Antique Barn? Hinge-12 5/8" L X 3" W X 7/16" Thick! 2" Opening!
Okay. I really do not know what this held in place but it came from a site I was metal detecting this summer on a former farm that dated from the 1850's-1940's. It is extremely heavy duty and the two bolts that held it in place are rusted in their holes(2) This might have also come from a piece of farm machinery. Possibly held an axle to a frame? It's thick and heavy and old. It was found nearly a foot down in the ground but is solid as a rock. Lot of 10 Rustic Primitive Vintage Hinges Barn Hinge Latch Loop Barn Find Yeh! My favorite flea market opened for the season. And I am still listing items from my antique store trip as well as the farm auction sale- there’s loooots of new items this week, and something for everyone! Here's my last farm auction barn hardware lot to list this morning. And then I have to zip out and do some treasure hunting for you! It's another lot of 10- this time hinges- all made of steel except the larger antique red one that I do believe is iron- see photos 8-9. That one has very shabby chippy and worn barn red paint with what looks like was white underneath that. It measures 9 1/2" long when laying flat and 2 3/4" widest at the hinge. It weighs just under 1 lb and the hinge moves freely and easily. Next, I have 4 smaller steel hinges ... morethat you see in photos 2-4. They measure 3 3/4" long when laying flat on the table by 2 7/8" wide at the hinge and each weighs about 2 ounces. They all move with a little force applied(not alot, though- they move) Next, I have the three smallest that you see in photos 5-7. They measure 4" long by 1 1/6" when laying flat on the table and weigh about an ounce each. The hinges move very freely and easily. Next, you see what looks like a latch loop to me in photos 11& 12. At first I thought it goes to my last hinge(like a hook and eye) but that doesn't work as this is a closed loop, and that's a hinge that goes back and forth like a door hinge, not up and down like a latch hook. This one has a mounting back that is"rounded' triangular in shape and it measures 1 1/4" wide by 2" tall and the loop is 1 1/4" long by 1/4" deep. It has a black finish and three mounting holes. Last is another favorite in photos 12-14. It's a hinge with a very Colonial style and a dark black finish with almost a pounded look to it. It measures 7 3/8" and 1 3/4" wide at the hinge end. You are bidding on an antique cast iron. Forged barn door/gate strap hinge with early spade head design. The hinge is 35.5" long and 2.5" wide at the hinge tapering to 1.5" at the spade head. It is very heavy and is 1/2" thick at the hinge and 1/4" thick at the head. The opening in the hinge is approximately 5/8" in diameter. Strap still has old barn paint on it. LARGE PAIR VINTAGE BARN DOOR STRAP HINGES, 27" LONG GOOD CONDITION w/small hinge
Two large barn door strap hinges with lots of character. Measures 27" long. These were used on a very old industrial building. They both have a couple of bends/tweaks to them but overall very good shape. The top one does have the edge of the hinge(not the strap part) that has a bent corner that needs hammered back out. There is even a smaller hinge included with the two large ones.

Set of 6 Original Vintage 12" Steel Iron Barn Door Strap Hinge Gate Hardware Lot
For your consideration is a set of six old barn/ gate strap hinges. Each hinge has a 12" overall length. The 5 hole mounting plate is 5 1/2" tall by 2 1/2" wide to the center of the pin. The 4 hole mounting plate is 3" tall with an overall length 10" to the center of the pin. The steel is aproximately 1/8" thick and each hinge is weighs just over 1 1/2 pounds. I have pulled the pins on each one to make sure none were broken and each hinge moves as it should. These hinges are being sold as found with dirt. Rust and a little paint on them.
