Fine Egyptian Alabaster Bowl Circa 2500 BC Decorated
This is a very fine alabaster bowl from Egypt. Believed to be circa 2500 BC. It's in excellent condition with one or two chips on the rim, clearly made in antiquity. This bowl is delicately decorated along the rim. See photos for details and conditions. It is unquestinably a piece of genuine antiquity and was purchased from a reputable auction house. Indus Valley, 3500- 2500 BC; beautifully modeled, buff terracotta pottery, incised compartmentalization at top and bottom of bulbous body, incised oval detail at end below handle, handle ornamented with three spherical beads at top, upper portion ornamented with intricate zoomorphic decoration in brown polychrome, flared neck, oval stepped base. Condition: Very good. No restoration; neck and rim fractured. Earthen deposits and wear to surface. Dimensions: 6.75" height x 6.5"length x 5.5"width.

Let me start off by stating that I am treasure hunter/ picker, and in no way an expert in this area of collecting or researching. I bought this piece from an eclectic gentleman who knows lots of other collectors, and he bought it from one of them. I had no idea of what it was but I thought it would be fun to learn. I did a little research. Not too much, but then noticed the old type, probably from the 40's or 50's, on the bottom of the wood stand sharing a little info, and at the bottom it reads"The Oriental Institute" So then I started thinking that maybe I really have something here, possibly a museum piece, or a real piece of history.
