It doesn’t appear to have ever been used. It was sitting in the attic. The finish is dark and aged to a lovely patina. I believe the seat is original. It has a dainty carved press back, multi-turn spindles, knuckle arms, multi-turn spindles on the platform base and original castors. This is a great find for those who love original finish antiques. The overall size is 23 inches wide across the arms, 17 inches wide on the seat, 19 inches deep, 40 inches high to the chair back, 26 inches high to the arm and 16 inches high to the seat. The platform has two coil springs that allows the rocking chair top to ride on the platform base.

It has the original tray, which is usually gone. Someone took the wheels off as they did not want to use it as a walker in the house. We do not have the wheels, but there were a 3- or 4-inch wheel that goes into the holes on the base, and they are not necessary for the chair to work. It still works as a high chair for half way down and down to the floor. You release the spring latch in the back to adjust the height.

Here is a set of 4 already matching that have the traditional"Rabbit Ear" design with a top stretcher. Six turned spindles create the back and fit into the second rail that is also pressed. The spindles are flat on the side that faces your back so that its nice and comfy. Seats were recanned 7 years ago but have been used since then and have wear where they need to be recanned. All have the bent wood Hip Huggers to strengthen that back joint. It's a superior design for longevity. These are antique chairs and have been used and have signs of wear and character. You will only have to recane them.

Antique Oak Rocking Chair Pressed Back With Spindles Cane Seat Local Pick Up Only This is a wonderful turn of the century antique oak rocking chair with a pressed back floral pattern. There are seven decorative turned spindles on the back. Four on each side of arms, and two on the front legs. The side and back spindle joining the legs are not turned. The overall measurements are approx. 39 1/2" high x 24" wide x 27 7/8” deep incl. runners. The seat to floor is approx.1 5 1/2" The seat front to back is ap prox. 18 1/2" The original finish has a nice warm patina that highlights the nice oak grain on the rocking chair. When I purchased the rocker. The cane seat had just been redone- that was 37 years ago and is still nice and tight and does not sag at all. A couple of the screws are newer. There is a repair on the corner ... moreof the seat and the arm which you can see in the pictures. It has normal wear consistent with its vintage age and use. This is an estate find; a beautiful press back. Tiger Oak Rocking Chair with an Art Nouveau carved design at the top and bottom and what appears to be the original cane seat still in great condition! I just love the rocking chair, but must sell it. It’s in great condition(circa 1900’s) the only flaw is one missing spindle on the right side(see photo) so there's four spindles on one side and three on the other, but it’s not noticeable unless you are looking for it. The arm rests are curved down, for extra comfort. I could not find a manufacturer’s name on this piece. But whoever made it did a really great job. Sanded, stained, multiple coats of satin sheen lacquer and a big reupholstered seat in a brocade fabric. The rocker has been all tightened up and is ready for years of carefree enjoyment. The multiple coats of satin sheen lacquer will ensure that the finish will last for decades. It is all solid oak, manly in size, but stylish in style. It has multi-turn solid oak spindles that the back posts go right into the solid oak seat. Oak front spindles support the rolled scroll arms that go into the seat. The base is all multi-turn with the original oak rockers and the back is all pierce carved or cutout like a saber sawn pattern. On top of the double press section it has multi-turn spindles that support the crest rail. The size is 24 inches across the arms, 19 inches on the inside of the arms, 21 inches deep from the front to the back, 44 inches to the posts when it is at the normal resting position and 16 inches high to the seat.
