SALE Antique large wood exterior shutter. 18 in. wide by 55 in. long and 1 1/2" thick. Made from three 6" x 3/4" boards with two 4" x 3/4" x 16" long cross boards. The shutter is heavy, made from a hardwood, perhaps oak but we don't know for sure. Each board has beveled edges along their length. Weight of shutter is 15 pounds. It is painted a reddish brown with a red coat underneath. On the backside the boards are rough and painted white. It has been cleaned up and ready to use. This a nice interior shutter featuring a diamond paneled bottom. It is comprised of 3-18" panels providing for a 54" overall width. One panel could easily be removed to achieve a 36" width. Five of the louvers have been replaced on this one. The hinges joining the panels are in good working condition. Hinges to attach the outer panel to your window will be required. This is set#2 of three identical sets I have for sale. I would rate this one in very good condition. They have been stored indoors in a heated environment. One side is red and the other side is a darker red-like a maroon. This is one complete pair. The shutter hardware is included but I don't have the hardware that attaches to the house. They are the mortise and tenon design and feature wooden peg joinery. These are in very good condition for their age. The frames are still tight and rigid with a little bit of weakness where the latches are on the bottom. The latch on the bottom of the left shutter is loose and will have to be strengthened. The hinges and locks are attached to the shutters but I don't have the other hinge that attaches to the house. 1800's Pr Primitive Country Louvered House Shutters 54.25" X 16.75" X 1.5" Black
Architectural Salvage of a Pair of House Shutters. Original to 1880 Country Home. These shutters were found in the attic space of the house that was cleared out. Unfortunately, Someone stole the other 2 pairs of matching shutters. These shutters are 54 1/4" tall. 16 3/4" wide and about 1 1/2" wide. I tried to take some photos of the details since I do not know the correct terminology. Please look closely at the photos. The neatest part of these shutters are the over sized large square nail heads that I think were purposefully left to protrude. Kind of a Pre Arts and Crafts sort of detail. Nice pair of vintage louvered wood shutters. The paint is coming off as shown in photos. These came off a house here in Texas. They had been on the home for 30 years. They had been recently painted, so there is some build up. These are great for craft projects or repurposing. This size measures 16 inches wide by 30 inches long. There are two panels measuring approx. 8 inches by 30 inches hinged together. The louvers have a wood rod for opening and closing(keep in mind there is paint build up on these, so the rod may not move freely) and a white knob handle with a latch. These came from a property in southern Pennsylvania. Just north of the Mason- Dixon line, that was originally built in 1780 and then had an addition built onto it in 1820. I believe these shutters were from the addition. What a great piece of history to own! One shutter is approx 67.5"x16" Has hardware as shown in pics. But I would guess first half of the 20th century. The house dated to the teens or 1920s. They appear to be older judging from the hardware and quality of construction, but I'm not an expert. Very Rare Fully Opening Hand Crafted 1800's Old Wooden Shutters, Real Architectural Work!Set#110 As this was made to last and Made of Solid Wooden Real Craft Work! Each Shutter Size is about 56"x 17 1/4 each. All slats open very eazy on this pair! This is a Very Nice Vintage, In Great Condition! Pictures have been taken both sides, sometimes the other side looks better! As this is Sold as per Pictures for Condition and this in the pictures is the ones you are buying! Please Note! Its winter here and have No outside water to wash off any Barn Dust this time of year, Shutters may have Old Dust on them this time of Year. Thank you for understanding! If the shutter you are looking at has movable shutter slats, If Not ... moreOpen In Pictures) in most times shutters from the 1800's will have paint build up and, if you want them to open you may have to scrap some paint on sides to free up the shutter. And also on slats that open, may be missing a staple to center rod and may be unhooked and will be able to open by hand if needed. Some may have Vintage Hardware and some maybe missing one or both hinges. As any Vintage Antiques and thats many years old may have small defects and may have a hole here and there. And will have scuffs and or some wood chips missing here and there as for the age. If any major defect will take a picture and list it also. As always any more info needed will get right back ASAP.
