These were purchased at an estate liquidation in rural north Florida about 28 years ago. The individual was well known in the community as a traveler. Including China in his early years. We are not experts in this area, and will try to describe to best of our ability. Chop mark signatures on bottom of all. China" in gold over the chops, missing on several. Gilt on rims and gilt interior decoration is mostly gone. Lotus panels coming from bottom to lower edge of side. 4 cups have black decoration on side, 1 does not. I purchased this intricately glazed hand painted imari tea cup at a dealer only antique auction just outside of Kyoto. It came from an estate which had pieces dating over 300 years back. This is an aka imari( multicolored) ceramic tea cup which dates to the mid Meiji era(c. 1890) The outside is designed with multi color glazed work with hand painted details of flowers. Melons, and a butterfly. Around the lower and inner rim there is a lattice pattern in cobalt blue. This style tea cup was commonly used in the late Edo to mid Meiji Eras(c. 1850- 1890) Being all hand painted it is most likely from the early to mid Meiji Era as by 1900 the use of transfer print became the vogue. Japanese Imari Arita Fuki Chosun Soba Tea Saki Cup Husband and Wife Group Four
Group of four Japanese Arita porcelain bowls or cups in an unusual Imari pattern. Circa 2nd half 19th century. Three outer panels of decoration with the large panel depicting a man and woman. A small panel with diagonal strips, and a small panel which seems to be a landscape(looking through a window? Internal rim painted with a foliage pattern in blue and red and the bottom interior has a coiled dragon in blue. The footed cup is lobed(scalloped) with a stylized rim and has a Kanji four character Fuki Chosun mark. This cup can be used as a soba, tea, or sake cup. Wonderful hand painted cups in blue, red, and gold. 2 1/2" High with a 3 1/8" Diameter top rim.

Antique Japanese Imari Porcelain Tea Cup& Saucer signed Zoshuntei The saucer is approximately 12.5 cm(5” in diameter. The cup(without the handle is 8.7 cm(3 1/2” The condition of the cup& saucer is very good– No chips, cracks, or restoration. In my opinion, the cup dates to the late Edo or Meiji period, circa 1850-1900. Hisatomi Yojibei Masatsune with his oldest son. Masayasu(1812- 1878) operated the foreign trade of the porcelain ware in the late Edo period. In 1842 the family was officially licensed by Saga Han. Nabeshima Naomasa(1815- 1871) who granted the family a trade name, Zoshuntei. The Zoshuntei company was continued by Masayasu's younger brother, Yohei Masaoki(1832- 1871) and it held exclusive and much lucrative profits in the market until they lost their license to another local entrepreneur, the Tashiro family. Of inverted bell shape with a low footring, the interior with a diamond flower pattern at the rim alternating red flowers, and underglaze blue roundel in the bottom of a dragon. The exterior with panels of plants and clouds alternating Buddhist flames in ogee forms and bordered in similar underglaze blue diamond flower patterns. Base with a single blue ring. Unmarked. This is an imari ceramic tea cup. It dates to late Edo era(c. 1860) And is an appropriate size for a serving of Japanese tea. It has a hand painted design with shochikubai(pine, bamboo, and plum blossom, the"three elements of happiness" located around the outside(see pictures 3-5) On the bottom.
