Vintage, casement window stays salvaged from the windows of a former cream production plant(see last photos) in Southeastern Pennsylvania. The plant was built during the 1890's, however, these most likely replaced the originals sometime during the middle of the previous century. Each stay is made of solid steel. And was originally brass plated. Much of the plating wore off over the years leaving them with a nice, distressed finish. The amount of plating varies from part to part(see"Group photos" to compare) If you are not familiar with this type of hardware. It keeps the window open at a specified distance from the sill. When you wish to open the window, loosen the knob by simply turning it in a counter clockwise direction. Open the window as far as you like, and once you wish to lock it in place, simply turn the knob clockwise until can't turn anymore. This will prevent wind from moving the window. At the point of salvage. The stays were painted, dirty, and rusty(see"Prior to restoration" photo) Since then, we've spent hours removing the paint, cleaning the dirt and rust from the outside of each stay, and greasing them to facilitate their movement. All stays are in great shape with no breaks. Cracks, deep scratches, or gouges. All moveable parts move smoothly. Antique Window Hardware Two identical casement stays. However the thumb screws are different. These look like they were painted black, but appear to be solid brass. They are double armed, so I believe they are for a wider window length. Came out of an 1880s-era cottage in Eagles Mere PA. Measure 13-1/4" and 15-1/2" long. Clean and smoke-free home. Thanks.

Pair Antique Casement Window Stays Here is a nice old pair of brass Victorian-era Antique Friction-Type Casement Window Stays from an Atlanta. GA Inman Park 1906 bungalow. They measure about 11.5 inches closed and extend to about 19 inches, including screw holes. They do not have any identification markings. Pair are in good condition-one has been stripped and was polished at one time( please scroll down for additional photos) Mailed same or next business day. They can be shipped in a padded priority flat rate envelope with bubble wrap and cardboard protector to save on postage. But will not be as well protected as in a carton.
