MAGNIFICENT ANTIQUE JAPANESE KUTANI SAKE CUPS- Pair Famous Eiraku Porcelain Gorgeous pair of porcelain sake cups by one of Japan's most respected ceramic artisans. Exquisite kinrande(gold over a red ground) painting with minute detail. The bases of the cups bear deep underglaze blue patterning creating a balanced and artistic design in traditional Eiraku fashion. This potter's family began to produce fine works in the 1500's. And mastered porcelain in the Ming Dynasty. They are well known for creating the kinrande technique. This rare pair of cups measure approximately 2 1/2" high and 2" across the rim. Antique, Vintage Kutani Marked Thin Porcelain Whistling Sake Cups Hand Painted
For your consideration we are offering these beautifully detailed and unique porcelain whistling sake cups. The cups are fine porcelain china with a detailed painted scene with Mt. Fuji. Water village and flowering trees and foliage. The little blossoms on the tree are moriage dots. These cups are so tiny with such wonderful detail. These cups are very unique they are whistling sake cups. There is a porcelain chimney/tube which runs down the side on the outside of the cup into the base with a hole in center. These are quite unusual and beautiful. There are 6 cups 2 have a chip on the top rim, please see photos for details. As far as I could see those are the only major chips. The rest of the cups are in good condition. There is some wear of the gold gilt trim on some of the cups. The bottoms of the cups are marked in red with Kutani and with ... more2 calligraphy characters. On some of the cups depending on how the stamp was placed some of these marks or letters are not complete because of the hole in the bottom for the whistling component. I am not sure of the age of these wonderful little cups. These cups measure approximately 2 3/16” across and they measure approximately 1 ¼” tall. On close inspection the calligraphy on the box appears to be hand applied, there are ink runs in the wood grain and no impression from mechanical printing. The box was put together with small wooden pegs as well and the top has slightly warped over time. Each cup is hand painted with gold gilding and some moriage work. This estate sale find is a lot of 8 Kutani sake cups. They are all in very nice. Used condition, having some soft wear but no chips or major scratches. Inside of cup is gold toned. The upper half of cup is black background with aqua colored dots and gold tone that matches inside of cup. The under side of cup is a red/burnt orange with gold dots. It has the Kutani hallmark on bottom. Cups measure about 1 7/8 inches across and stand about 1 1/8 inches tall. Very nice, original condition. Shipping to the lower 48 states is $7.00 USPS. 12 Vintage Japanese kutani sake cups with Solid Gold Inside
12 Vintage Signed Japan Sakazuki. Sake Cups. Geometric Gold Band Outside/Over Reddish Orange Porcelain. All are signed or marked with exception of 1. Solid Gold Inside. 2 are 2" Diameter& 1 1/4" Tall& the rest are approx. 1 3/4" diameter by 1" Tall but they all vary just slightly in sizes. A couple feel a little rough on bottom rim. The unmarked one has some paint loss. I have one of the smaller ones that has a chip on rim, it is not pictured& not included in the count but I will add it in case you might want it.

Antique KUTANI Footed SAKE CUPS, Set OF 9, Hand Painted Scholars, gold trim
I have collected Asian antiques for at least 35 years, and this set of Sake cups has been in the collection for probably 25 years. They are marked Kutani but I am not sure of the actual maker. Circa late 1800's. It is a set of nine(9) footed cups. Each with three seated sages and there is antique writing both inside and in each section. The sections are banded with a classic rust band highlighted with gold. The porcelain is semi-transparent. Measurements: 2 1/8" tall. 1 3/8" diameter. Condition: NO damage; there is a little bit of unevenness in the rust bands around the bottom which makes them have an occasional white spot which might look like a chip but isn't.

A different God is depicted on each cup. There are no major chips or cracks. Few looks to have crazing veins, roughness to the feet bottoms and one has a pencil head size nick to the rim.
