This lovely tea set features a Geisha girl on a path in front of a house and flowers throughout a plaid design surrounded by early 1900's 8-ray Japanese Imperial Flags. This little set definitely dates back to pre WWII. 1910's-1930' The Asian scene has been hand painted in very rich multi-color features and accented with gold. All four pieces are in very good condition with an exception of one tiny chip on the inside rim of one tea cup and a hairline crazing crack on the inside of the other one. Each piece is stamped with hallmarks on the bottoms in Japanese. All pieces are slightly out-of-round making me believe they have been entirely handmade. Cups measure 2 3/8" 7.5 cm) in dia. on top and are 1 1/2" 4.5 cm) tall. Saucers are 4 1/4" 10.8 cm) in dia. Most amazing detail and craftsmanship but what's even more amazing is how this set survived all these years. All our items come from a smoke free and pet free home. Vintage Japanese Egg Shell Porcelain Dragon Tea Cups w Secret Geisha Face Inside
These are five very thin porcelain tea or coffee cups from an auction in Japan. They are so thin you can see light through them and consequently the dragon image that is printed on the outside and the geisha image that magically appears after you finish your coffee/tea or when you hold the cup up to the light. You can see her looking at you from the bottom of your tea cup. The last photo shows the images you can see through the coffee/tea cup. There are two dragons on each cup. They seem to be focused on a ball across from the handle. This style of printing blue and white with a stencil was very popular in the late 1800's to the early 1900's. This is an OLD set made of a very delicate egg shell china. It was hand painted with a thick enamel paint. You can feel all the patterning with your finger tip. One saucer has a bit of roughness at the very edge of the saucer(see my last pic for close up) Very hard to see but can be felt if you lightly run your finger around the bottom edge. Antique Japanese Egg Shell Porcelain Tea Cup Saucer Plate Set Geisha Girl Flags
Welcome to the Attic Japanese e gg shell tea cup& saucer Set. This is a very delicate Japanese teacup and saucer set made of egg shell porcelain. Egg shell porcelain is a very fine thin bone china that is translucent. This lovely tea set features a Geisha girl on a path in front of a house and flowers throughout a plaid design surrounded by early 1900's 8-ray Japanese Imperial Flags. This little set definitely dates back to pre WWII. 1910's-1930' The Asian scene has been hand painted in very rich multi-color features and accented with gold. All four pieces are in very good condition with an exception of one tiny chip on the inside rim of one tea cup and a hairline crazing crack on the inside of the other one. Each piece is stamped with hallmarks on the bottoms in Japanese. All pieces are slightly out-of-round making me believe ... morethey have been entirely handmade. Cups measure 2 3/8" 7.5 cm) in dia. on top and are 1 1/2" 4.5 cm) tall. Saucers are 4 1/4" 10.8 cm) in dia. Japanese Kutani Egg Shell Porcelain Demitasse Cups and Saucers Set - Meiji Era
Thanks For Visiting! A spectacular set of Japanese Kutani eggshell porcelain demitasse cups and saucers. After looking at all of the other sets I could find online. These are some of the very best. Covered with hand-painted white chrysanthemums with gold centers and edges, green leaves, and a red and gold painted rim with gold leaf decoration. There is also raised white enamel paint on the petals throughout, that gives dimension to the flowers. Each handle is covered in gilding as well. There are sets that I've seen. Called"Thousand Flowers" that are similar, but these are far superior in craftsmanship, painting, decoration, and quality. Those do not have the red and gold rim either. I am not an expert but if I were to guess, those were copied from cups like these, since I believe these are probably much older(and more beautiful) ... moreJust exquisite! These are so thin. They are almost see-through, yet they are very strong. They are in excellent condition for their age with very little signs of wear. There are no chips or cracks that I could find anywhere. From my research. These are likely from the Meiji era. You must make your own judgement based on the photos. Please ask if you need further photos. ANTIQUE CHINESE/JAPANESE TEA CUP Unglazed Rim, Egg Shell Porcelain, Flat Black
Description Up for your consideration is this Beautiful and Uniquely Rare Antique Flat Black Noir Glazed Egg-Shell Porcelain Tea Cup. The creamy glaze on the foot. The handle and the inside of the teacup is beautiful, but the glaze inside this cup doesn't go to the very top of the inside rim. See closeup pictures. The flat black famille noir glaze appears to create the design of the Blooming Cherry Tree and the Bird. The blossoms have a slight pink famille rose tinge inside the petals. And the bird is shaded yellow. The outside of the cup has the shape of petals impressed around it. And the inside you can see the petals buldge. I'm not sure if this cup was carved this way or if it was pressed, but very unique and rare. The porcelain is very thin and delicate, and when held up to the light it is translucent where the bottom, the tree, ... morebird and blossoms are. Chinese?Japanese? This cup is unmarked on the bottom. Estimated date of manufacture is unknown since I cannot find anything else like it. Height overall is 2 inches and the diameter of the rim is 3 3/4 inches and 4 1/2 inches from handle to rim. The condition is excellent without chips. Cracks or crazing! Delicate china tea cup depicting Geisha girls in a garden setting. Cup is rimmed with green. Outside of cup has a floral design but it seems to incomplete. Looks like a flaw during the manufacturing of it. I believe this cup is from the 1940's. No cracks or chips.
