Ancient Rare Luristan Decorative Bronze Ibex 900-800 BC
The Ancient Luristan Community- Bronze Artwork The term'Luristan' references artifacts made by a society of semi-nomadic people that once lived in the mountainous region of Northwest Iran. The Luristan bronzes were crafted by the earliest existence of the Median empire. The Medes were Indo-Iranian people originally from central Asia who settled in Northwest Iran in the 9th century BC and later defeated the Assyrian empire in 614 BC. Their success is short-lived and their empire which once stretched from central Iran to the Persian Gulf and Anatolia was overrun in 550 BC by the Persians. The people living in the mountains of Luristan seemed to have been fascinated by the animal kingdom. Ancient Near Eastern Early Iron Age Iron & Bronze Sword - 900 BC
A rare Ancient Near Eastern bronze and Iron sword. Dating to approximately 900 B.C. A very rare example. Notable for the almost complete preservation of its iron blade, which is often missing or so badly corroded that it has been removed and replaced with a bronze blade. The blade itself is of triangular form and of thick section. Decorated with three converging ridges on both sides, which accentuate the length and robust feel of the weapon. The hilt is of typical form, made of bronze with discoid pommel and ridge decoration on the handle. The tang insertion of the blade is visible from the back of the hilt, entering the pommel. Perhaps in antiquity the pommel may have been capped with a limestone or lapis-lazuli ornament. Length of sword: 17 3/4 inches. Condition. Exceptional. Unrestored. Blades such as this are seldom encountered on the ... moreart market. It was common in the early-middle part of the last century, when these blades were found, for the often very badly corroded iron blades to be snapped off by unscrupulous dealers. Thus one commonly finds on the market today that these original iron blades have been swapped with"more pleasing" bronze examples from another weapon. What is most unusual about this piece is that not only has the original blade been kept, but it is in an extraordinary state of preservation. Provenance: Ex. Fench private collection. Ancient VERY LARGE Copper Alloy Luristan Arrowhead 900-500 BC
About The Assyrians The term LURISTAN references artifacts made by a society of semi-nomadic people that once lived in the mountainous region of Northwest Iran. These include highly decorative equipment for their horses, ceremonial containers and numerous weapons ranging from simple utilitarian pieces on up to elaborate masterpieces of warfare. It is theorized that the Luristan bronzes were crafted by the earliest existence of the Median empire but this has never been proven as written records of the Medes have not survived. Ancient Luristan Long Sword Prominent Grip Decoration VERY RARE 1200-900 BC
About The Luristan Culture Lorestān bronze is a set of Early Iron Age bronze artifacts of various individual forms which have been recovered from Lorestān and Kermanshah areas in west-central Iran. They include a great number of weapons. Ornaments, tools, and ceremonial objects. The artifacts were created by a major group of Persian aboriginals known as Lurs. Lorestani Bronze objects were taken illegally to Europe via Mesopotamia and to cover up most of the items taken they called them Mesopotamian while in fact there are no similarities what so ever between the Persian Bronze objects excavated in Lorestan 1943 to 1968. Which were dated to be from 5th to 4th millennium BC. The hair pins and four men holding a cup were typical of that period which once again separates Iranian development from whatever was going on in so called Sumerian areas. ... moreTypical Lorestāni-style objects belong to the(Iranian) Iron Age(c. 1250-650 BC) About This Artifact This very rare and solid ancient Luristan sword bears an incredibly long blade and features a very uniquely designed handle with two prominent mouldings made on its grip. Ending off with a rounded, funnel-shaped pommel. A dark, natural patina is retained with a rich layer of earthen encrustations that have settled all over this sword, testament to its age and authenticity. This sword has been left unrestored, is fully intact and is of excellent condition. An elegant. Rare and well preserved ancient Luristan late Bronze Age pick axe, dating to approximately 900 BC. The axe is of classic Luristan form; with straight robust shaft and blunt edge. Ancient Sabean Statue Head, South Arabian, Marble, 900-100 BC, with Black Stand
Rare Ancient Sabean Statue Head with Stand South Arabian_ 100% Authentic and Ancient Here is an odd looking Sabean marble head(or maybe the Sabeans were just odd looking) Measuring 22 cm x 9 cm and with a stand that measures 8 cm x 7 cm. Note that on the reverse side(back of the head) of the rock there are several scuff marks. These would indicate many centuries of the rock laying facedown in the sandy desert. Being protected by the elements and foot traffic. The back of the head, however, was being being exposed to the elements while being walked upon by man or beast. The front side(faceside) shows virtually none of these scuff marks yet there does appear to be two letters of Sabean alphabet on the forehead of the face. Now looking at the photos one can see a crack at the base of the head and going a short way up the two sides. The crack ... morecould have been caused by the drilling of the hole in the base for the stand or the crack could have been caused simply by the exposure to extreme desert elements for centuries. Either way. The crack is stable, not growing, and nearly invisible when the head is mounted on it's stand. This head would make an excellent museum piece and these are very hard to find. It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by me. The starting bid on this unique piece is only $125.00. It weighs 8 pounds which means that shipping in the US is $25 and overseas it is $60.00. I do not ship to Italy. There is more information below provided by Wikipedia.
