2 Antique Victorian Window Latches Cast Iron With Brass Swivel Pins
2 very nice old window latch sets made of cast iron with heavy duty brass pins. They are fairly large and heavy measuring 2-1/2" wide. 3-1/4" deep, and about 1-1/8" tall to the top of the brass pins. They both work very well. When the round handle is lifted a rectangular tab comes out of a slot so the latch can be opened( rotated) There is a second slot that it drops into to hold the latch in the opened position( see last picture) These are in as found with some great patina. There is no maker's mark on them, but they came in a box with other latches with 1872& 1879 patents. These could probably work very well as cabinet or trunk latches also.

You’ll know right away the quality of these when you hold one of these in your hand just by the weight of it. The finish on these is still very good for their age and they have both their spring steel pieces ... morethat are still strong. The condition is good with all having some paint on them and all of them needing a cleaning. Many people don’t even know to check the spring steel pieces or how or what to replace them with if they are going bad but be assured these were checked out and oiled lightly. Base of lock is about 2 5/8” x 1” and the keeper is about 2 5/8” x ½” Oil has been applied but they should have a final cleaning and clear coated or painted for continued protection.
