Ancient Phoenician ‘Tanit’ Idol/Statue, C.1st Millenium BC
Ancient Phoenician‘Tanit’ Idol/Statue. C.1st Millenium BC Ancient Phoenician‘Tanit’ Idol/Statue. C.1 st Millenium BC This is a very rare piece of ancient Phoenician pottery– it is an idol or statue of the goddess Tanit. Chief deity of the city of Carthage. Measuring 7” long. The condition of this piece is quite typical(ie, poor) when new, it was a crudely made piece and it has also suffered severe wear and erosion to the features over many centuries. There are losses around the edges, a substantial amount of marine encrustation remaining all over the piece(including inside) and the head has been re-attached. It does not stand up, and will need to be mounted for display. Nonetheless, it is a rare survivor of a type of figure which is extremely uncommon today. This item is unconditionally guaranteed to be of the date and culture specified; ... moreplease see my Ebay shop for more Middle Eastern. Oriental, and S. E. Asian antiques and antiquities. Delivery Must be insured& signed for– UK delivery is free. To the E.U. costs £8, US& Canada £12, Australia& NZ £14– rest of the world, please ask for the delivery cost. I will combine shipping on everything. International buyers– Please note: Import duties. Taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. About me I have collected glass and ceramics. Antiques and antiquities for many years, and my shop philosophy is to sell very good antiques at very low prices very quickly so I do not need to carry much stock; larger shops will charge much more. But take much longer than I do to make a sale. Each to their own. Then- but that makes my prices ultra-low compared to a bricks-and-mortar antiques shop. I try to describe everything I sell as honestly as possible. Including any damage, issues, or attributions to a maker, in my descriptions. If you have any questions, a problem with a piece you’ve bought, or even further info on a piece I’m selling(always welcome! please mail me. Please don
