugly. These are nicely turned and provide lasting support to the legs. The stretcher is probably why this set remains so sturdy after all this time. The swooping design of the front cabriole legs and pad feet support the seat with elegance. The seat cushions are upholstered in fabric with floral patterns that would work well in most dining rooms making it easily assimilated into many different settings. The cushions may be removed by a gentle push from the bottom for easy cleaning or recovering. The seat measures 18.5″ from the floor. These are great looking chairs ready for a great looking home!
