This lovely tea set features a Geisha girl on a path in front of a house and flowers throughout a plaid design surrounded by early 1900's 8-ray Japanese Imperial Flags. This little set definitely dates back to pre WWII. 1910's-1930' The Asian scene has been hand painted in very rich multi-color features and accented with gold. All four pieces are in very good condition with an exception of one tiny chip on the inside rim of one tea cup and a hairline crazing crack on the inside of the other one. Each piece is stamped with hallmarks on the bottoms in Japanese. All pieces are slightly out-of-round making me believe they have been entirely handmade. Cups measure 2 3/8" 7.5 cm) in dia. on top and are 1 1/2" 4.5 cm) tall. Saucers are 4 1/4" 10.8 cm) in dia. Most amazing detail and craftsmanship but what's even more amazing is how this set survived all these years. All our items come from a smoke free and pet free home. Handpainted Kutani Eggshell porcelain tea cup, great condition
This is a great item. If you collect Kutani porcelain it is a little gem. Wonderful eggshell porcelain. Light as a feather, yet very strong, with the most detailed and elaborate decoration, all hand painted. It must have taken many hours of work to complete this little masterpiece. Three wonderful reserves pictue figures in conversation. And the body is covered in fabulous stylized chrysanthemums in gold over a red backgound. Signed with a six character mark on bottoms. Stands 2" high on a nice ring foot. Bowl is 4" wide at top. The size of a regular modern coffee cup. Just an elegant little item. Probably dates to early 20th century.

Up for sale is a very fine porcelain two-handled tea cup. Saucer and lid, hand-painted and gilded, signed either by the maker or artist in Japanese script. Truth be told, I am not an expert of Japanese ceramics, but I have compared it to pictures of other Thousand Faces items and believe this is mid-19th Century. Have seen many tea cup sets, but none with two-handles and a top with dragons. If someone can add information, I would be pleased to add it to this description. Antique/Vintage Pink Lustreware Eggshell Porcelain Tea Cup and Saucer-Japanese?
This auction is for a miniature porcelain tea cup and saucer that appears to be stamped"911" This looks to be a Japanese set. But without knowing the maker, I can't be sure. This set is nicely decorated with pink lustre color and a white center. The edges are trimmed in gold, as is the handle of the tea cup. The set does have very minor loss to some of the gold gilting and a very small chip on the inside rim and an aged crack on the inside of the cup. Neither of these can be seen from the outside of the cup. The cup does not have any other damage and the plate is in excellent condition. The saucer measures 4 1/2 inches in diameter and the cup is 2 3/4 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter. Hand Painted& Signed Cups: 2.8" Diameter; 2" Height Snack Tray: 8.25" Length; 4.75" Width; 8" Height This is a lovely set of tea cups and snack trays. Made from the thinnest of eggshell porcelain each cup and tray has been hand painted in the most delicate brush work you will ever see. Each scene is a work of art. Each cup has a different fowl design: Osprey or Eagle Egret Pigeon Goose Crane One snack tray is decorated with egrets and the other has pigeons. Both cups and snack trays are rimmed in gold with no gold loss. Each piece is signed with a 4 character chop. This signature is located by the handle of the cups ... moreand on the right front of the plates. The cups are unique in that they have a rim attached to the bottom of each one. This forms a"mini-saucer" and allows the cups to fit into the trays. They also can be used without the tray. Excellent Condition. I find no flaws with these. Even the gold is in great shape.
