Large 16" Vintage Primitive Wooden Munising Dough Mixing Bowl
This auction is for a large wooden"Munising" dough bowl. The underside is marked"Munising" and the outside features a carved out spot for gripping. It measures 16" in diameter at its widest& is 4 3/4" deep on the inside. The bowl is free of cracks. Chips and other major flaws. It is in overall good used condition showing light wear from normal use. Weighs about 3 1/4 pounds. No Reserve.

Hi. Here is a vintage Munising wooden footed bowl with a handle. It is approximately 8 1/2" in diameter with a 6" handle and about 2 1/2" tall. It is in great shape with the exception of some scuffing to the varnish on the handle as you can see in the pictures. If you want a better primitive look you could do some additional scuffing. I can't identify the wood but it appears to be from a burl of some sort-very wavy grain like a tiger maple I tracked down some info on Munising( label brands and this appears to be the third version. From the 1930s. Munising Wood Products existed from 1911 to 1955 and began branding their products in the 20s. DEAR REENACTORS AND COLLECTORS. WOOD YOU LOOK AT THIS? Presented new debut freshly picked from the trade field is this magnificent marked Munising vintage Wood Bowl with good age. Primitive handsome appearance, and highly useful in encampment kitchens for period correct cooking presentations. Please study the pictures, and in last photo, see how vintage wood bowls go to work in actual useage in summer encampment when you are on the road and it is meal time for the family and troops. The hardwood bowl has seen use over time with tight grain and a few darkened spots on the inner patina. Not grease, just age spots here and there. It is slightly ovoid shape with shrinkage of time measuring 12" by 13.5" this is a LARGE bowl to hold much fruit, etc for serving as shown suggested use, with excellent character earned by an honest antique. ... moreThe rim is 1/2" sturdy thick and bowl stands 4 1/4" off surface off table. It is clearing impressed MUNISING on the flat bottom surface, a coveted name in signed treen ware for collectors. Condition Report: As found original bowl from the field. It has a 2.5" TIGHT crack running diagonally off the edge, stable, you cannot see light through it when held up to view, meaning no open separation. This is an age crack. Tiny 1/2" fissure crack on opposite rim, almost insignificant to reenactor use, just want to mention all accuracies. The bowl shows well, is useable, clean, no odors, my home is smoke free, and high bidder acknowledge and accepts the status report and does not argue after arrival, they failed to notice the small crack. This is not a reproduction, foreign import, or fake primitive made to look old, it IS genuine old and worthy of antique show table top offerings in summer outdoor shows for collectors. Weighing in at 2 pounds 8 ounces I will mail this wonderful Munising Bowl to one lucky bidder via Priority by weight with insurance. Vintage Munising Dough Bowl, Oval 11.75" Primitive yet Elegant, Signed
For auction is a very handsome example of a Munising dough bowl. Based on the mark on the bottom(straight script with rounded top M) this bowl would have been made anywhere from the late 1930's to mid 1950's. My guess. Based on other Munising bowls I've seen, would be early to mid 1940's. This bowl is especially nice because not only is it oval, but it's also slightly lower on one side, which gives it an elegant"swirl" effect. SIZE: It is 11.75" long and 10-3/8" wide. The height at each long end is approx. 2-5/8 inches; but the height on the sides is approx. 2.5" and 2-3/8" respectively. CONDITION: This bowl has been used! The result is a rich patina with color variations throughout. The photographs make it appear brighter than it is. The second photograph is the most representative. And of ... morecourse there are quite a few scratches and worn spots from years of chopping dough. To the touch, the wood has a cool damp feel, which suggests to me that it may have been submerged in water. These bowls should be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth or sponge and treated periodically with a food grade mineral oil. My advice for this beauty would be to give it a rest for several months and use it to sore hard