Unusual Antique Brass Twist Latch, Lock, For Cupboard, Cabinet, Doors
You are bidding on an early cupboard. Cabinet, or door twist latch lock. It is made out of brass. It is quite heavy. It measures about 2 7/8" x 2 1/2" and 2 1/2" high(from top of twist handle to where it would sit flush with door) It is in very good working condition. I see no makers names. I dont have the catch for this latch. This latch has a nice looking old patina. I am not sure of the age of this latch. This latch is in very good condition. Up for auction are 10 antique cabinet latches and 3 drawer handles from the late 1800's. The bronze round handles are in good shape. These are very ornate. Look at the pictures carefully. You can see the bronze still on most pieces. They were painted twice and I stripped off the paint. There was some rust on the inside but I have removed much of it and oiled each latch. This is a vintage Pair of antique finger grip or pull Cupboard or cabinet latches or locks. Both are the same style and shape. The latches are cast iron with a bronze or brass plating on the edges. finger pulls work fine. When pulled they both go back in place. Very nice condition. The latches or locks is 1/2" and about 1/2" thick. The latch measures 2 1/4" wide and is 1 1/4" not counting finger pull with finger pull 2 1/8" x 1/2" thick. The BIN price is for one(1) of the pictured latches and one(1) keeper along with non-original slotted screws. Because these came out of an old hardware store storage shed these could very well have never been used(and few scratches around the screw holes) but because I couldn’t verify that I’m selling these as used. This style and size and the fact that they are solid cast brass/bronze make these some of the hardest to find latches. With the ... moreprice of brass and the fact that almost everything today is imported and made out of some type of cheap pot metal makes the likelihood of anything like these being made again slim to none. These are primarily used on casement windows but they work well and look great on cabinets or other places you’d like to use a unique looking latch. The latch and keeper will work on either right or left hand side of door or window. The latches are surface mounted and the keepers are mortised in the jam. I also have some on another listing that the keepers are surface mounted. The latches and keepers are cast bronze– brass. The working condition is very good with the latches having an age darken spotted patina(what you see is not rust, brass doesn’t rust) All I did to these was a quick wiping down with an oiled rag so you’re getting them in as found condition. But solid brass/bronze will polish up superbly using a buffing wheel with a dab of brass polish on a power drill if that’s the look you’d prefer. The approximate measurements of the latch is 6 1/8” long x 1 1/8” and the center to center of the screw holes is 1 3/8’ x ¾” And the keeper is ¾” wide x 2 ½” long and the center

Antique Eastlake / Victorian/Architectural Brass Cabinet / Chest Lock Latch 1897
Very nice antique brass ornate Eastlake/ Victorian ice box or cabinet door latch/ lock. The back reads Pat. June 29-97 and there is an L on each also. These Antique Brass Latch's would make a great addition to a collection or are great for a restoration project! Lock/ latch is 3 1/2" tall x 2 1/8" wide not including the latch portion itself which protrudes approx. 3/8" Appear to be in very good used condition with definite signs of age. Wear and a great patina. There are no breaks but some light rust on the cast iron part in the back. When you lift the handle the latch goes up and down like it should. I do not have a key. this was in the drawer of an early home that was cleaned out here on the seacoast of NH. I believe that these could work if you found the right key. being sold as is.
