Large Vintage Brass Mail Magazine Letter Door Spring Loaded Slot Complete
This very nice large vintage mail and magazine door slot is a fully functional piece that could also be re-purposed. There are some numbers on the inside ends that are shown in some photos. But I saw no identifying manufacturers' marks. Overall measurements are 15 7/8" x 3 7/8" Slot measurements are 12 1/4" x 2 1/2" This will work on a door up to 1 3/4" thick with the original screws that are provided. Good vintage as found condition. Meaning it has some of the old sealant and weatherstripping foam still on the inside surfaces. Nice patina! Use the zoom to confirm the condition!

What an exciting find.fresh from a local estate: a solid brass antique letter/mail opening/slot for a door. Dates from the early part of the 20th Century and backplate measures 8 1/2" long overall. It is 3 3/4" tall. The long screws on the back which go through the door are 2 3/8" long. The measurement of the long screws is 6 1/2" on center. This measurement is where it would go through the door itself. There are some numbers on the underside of the bail handle. 378?38 and Reg'd. Condition is excellent: no damage, nice patina, nothing missing, the handle is secure. This is ready to install in your door. the end of one wire is sticking out and needs to be bent back) This is an original. NOT a reproduction. Up for auction is a wonderfully old antique or vintage combination mail letter slot and door knocker. I believe this is from the 1920s. The slot/knocker is likely solid brass. It weighs 1.3 pounds. As you can see from the photos it needs a serious cleaning/polishing- however, as I have no idea if the buyer would prefer to have this'history' cleaned off or not- I'm leaving it as is. I have a very nice antique letter mail slot with matching backplate for your consideration. This is in very nice condition with the hinge pins snug and pivot smoothly. this one would have typically been used on a front door of a residence or private business. All the parts are heavy cast brass manufactured by RH Co. Circa early 1900's. Some casting marks appear. See a pics for details. Beautiful coloring and patina on the exterior letter plate and to a lesser degree on the interior cover plate. There is a small drip of paint on the interior plate that I did not want to clean off and destroy the patina but if you want to polish them up it will clean off easily. Antique mail slot vintage letter door hinged plate cast brass hardware
I have a nice pair of heavy cast red or yellow brass mail door slots for your consideration. These are early high quality manufacture from around 1910 or so. Pivoting hinged door springs are both strong and ready for reuse. Inside door opening is 1 5/16 x 5 1/4 inches. Out side measurements are 2 3/8 x 7 1/4 inches. Set screws are 6 5/16 ctr to ctr. across. Marked Russwin 22. You will need to find an inside square brass trim plate that will fit your cutout or fabricate something out of wood trim for the inside of the door and a couple standard thread set screws.
