But it is minimum 120 years old and could be much older. It has been in the family for that long minimum as my great grandmother used it as a dough bowl. The bowl has cracks and the metal rim is seperated from the wood in spots. The patterns and imperfections in the wood are very cool. Please check out the pictures. I JUST FOUND THIS REALLY EARLY AND FINE THICK TURNED MAPLE WOOD BOWL FROM AN OLD COLLECTORS ESTATE. THEY BOUGHT THIS IN THE 1960'S AND HAS NOT BEEN ON THE MARKET SINCE THAT TIME. FIRST PHOTO SHOWS ITS TRUEST COLOR ON OUTSIDE OF BOWL THOUGH IT IS JUST A HAIR LIGHTER. THE OTHERS ARE JUST A HAIR LIGHTER THAN IT IS IN PERSON. I USED ALL 12 PHOTOS AVAILABLE TO SHOW ALL PARTS OF ITS SURFACE ALL THE WAY AROUND. INTERIOR WAS NEVER SCRUBBED DOWN TO OPEN THE GRAIN OR PATINA. A WELL THOUGHT OUT PIECE. SURFACE LOOKS TO HAVE BEEN VERY LIGHTLY WAXED MAYBE 30-40 YRS AGO. A FEW SLIGHT BURN MARKS ON TOP EDGE ONLY IN ONE AREA AS SHOWN IN 1ST PHOTO. This is a most unique kidney-shaped. Rustic BURL WOOD vintage BOWL. I was told this is probably CEDAR due to the variety of wood tones within it but I don't pick up a cedar smell so I'm not sure.
