This spoon is from my personal collection of 40 years. Auctions Cheerfully Combined! This sterling silver teaspoon measures 5-7/8" long and is in excellent condition with no dings. Monograms or excessive wear although there is a date, 1908, on the heel of the bowl. The spoon is clearly marked STERLING and has a almost obliterated triangle mark of Mayer Bros. of Seattle Washington. Condition: Excellent! There are no dings or bends. Any dark or overly bright spots are reflections from the camera or the lights and are not on the spoon. FYI: This entire spoon has a matte finish and will never be shiny. This is a factory applied patina and is listed in various catalogs as a satin. Pearl, gray or French gray finish. Any attempt to make this spoon'shiny' will ruin it! This heavy bas-relief(embossed) handle begins with a detailed portrait of the Great Seal of the State of California with EUREKA arching above Minerva's head. Below the Seal is a portrait of the State Capitol Building in Sacramento. Then there is a California Poppy flower above a diagonal flag-pole with the California Bear Flag hanging from the pole. Beneath that is a portrait of the Wawona Tunnel Redwood Tree with WAWONA under it. The remainder of the handle had scrollwork along the edges with CALIFORNIA stacked down the center. The back of the bas-relief handle begins with a portrait of the third version of the Cliff House in San Francisco(this version existed from 1896 to 1907) with CLIFF HOUSE above it. Up for sale we have a great estate find! Here is a lot of five pieces of California redwood from a family trip that took place in 1941. There is one checker pattern bowl that measures 10" in diameter and about 2" deep. The bowl also has a lithograph of a redwood forest attached to the bottom. Next there is a plate that is about 8" in diameter and is marked"PHA Crafts SW" and also is marked by the previous owner with the date of their trip along who went. Also included is a vase that is 3 1/2" tall and two toothpick holders that are about 2" tall. These three objects have also been tagged by the original owner. The bowl shows a good amount of wear and has a small spot of gray paint on one side. The vase and the toothpick holders also have their fair share of scratches. The bowl is a very nice Pieced turned pattern. Kind of a checker board look. The lid is also turned and pieced rim. It has great patina from age to the finish. It measures 9 1/2" across and 5 1/4" high without lid on and 6 1/4" tall approx. with lid on. Lid has a raised rim on top all pieced and center of lid has handle. This is a beautiful California Redwood Forests nut bowl made by Standard Specialty Co. San Fransisco. There is a crack going across the bottom, but does not take away from it. The bowl is in great shape. Minor dings from use. The center metal piece is missing. They would use a hammer or mallet to crack the nuts on the centerpiece. Thus the dings. Using nut crackers would keep the bowl from getting anymore dents. The label on the back has peeled a little. But still readable. The bowl is 8 1/2" across and 2 1/2" tall. The knob is recessed, but easy to use. There is also some piecing on the raised part of the lid. There is most of a sticker left on the base. This is a beautiful vintage retro arts and crafts large wood bowl with alternative inlay wood from the almighty protected Redwood Forest of California. Nice intact excellent shape label on bottom reads. Standard specialty co. San Francisco Products of the California Redwood Forests. Protected now. Measures approx. 7 1/2" diameter by 5" high not including little handle. Complete with original lid. Very nice shape no major damage has couple tiny little chips on top rim. And a small looks like a defect in the wood small spot on side.You can see in the pictures for final detail. I like to note everything I see.But piece is very nice and you can see in the pictures it has good wear for something with this age.
