Sumerian Cuneiform Tablet.Nippur.Babylonian.Medical Text.Museum Replica.
A Cuneiform slate tablet originally from Nippur in Babylonian.2100 BC. I think this is a reproduction of the famous Penn Museum Tablet which is worlds oldest medical text. The pharmacopoeia is believed to be the first known documentation of aspirin.Aloe vera and opium, demonstrating a sophistication and level of medical knowledge equivalent to that in 17th Century England. It appears to be made of some type of slate. It is 9.5cms wide and 15.5cms long.Weight 231 grams. The tablet has a number of small chips down one side and a chip to a corner. I think it has been cut in too at sometime there should be writing on both sides of tablet. Would make an interesting teaching aid.

5 Old Babylonian Terracotta Cuneiform Tablet (Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine)
5 Cuneiform tablats from olld coll. in Israel(1960-1980) 1700-2000 B.C. They were examined by Marcel Sigrist and were 100% authentic. They will send only after receiving confirmation of the sale and export of IAA. The oldest known written language. Cuneiform, first used by the ancient peoples of the Near East over 5000 years ago, is composed of a series of wedge-shaped incisions made with a sharpened reed stylus. This script was adopted by all the major civilizations of Mesopotamia for recording their distinct languages, including the Sumerians, Akkadians, Assyrians, and Babylonians. Clay tablets were the preferred media for everyday writing because they could either be easily recycled or, if a permanent record was required, fired in a kiln and preserved. The earliest recorded inscriptions are not myths of histories, but rather banal economic ... moretransactions and accounting documents. Later, one of the most famous written works of the ancient world, Hammurabi’s code, was recorded in the cuneiform script. While these marks may appear obscure and mysterious to our eyes, scholars have made much progress in deciphering cuneiform after discovering inscriptions on the Behistun Rock, a cliff in western Iran. Much like the Rosetta Stone, the Behistun Inscription contained the same text written in three different languages(Persian, Babylonian, and Elamite) all of which utilized the cuneiform system of writing. Due to the resemblance of these languages to modern ones, scholars were able to crack to code. This terracotta tablet reveals just how intricate a system of writing cuneiform was. Clay candle holder with a cuneiform inscription in Old Babylonian
This is an original piece hand-made by me. It is neither an antiquity nor a copy of one. The shape is inspired by ancient Near Eastern pottery. The inscription in Old Babylonian says: Let the fire be lit. Let Girra shine, let there be light! Girra was the Mesopotamian god of fire) I made this piece back in 2011 from a very nice clay I dug up at local sandpit. It is very dense with a content of mica and has a really nice smell to it when fired. I had to swap for a less attractive processed clay later due to firing problems with a new batch, but this piece is still made of the nice old stuff. It is fired with wood in a stone kiln I built with my girlfriend, so it is hand made in every aspect of the process: the wood being also collected by us while working in a forest: My signature in cuneiform is at the bottom. The inner diameter of the neck ... moreis 3.7 cm = 1.5' I will enclose paper with transliteration. Transcription, translation and some basic information about the language etc.

Old Assyrian Wedding Contract - cuneiform clay tablet, hand written copy, signed
This clay tablet is a hand-made. Hand-written copy of the original tablet. It is made the same way copies were made in ancient Near East, i. e. copied by hand, not cast, signed in cuneiform. The original clay tablet dates back to 20th-18th century BC and was found in an Old Assyrian trade colony Kanesh(today's Kültepe. Hand-written in Old Assyrian. In an Old Assyrian cuneiform script, fired in a kiln with wood. The text is written on the obverse, lower edge, reverse, upper edge and the left side of the tablet. A colophon at the end of the text(the last line on the left side of the tablet) contains an information, that it is a copy written by me, as was the custom in Mesopotamia(sort of a signature of the scribe) Size: 4.6 cm x 5,6 cm x 2,1 cm(1.8' x 2.2' x 0.8' = width x height x thickness I will enclose a paper with transliteration. Clay Tablet - a wish of health, happiness, love etc. to a woman in cuneiform
Notice for e-bay employees- THIS IS NOT AN ANTIQUITY. IT IS A TABLET WRITTEN BY ME IN OLD BABYLONIAN IN CZECH REPUBLIC IN OCTOBER 2013(Babylonian doesn't mean it is from Iraq, it means Babylonian language, a dialect of Akkadian) This cuneiform clay tablet is not an antiquity. It is a hand written original text- composed and written by me. It is a universal wish of health, happiness, good luck, joy and love to a woman(I am also selling identical wish to a man in a separate listing- the difference is in possessive pronouns and verb forms) It is written in Old Babylonian, a dialect of Akkadian used in ancient Mesopotamia roughly in 20th-16th century BC. The text rhymes and translated to English it reads: Tell the receiver of this tablet the following: May you live- may you dwell in the presence of your protective deity(the deity being a ... moresynonym for good luck) may you be healthy- may you rejoice with the joy of your liver; may you be eternal- may you love with the love of your heart. The text is written on the obverse. Lower edge and reverse of the tablet. On the left side of the tablet, there is a colophon(the last bit of text containing information like date, name of the scribe, whether the tablet is a copy etc. written in Sumerian(but can be read both in Akkadian and Sumerian) It says"Zeni wrote this" which was the usual formula for mentioning scribe's name. Dimensions: 4.6 x 3.9 x 1.7 cm = 1.8' x 1.5' x 0.7' width x height x thickness) The tablet is made of clay and fired in a kiln with wood in 2013. I will enclose a paper with transliteration. Transcription, translation to English and some basic information about the language, script etc.

