This lovely tea set features a Geisha girl on a path in front of a house and flowers throughout a plaid design surrounded by early 1900's 8-ray Japanese Imperial Flags. This little set definitely dates back to pre WWII. 1910's-1930' The Asian scene has been hand painted in very rich multi-color features and accented with gold. All four pieces are in very good condition with an exception of one tiny chip on the inside rim of one tea cup and a hairline crazing crack on the inside of the other one. Each piece is stamped with hallmarks on the bottoms in Japanese. All pieces are slightly out-of-round making me believe they have been entirely handmade. Cups measure 2 3/8" 7.5 cm) in dia. on top and are 1 1/2" 4.5 cm) tall. Saucers are 4 1/4" 10.8 cm) in dia. Antique Japanese eggshell porcelain cup and saucer, prersumed Meiji, Geisha in w
Truly superb and elegant antique Japanese eggshell porcelain cup and saucer. Hand painted. Presumed to be Meiji period. Very good antique condition with no cracks. Chips, repairs, scratches or crazing. The color is vivid. The image of a geisha being pulled in a wagon is repeated on the exterior, in greater size on the plate and in the bottom of the cup. The cup and plate also show a scene with temples( and cranes. The banding at the rim is truly whimsical and finely detailed. The porcelain is so thin, the exterior pattern is visible on the inside of the cup. Cup is 3 1/2 inches wide. Saucer is a little over 5" wide. It will be well packed for shipping.

Antique( Japanese( Eggshell(see through) Hand Painted Cup& S aucer.In the 1,000 Faces(Figures) Style. Presented for your consideration is this very good quality eggshell(super thin/see through) porcelain cup and saucer.It looks to me to be a Meiji period Japanese piece.In the 1,000 faces/figures style,as it appears to me to be a late 19th or early 20th century piece,with heavy Japanese influences,with no crackling,as a Satsuma piece would have.So perhaps it's a Kutani piece,or a Chinese piece.I'm certainly not an expert by any means,so please rely on your own judgement.Both pieces appear to have the same signature on their undersides,although as you can see in the photos provided,parts of them are worn.I haven't been able to identify the marks to date.If anyone out there could enlighten me as to who made and decorated these ... morefine pieces,I'd be grateful.Both pieces have some wear,mainly around their upper rims and to the gilding.There's some slight to a bit heavier wear on the upper portion of the cup and also on the cups handle as well,in some areas.I don't see any cracks or chips,and the set is still quite serviceable,although I've had the pieces on display in a cabinet myself,as they do look great on display.The stands shown are not included in the listing. The plates are not eggshell and are marked that they are hand painted and a Japanese character symbol on the bottom of each plate. First: in an effort at full disclosure. The bad news: There is no saucer. It either broke or was somehow separated from the cup long ago. And, the cup has a hairline fracture-which may have been a firing fracture because it does not seem to weaken the rim. See detail photo which is the last photo. The good news: It is a truly glorious cup. On the inside is a spectacular alternating spiral of colored butterflies and cranes. The cranes with their constant coloration and the butterflies in endless variety. Truly whimsical. In contrast. The exterior glaze is sedate, with glaze and luster band at the top and sylvan scenes of temples, pagodas and the sea and landscape. Up for sale is a very fine porcelain two-handled tea cup. Saucer and lid, hand-painted and gilded, signed either by the maker or artist in Japanese script. Truth be told, I am not an expert of Japanese ceramics, but I have compared it to pictures of other Thousand Faces items and believe this is mid-19th Century. Have seen many tea cup sets, but none with two-handles and a top with dragons. If someone can add information, I would be pleased to add it to this description. This auction is for a miniature porcelain tea cup and saucer that appears to be stamped"911" This looks to be a Japanese set. But without knowing the maker, I can't be sure. This set is nicely decorated with pink lustre color and a white center. The edges are trimmed in gold, as is the handle of the tea cup. The set does have very minor loss to some of the gold gilting and a very small chip on the inside rim and an aged crack on the inside of the cup. Neither of these can be seen from the outside of the cup. The cup does not have any other damage and the plate is in excellent condition. Here is an absolutely amazing old handpainted Japanese fine porcelain cup. The saucer is not a match and is not nearly of the same quality. But will be included if the buyer wants it. The lightweight porcelain cup is signed on the bottom in red with 8 symbols. It has been hand decorated with gold and painted scenes of cranes and quails. Heavy application of gold and a very unusual design of clocks at different times around the top edge. Exquisitely decorated even inside. The saucer has a small faint hairline on the under side. The delicate cup is in lovely clean overall condition. But not perfect. It has a small, almost perfectly shaped V section out of the top rim. This is a gorgeous eggshell porcelain cup& saucer with Japanese Kanji mark- Satsuma but not sure. All Hand-Painted with cranes or storks, chrysanthemums. Joshua trees, huts, rust border. Circa mid to late 1800's. Measurements: saucer 5 1/2" diameter. Cup 3 3/4" diameter, just under 2" tall. Condition: slightly rough and dark spot on foot. There is a hairline crack in the bottom of the handle where it joins to the body of the cup. This has been part of my"crane" collection for many years and has never been out of the cabinet so must have been that way when I bought it. It was purchased in an antique shop at least 20 years ago. Gold-outlined. Very finely-made Japanese porcelain eggshell cup and saucer, with a pattern of raised chrysanthemums and a golden moth or butterfly in the center of the saucer. Nearly invisible hairline underneath rim of saucer, not affecting integrity or showing on right side. Otherwise in excellent condition with no damage. Both cup and saucer are signed on the underside with six characters. The first two, I believe, say"product of Japan" I can't find the name of the maker or company. The characters do not include the two for"Ku tani" nine valleys) so I don't know if this piece was made there, like so much of the eggshell porcelain, or elsewhere. Set of 5 Japanese possibly Kutani/Satsuma Eggshell Porcelain Cups with Saucers
This auction is for a set of 5 Japanese Kutani/Satsuma(possibly) eggshell porcelain cups with lip edged saucers. They each measure about 1 ¾ in tall by 1 7/8 in diameter at the top by 1 ¼ in diameter at the bottom and about 2 ¾ in wide at widest point with handle. The saucers measure 3 ¾ in diameter by 5/8 in tall by 2 ¼ in diameter around bottom edge. These are very thin eggshell porcelain and beautifully delicate. No chips or cracks that I could find. Except for 1 saucer that has a large piece broken from the lipped edge(see pictures) Each cup and matching saucer has a beautifully intricate painted scene with water, mountains, sunset colors over the mountains, with trees and bushes. The main portion of the painting is 2 Japanese women in kimonos looking back to a younger Japanese girl. There look to be birds(lines ... moreand dots) flying in the sky overhead also. There is also a Japanese house painted in gold with pink flower bushes behind. Above the left side of the house and over the women is a mostly gold painted with red, green and black bird that looks like a rooster head with widespread wings. A gold line is painted around the top edge of the cup from bird wing to bird wing. The cup handle is also painted gold. The bottom of each cup is marked with a red circle outlined in gold and 2 character gold markings. Each marking is slightly different(see pictures) The bottom of each saucer is marked with 2 character markings in red. Overall an absolutely beautiful set of 5 eggshell porcelain Japanese hand painted cups with matching saucers.
