An elegant. Rare and well preserved ancient Luristan late Bronze Age pick axe, dating to approximately 900 BC. The axe is of classic Luristan form; with straight robust shaft and blunt edge. Cylindrical socket and rounded projection at the back. Indentations and remnants of the original wraps can be seen on the shaft, an extremely rare occurrence. Blunt ended axes such as this weapon were designed to cause depressed fractures and deep lacerations to the head.
