This lovely tea set features a Geisha girl on a path in front of a house and flowers throughout a plaid design surrounded by early 1900's 8-ray Japanese Imperial Flags. This little set definitely dates back to pre WWII. 1910's-1930' The Asian scene has been hand painted in very rich multi-color features and accented with gold. All four pieces are in very good condition with an exception of one tiny chip on the inside rim of one tea cup and a hairline crazing crack on the inside of the other one. Each piece is stamped with hallmarks on the bottoms in Japanese. All pieces are slightly out-of-round making me believe they have been entirely handmade. Cups measure 2 3/8" 7.5 cm) in dia. on top and are 1 1/2" 4.5 cm) tall. Saucers are 4 1/4" 10.8 cm) in dia. Handpainted Kutani Eggshell porcelain tea cup, great condition
This is a great item. If you collect Kutani porcelain it is a little gem. Wonderful eggshell porcelain. Light as a feather, yet very strong, with the most detailed and elaborate decoration, all hand painted. It must have taken many hours of work to complete this little masterpiece. Three wonderful reserves pictue figures in conversation. And the body is covered in fabulous stylized chrysanthemums in gold over a red backgound. Signed with a six character mark on bottoms. Stands 2" high on a nice ring foot. Bowl is 4" wide at top. The size of a regular modern coffee cup. Just an elegant little item. Probably dates to early 20th century.

Truly superb and elegant antique Japanese eggshell porcelain cup and saucer. Hand painted. Presumed to be Meiji period. Very good antique condition with no cracks. Chips, repairs, scratches or crazing. The color is vivid. The image of a geisha being pulled in a wagon is repeated on the exterior, in greater size on the plate and in the bottom of the cup. The cup and plate also show a scene with temples( and cranes. The banding at the rim is truly whimsical and finely detailed. The porcelain is so thin, the exterior pattern is visible on the inside of the cup. Cup is 3 1/2 inches wide. Saucer is a little over 5" wide. It will be well packed for shipping.

Antique Japanese Eggshell(see through) Porcelain Cup & Saucer.1,000 Faces.Signed
Antique( Japanese( Eggshell(see through) Hand Painted Cup& S aucer.In the 1,000 Faces(Figures) Style. Presented for your consideration is this very good quality eggshell(super thin/see through) porcelain cup and saucer.It looks to me to be a Meiji period Japanese piece.In the 1,000 faces/figures style,as it appears to me to be a late 19th or early 20th century piece,with heavy Japanese influences,with no crackling,as a Satsuma piece would have.So perhaps it's a Kutani piece,or a Chinese piece.I'm certainly not an expert by any means,so please rely on your own judgement.Both pieces appear to have the same signature on their undersides,although as you can see in the photos provided,parts of them are worn.I haven't been able to identify the marks to date.If anyone out there could enlighten me as to who made and decorated these ... morefine pieces,I'd be grateful.Both pieces have some wear,mainly around their upper rims and to the gilding.There's some slight to a bit heavier wear on the upper portion of the cup and also on the cups handle as well,in some areas.I don't see any cracks or chips,and the set is still quite serviceable,although I've had the pieces on display in a cabinet myself,as they do look great on display.The stands shown are not included in the listing. Japanese 8 Pc. Luncheon Set Eggshell Porcelain Teacups w/ Geisha at Bottom HP'd
Vintage. Japanese, hand painted, 8 piece luncheon set. The set has 2 different patterns. One is of iron red leaves with gold trim and the other is of a sprig of berries. The eggshell porcelain teacups match each plate and when lifted to the light each displays a geisha in the bottom. The plates are not eggshell and are marked that they are hand painted and a Japanese character symbol on the bottom of each plate. Antique Japanese eggshell porcelain cup with butterly/crane design
First: in an effort at full disclosure. The bad news: There is no saucer. It either broke or was somehow separated from the cup long ago. And, the cup has a hairline fracture-which may have been a firing fracture because it does not seem to weaken the rim. See detail photo which is the last photo. The good news: It is a truly glorious cup. On the inside is a spectacular alternating spiral of colored butterflies and cranes. The cranes with their constant coloration and the butterflies in endless variety. Truly whimsical. In contrast. The exterior glaze is sedate, with glaze and luster band at the top and sylvan scenes of temples, pagodas and the sea and landscape. I suppose that this cup would normally not be sold without its saucer. Truth be told, I am not an expert of Japanese ceramics, but I have compared it to pictures of other Thousand Faces items and believe this is mid-19th Century. Have seen many tea cup sets, but none with two-handles and a top with dragons. If someone can add information, I would be pleased to add it to this description. This auction is for a miniature porcelain tea cup and saucer that is unsigned. But appears to be Japanese. This set is nicely decorated with blue/green/gray lustre color with white polka dots. The cup features a Victorian scene of a man and woman. The plate and the cup are both trimmed in gold and the plate replicates the Victorian scene in the center. Both pieces are in great condition, but the plate does have a scratch in the paint. This feels smooth to the touch, but I want to point it out. The saucer measures 4 1/2 inches in diameter and the cup is 2 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter. There is also raised white enamel paint on the petals throughout. Each handle is covered in gilding as well. Just exquisite! These are almost see-through. So delicate and yet strong. Here is an absolutely amazing old handpainted Japanese fine porcelain cup. The saucer is not a match and is not nearly of the same quality. But will be included if the buyer wants it. The lightweight porcelain cup is signed on the bottom in red with 8 symbols. It has been hand decorated with gold and painted scenes of cranes and quails. Heavy application of gold and a very unusual design of clocks at different times around the top edge. Exquisitely decorated even inside. The saucer has a small faint hairline on the under side. The delicate cup is in lovely clean overall condition. But not perfect. It has a small, almost perfectly shaped V section out of the top rim. Made from the thinnest of eggshell porcelain each piece has been hand painted in the most delicate brush work you will ever see. The teapot has a very detailed landscape on the front with bamboo. Geese, ducks and birds. This landscape motif is carried around to the back with the bamboo landscape and geese. A duck flies on the lid. Some of the brushwork is so fine, it must ... morehave been done with a hair. The sugar has cranes/ egrets on the front and back with a flying crane on the lid. The creamer is decorated front and back with partridges or quails. A flying quail is on the lid. The lids are trimmed in gold. Each piece is signed with a 4 character chop. This signature is located by the handles. Excellent Condition. The only issue I have found is a very tiny indention(just the faintest dip through the gold paint) on the lip of the teapot's spout. Antique Eggshell Porcelain Cup and Saucer Blue/White Made in Japan
Antique Japanese Blue And White Cherry Blossoms design Cup and Saucer: This is the prettiest and most delicate antique teacup made of egg shell porcelain from Japan. I could not find anything concrete on the mark or its age. I did find one like it that was dated to around the 1910 to 1920's but could not see the bottom to see if the marks were the same. This cup and saucer are in wonderful shape there is not cracks. Or chips on either. The cup measures approx. 3 3/8" across and stands 1 3/4" tall. The saucer measures 5 1/4" across and stands 5/8" tall at the edge. I will ship these in a medium flat rate box to allow for plenty of packaging between them and the edges of the box. Therefore I'm asking for a flat rate of $7.00 and I will cover the rest of the shipping myself.
