Vintage 1950s Japanese "Geisha Girl" or Lithophane Bone China Tea Cup and Saucer
Japanese"Geisha Girl" or Lithophane Mark porcelain Tea Cup and Saucer Offered for sale is this vintage 1950’s miniature tea cup from the owner’s mother. The saucer shows Mount Fuji. A Japanese tea house and Pagoda. The cup repeats the scene with 2 small sailboats on a lake. There are no cracks. Chips or scratches that we could detect. The items are hand-painted and on the top of the handle is a small black line where the craftsperson didn’t quite cover the undercoat with gilding(see photo) Dimensions are: Saucer 3.75” Diameter. Cup 2.5” Diameter, total Hight 2” Below is what we found on the internet about this piece. This porcelain is well known and most often called"Geisha" or"Geisha girl" Porcelain. It is Japanese and my guess is that it is made at the Arita factory specifically for the Western market during ... morethe first decades of the 20 th Century up until the 1940's. Some sources indicate that porcelain with this mark could have been in production as late as in the 1960's. The inspiration for the Japanese"geisha girl" lithophane mark seems more than likely have come to Japan during their early contacts with the West around the turn of the 19th century. All kinds of decorative pieces. Probably mostly lanterns was made in this technique in Europe, with its popularity reaching its peak in the 1870's after which point they gradually went out of fashion. Originally. This technique seems to have been developed by the Koenigliche Porzellan Manufaktur(KPM) of Berlin in the 1820's and later patented in England, by Robert Griffith Jones in 1828. All of our items are offered by original owner or owner’s family and have always been kept in a smoke-free environment! If more information or photos are needed please request before bidding as we consider all sales final. We consider ourselves very straight forward in describing the condition of the items offered! Please examine pictures and description carefully before placing your bids photos are part of the description!

Vintage Japanese Somayaki Tea Cup Saucer Ochoko Sake Cup Fly Horse
Vintage Japanese Somayaki Tea Cup Saucer Ochoko Sake Cup Fly Horse Aloha Up for auction is a large somayaki tea cup. Somayaki is characterized by the crackling glaze called hibiyaki. It is also know for its double walled construction. The inner and outer pieces and made separately and let to dry. The inner piece is then joined to the outer piece and then fired. This design keeps the liquid inside hot while the outer surface says cool to the touch. Most also have a"hashiri-uma" or galloping horse motif painted in gold. This motif is said to have been requested by a feudal lord in the mid 1600s to show pride in the region's ability to bred and train quality horses. There are also cut-out designs that some say look like cherry blossom petals but others say they are the inprint of the horse's hooves. I like the cherry blossom ... moretheory. Up for auction is a vintage somayaki tea/coffe cup with a saucer plus an ochoko sake cup. Both have the hibiyaki crackling glaze. Only the sake cup has the golden horse. Have a great drink of sake followed by a great hot tea. What a great combination. Somayaki is made in Fukushima. These were made before the great earthquake. Japanese Thousand Faces eggshell porcelain two-handled tea cup, saucer, lid
Up for sale is a very fine porcelain two-handled tea cup. Saucer and lid, hand-painted and gilded, signed either by the maker or artist in Japanese script. Have seen many tea cup sets, but none with two-handles and a top with dragons. If someone can add information, I would be pleased to add it to this description. I will double box and wrap each piece carefully. Shipping is $15.50 for the Lower 48 states. Hawaii, Alaska and Canada as well as other countries will be a little more. Please send country and postal zone for an estimate before biding. You must have a certified address. No P.O. boxes. I accept PayPal only.

DISCLAIMER: I am now adding this to all of my listings. I have been doing this as a business only a few months now and am still learning everyday. I really thought. That because an item is listed as"used" that it was understood that it was"used" I have come to find out recently that that might not always be the case, so I felt I needed/wanted to add this little disclaimer, which is also a little about myself and the items I try to sell. When it comes to all of the"used" and"vintage" items. Almost all of these come from estate auctions. We live in a city where there are some very well off older citizens that owned and used"top shelf" everyday items. When I/we(my husband does this with me) go to these auctions, we have usually done a preview and know what we are looking for or wanting. I do go after specific items, however, I do sometimes purchase"box lots" Now even with these, I am or try to be discriminating. There is usually one or two things in these boxes that really interest or intrigue me. I have seve

Antique Japanese Egg Shell Porcelain Tea Cup Saucer Plate Set Geisha Girl Flags
Welcome to the Attic Japanese e gg shell tea cup& saucer Set. This is a very delicate Japanese teacup and saucer set made of egg shell porcelain. Egg shell porcelain is a very fine thin bone china that is translucent. This lovely tea set features a Geisha girl on a path in front of a house and flowers throughout a plaid design surrounded by early 1900's 8-ray Japanese Imperial Flags. This little set definitely dates back to pre WWII. 1910's-1930' The Asian scene has been hand painted in very rich multi-color features and accented with gold. All four pieces are in very good condition with an exception of one tiny chip on the inside rim of one tea cup and a hairline crazing crack on the inside of the other one. Each piece is stamped with hallmarks on the bottoms in Japanese. All pieces are slightly out-of-round making me believe ... morethey have been entirely handmade. Cups measure 2 3/8" 7.5 cm) in dia. on top and are 1 1/2" 4.5 cm) tall. Saucers are 4 1/4" 10.8 cm) in dia. The cup(without the handle is 8.7 cm(3 1/2” The condition of the cup& saucer is very good– No chips, cracks, or restoration. In my opinion, the cup dates to the late Edo or Meiji period, circa 1850-1900. Hisatomi Yojibei Masatsune with his oldest son. Masayasu(1812- 1878) operated the foreign trade of the porcelain ware in the late Edo period. In 1842 the family was officially licensed by Saga Han. Nabeshima Naomasa(1815- 1871) who granted the family a trade name, Zoshuntei. The Zoshuntei company was continued by Masayasu's younger brother, Yohei Masaoki(1832- 1871) and it held exclusive and much lucrative profits in the market until they lost their license to another local entrepreneur, the Tashiro family. Japanese Antique tea cup and saucer - lobed, hand-painted iris - elaborate gilt
This tea cup and saucer are true artistry. Look at the last two photos to see the detail in the hand-painted irises. The addition of gold/gilt is VERY generous and was carefully applied amongst the detailed painting of the leaves and flowers. The paint is raised to the touch. Particularly for the large Japanese Iris blooms. A single butterfly is hidden among the blooms on both the cup and saucer This is truly an outstanding set. They were in a collection that was carefully used for display& decorative purposes. CONDITION: The cup has no chips. Cracks or crazing. The cup handle has two small spots where the gold has worn off. one is 1/16" x 1/8" and the other 1/16" x 1/16" There seems to be another 1/8" spot on the cup where the paint has worn off. It is difficult to see unless you use magnification. The plate ... morehas a 1/16" chip on the right lobe. It is the same color as the gold but I could feel the chip. Again it is hard to see. I can't tell if was chipped before the plate was painted or chipped after and gold added to obscure the chip. The plate might have some minor paint loss but again it is difficult to determine what is an artistic brush stroke and what has worn off even with magnification. Inspect the photos and the description to determine if the condition meets your satisfaction. Please let me know if you have any questions. This listing is for US shipping locations ONLY Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!