Two cuneiform tablets - Ex. Tullett Coll., please see description before bidding
Two cuneiform clay tablets. The one which appears to be whole is either very heavily restored or a forgery. 4.4 x 3.8 cms; if it is restored, it uses a duplication of the text from one side to create the same text on the back. The second example is roughly 3.2 cms but utterly crumbled/eroded within the plastic folder- beyond help in my opinion but I could not bear to throw away something like this and only hope it may be of use as a study aid to someone. The crumbled example has a dealer's ticket from George Lambor, a respected and well-liked dealer active in the 1960's-1980's in the UK(and co-founder of the Antiquities Dealers Association) Both tablets come from the Dorset-based collection of the late Ken Tullett, actively collecting a vast array of smaller objects during the 1970's-80's. Ancient Near Eastern Tablet with Cuneiform scripture (800-1000 BC)
A Near Eastern Tablet with Cuneiform Scriptures. Circa 800-1000 BC. Measuring 4 1/8“ x 2 3/8” x ¾” Approx. This Piece showcase an excellent example of ancient writing(Not translated) I bought this piece in 2011 from a Brazilian archaeologist. Historian and Egyptologist, who is the person responsible for the construction of the Neo-Mamluk Complex in Rio: Al-Sultaniyya Cultural Complex and the Archaeological Museum of Mankind. Per the Professor description. This piece is in good and stable condition, but partially eroded in some parts of its surface and borders with small chips, and very worn, certainly due to the age/atmospheric conditions. This piece belonged to a private collector in Rio de Janeiro. As part of a collection of items purchase in Damascus in 1923 and brought to Rome afterwards, and to RJ in the 1950’s. Cuneiform is known ... moreas one of the earliest system of writing. Is a system of writing first developed by the ancient Sumerians of Mesopotamia circa 3500-3000 BCE. It is considered the most significant among the many cultural contributions of the Sumerians. The name comes from the Latin word cuneus for'wedge' owing to the wedge-shaped style of writing. In cuneiform. A carefully cut writing implement known as a stylus is pressed into soft clay to produce wedge-like impressions that represent word-signs(pictographs) All of the great Mesopotamian civilizations used cuneiform(the Sumerians, Akkadians, Babylonians, Elamites, Assyrians, Hurrians and others) until it was abandoned in favor of the alphabetic script in the course of the Roman era. I am a collector with over 20 years of experience in the hobby; I have acquired many interested pieces around the world. Anywhere from private collections to highly known auction houses. But now I have reached the time on my life on which I have to start setting up my retirement. So I have taken the tough decision to depart with some pieces of my collection and let a new owner enjoy them as I did. During the next couple of moths I will be placing more of m

Ancient Cuneiform Temple Brick section from Nebuchadnezzar II Circa 560 BC
This is an inscription cut from a building brick. The whole brick was much larger and this is only the stamped inscription. I purchased five of these about ten years ago. I only have two left. I guarantee the authenticity of the brick and that it was imported legally into the US. The brick was translated by Professor Lambert and reads as follows: Nebuchadnezzar. King of Babylon. Provisioner of Esagil and Ezida. Prime son of Nabopolassar. King of Babylon and Ebabbara, the temple of Shamash. In Larsa.restored as it was before. For Shamash. My Lord" The inscription is shallow and is best view with cross lighting. I just took some quick pictures. But I think it clearly represents what the brick looks like. The brick section is unbroken and has no repairs. If you purchase this and are not completely happy. I accept returns for any reason. ... moreJust notify me within 7 days. I will refund your purchase price including shipping. You only pay for the return shipping. I'm sorry. But I will not ship this item out of the US. Please do not bid unless you have a US address.