fruits such as apples, pears, oranges, etc. It will look stunning on a kitchen counter, sideboard, or even as a centerpiece on a dining table. One nests in the other nicely as it is a bit smaller. apprx measurements are. 10 7/8 x 10 3/8 x 2 1/2 11 1/4" x 10 1/2" x 2 3/4" No chips or cracks to the wood just some normal scratches from use. What a fabulous find! These are two small. Fabulous slightly oval shapedm thick wooden salad or fruit bowls turned from a solid piece of wood with rounded edges from Munising, Michigan. I haven't found anything like them(oval, small, rounded edges) on Ebay or elsewhere! My mother bought these many years ago with the intent to paint them, but never did. She was an amazing tole painter) They are in superb condition except for stains that would come from normal usage. See photos for details. The factory sadly burned in 1955, so these are older than that. Size is 6.5 inches at its widest diameter. Height about 1.5 inches- thickness about 3/8 inch. Wow. It doesn't appear to have been used much. But does have a few minor scratches and scrapes on the interior. Nothing that significantly mars or detracts from the finish. Vintage Primitive Rustic Shabby Wood Wooden Munising Bowl Small Oblong 8” x 9”
Oval. Rustic farmhouse-style wooden bowl by Munising, measuring approximately 9” by 8” by about 1.5” deep. My guess is that it was a salad bowl. Back says, Do not immerse. Wipe only. Munising Woodenware was in business from 1911 to 1955. So this bowl is at LEAST 57 years old. I took photos with the flash both on and off, to give a better idea as to hues/ color. It shows many of having been well-loved and purposeful for many years. But has no cracks or chips. It’s sturdy and intact. It has some scratch marks, a little pitting, and some variegation of the color on the inside. Please see all photos. VINTAGE MUNISING PRIMITIVE WOOD DOUGH BOWL OUT OF ROUND 11" SIGNED 1930s/1940s Description Up for bids is a used vintage Munising dark wood dough/chopping bowl found at an estate sale. I believe this bowl dates to the 1930's or 1940's. It appears to be a very solid hardwood. Perhaps maple. The bowl measures 11-1/8" across one way and 10-9/16" across the other way. It is just under 3" in height. It weighs just under 1-1/2 pounds. This wonderful old bowl is in good shape without any splits or cracks. It does have stains/dark discolorations and chopping marks from use. I'm not sure if the wood was stained or the natural color. Up for Auction is an ANTIQUE VINTAGE PRIMITIVE WOODEN MUNISING DOUGH BOWL. Made in the 1920's to 1930's. According to the research on the internet the block letter brand marks are one of the earliest bowls. Probably 1920's and early 1930's. It is about 12" diameter to 12 3/4" diameter from outside edge to outside edge. It is about 3 1/2" high. It has wear. Marks, scratches, knife marks, fading, aging. This is a lot of 3 vintage wooden bowls. These look like Munising to me but none of them are marked. They are all maple and ovoid in shape. Primitive condition. Two with hand painted fruits, and one with just remnants of painting. These are all large bowls, the one with no paint left is a large 13½ x 12½ and is 5" tall with round ball feet. The one with fruit clustered and a red stripe is the same size but not footed and 4" tall. The one with fruits all over is 11x10x3. Nice for fall or display. Pretty nice lot, no chips or cracks. VINTAGE PRIMITIVE MUNISING WOODEN BOWL 0VAL
This bowl is great for those who love primitives. It has a great worn look. I am not well versed in wooden bowls but I do love primitives and can hardly pass them up ever! This bowl is in great shape with lots of character markings. It is an oval or egg shape. No cracks or damage that I can tell. The photos make it look a little lighter than it actually is. It is 12 3/4inches wide from outside rim and it is 14 inches long. Rim is a little over 1/2 inch wide. Bowl is 4 1/2 inches tall. Perfect time of year to display this great primitive. It is marked Munising on the bottom and has what looks like Do Not Immerse on it. This was an estate find and I do not know the age.

Pre-Owned Items. In Typical Vintage Condition! The paddle has some cracks, evident in pics. Dimensions- Bowl is 4" Deep with 13" Diameter. Paddle is 7 5/8" Long and 2 5/8" Wide.
