About The Luristan Culture Lorestān bronze is a set of Early Iron Age bronze artifacts of various individual forms which have been recovered from Lorestān and Kermanshah areas in west-central Iran. They include a great number of weapons. Ornaments, tools, and ceremonial objects. The artifacts were created by a major group of Persian aboriginals known as Lurs. Lorestani Bronze objects were taken illegally to Europe via Mesopotamia and to cover up most of the items taken they called them Mesopotamian while in fact there are no similarities what so ever between the Persian Bronze objects excavated in Lorestan 1943 to 1968. Ancient Near Eastern Chalcolithic Painted Pottery Bowl - 3400 BC
A rare and extremely well provenanced ancient Near Eastern Chalcolithic pottery bowl. Dating to between 3600- 3400 B.C. This expansive cream buff ware bowl has been hand modeled with steeply curved shoulders. A flattened circular base and a wide mouth featuring a subtly everted rim. The outer body of the vessel is decorated with a double lined band in dark purple, with a geometric design below, possibly depicting highly abstracted animals in motion. The inside is painted with a frieze of three stylized ibex, and further geometric designs that likely reflect contemporary basketry patterns. This motif, combined with the series of vertical lines that accompany it expertly creates the illusion of rotary motion. This bowl is characteristic of the luxury ceramics found at Tepe Sialk in Iran produced during the Chalcolthic(Copper) Age. Aside from ... moretheir technical excellence. The painted ornamentation of these vessels demonstrates a progressive visual wit that remains highly striking even today. Ancient Luristan (Circa 2000 B.C.) Bronze Cudgel
NEAR EAST BRONZE CUDGEL ENLARGE& ZOOM This cudgel. Or'macehead' as it is sometimes known, is a slender, hollow-cast tube with a slightly flanged base. There are two grooves encircling the head, at the centre, and above the base. At the upper end, three vertical bands of parallel lines divide the circumference into panels, each decorated with a herring-bone pattern in low relief. The lower end of the shaft is plain and smooth. Variegated green and amber patina all over with severe encrustation on the surface, particularly on the herring-bone relief on one side. The function of such objects is not immediately apparent but it is often believed that they were intended to be mounted on wooden shafts as cudgels. Ancient Parthian Ceramic Ram's Head Rhyton - 500 BC
An ancient Near Eastern(likely Parthian) ceramic ram ryhton vessel. Dating to the mid-late first millennium BC. The artist has shown a clear desire for realistic anatomical detail. With the form of the head clear and the nose and mouth cleanly depicted. The eyes are depicted in a far more abstracted fashion, rising as small slits imbuing the animal with a restful aura. The body of the vessel is adorned with a series of incised motifs and an appliquéd piriform and cross decoration upon the forehead. The jaw, horns and spout are modern restorations and can be distinguished by the different colour of the clay. Rhytons such as this artifact were very popular in ancient Persia. A rare ancient Near Eastern Luristan bronze stag headed spike or awl. Dating to around 1000 B.C. The long rectangular spike tapering up from a sharp point into a beautiful stylized depiction of a stag's head. Two large antlers adorn the creature's skull. The beast's head runs down into a pointed muzzle. The back of the head with a further projection of a stylized fawn and the neck with two ridges. Decorated medieval ceramic bowl from Iran/Persia ca C12th
A decorated and glazed earthenware Persian bowl. Probably from Iran, and dated between the C10th and C14th The inside of the bowl is decorated with geometric and foliate patterns with a stippled background. Traces of green and yellow glaze. Which would originally have covered the inside of the bowl, remain. A honey-coloured glaze decorates the top half of the outside of the bowl. The base of the foot is marked with a collector's number. The broken rim appears to have been modified from what may have originally been a wider circular rim. Possibly to tidy it up after damage. Diameter 14.5cm Height 7cm.

TOTAL HEIGHT 7.17 inch DIAMETER 3.15 inch WEIGHT 5.09 ounces CONSTRUCTION: The cylinder is boxed with a fold along the vertical axis of the foil and sealed with a scarab’s bezel. The fund is also boxed. The other six scarabs and other decorative elements are welded to the surfaces. Even the lid is pure gold ... morefoil, embossed and punched. And it has the two figurines and the two scarabs welded. DECORATIONS: the female figurine on the left wears a v-neck clothes. And she holds the drape at the waist with her left hand; the male figurine on the right, bearded, has the arms on his sides. Their hips are both tight by bands. The lid has depicted three symbolic animals representing the social status of the deceased. Lionesse, antelope and peacock, while the two scarabs, along with six other of the cylindrical container, are the auspicious symbol of eternity. The pyx is cantilevered decorated on two horizontal registers. With subjects in orientalizing style. In the upper register is probably represented the livings' world and the struggle between the forces of good and evil. The evil seems to be identified in the warrior armed with sword and shield and behind him there is a winged chimera. Feathered body and lion's head. The good is represented by the second warrior, armed with shield and spear(the best weapon in the hand to hand combat) and behind him there's an antelope rampant, with long arched horns. Old Assyrian Wedding Contract - cuneiform clay tablet, hand written copy, signed
This clay tablet is a hand-made. Hand-written copy of the original tablet. It is made the same way copies were made in ancient Near East, i. e. copied by hand, not cast, signed in cuneiform. The layout of the text is kept as on the original tablet. It is a copy of an Old Assyrian wedding contract excavated in Kanesh(Anatolia) in the 1920's by Prof. Bedřich Hrozný. Today it is deposited at the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts of the Charles University in Prague. The original clay tablet dates back to 20th-18th century BC and was found in an Old Assyrian trade colony Kanesh(today's Kültepe. Located in central Anatolia) Old Assyrian merchants, whose wives stayed in Aššur(Old Assyrian"capital" located in northern Mesopotamia) married side-wives here. This contract confirms the marriage of Puzur-Ištar and his secondary ... morewife Ištar-Lamassi and specifies the conditions of the marriage- the amount of silver that will be payed by the one who leaves the other and the circumstances under which Puzur-Ištar can/can't marry another secondary wife. Hand-written in Old Assyrian. In an Old Assyrian cuneiform script, fired in a kiln with wood. The text is written on the obverse, lower edge, reverse, upper edge and the left side of the tablet. A colophon at the end of the text(the last line on the left side of the tablet) contains an information, that it is a copy written by me, as was the custom in Mesopotamia(sort of a signature of the scribe) Size: 4.6 cm x 5,6 cm x 2,1 cm(1.8' x 2.2' x 0.8' = width x height x thickness I will enclose a paper with transliteration.
