It measures 11" diameter x 6" high. The top bowl has been hand turned from a block made up of Eleven pieces of wood, compressed together. The bowl and base have been tightly joined without the use of screws. The wood is a type of Mahogany with the various grains of the 11 pieces forming an attractive pattern. It is in VERY GOOD CONDITION. With no chips, cracks or repairs, just very minor marks in the polish consistent with age. It is finished with a shiny wax polish. Beautiful 5 1/2" antique hand turned mahogany wood bowl. It has a geometric veneer inlay band around the outside of the bowl. The piece is 5 1/2" wide x 2 1/8" tall. Opening at the top of the bowl is 4 1/2" Retains the same fine finish it had when I purchased it decades ago. Green felt has a small piece missing. Otherwise the felt and bowl are in very good condition. There are no cracks, scratches or splits in the wood. Great for trinkets, storing change, cuff links, etc. No reserve! Very Fast Handling! This auction is for a very nice solid Mahogany bowl with Sterling Silver ball feet that measures approximately 10-1/2 inches in diameter by 3-3/4 inches high. The ball feet are 7/8 inches and are all marked"Sterling. The bowl dates to about the late 1960's to very early 1970's. It is in exceptionally nice condition for it's age too. There are some small nicks and scratches from use. But nothing major and most are hard to notice. The interior of the bowl has wear and shows some areas of discoloration but, again, nothing that would detract from the beautiful patina this item retains. Exquisite color. Exquisite carving, exquisite wood, exquisite condition. This is a magnificent antique hand carved two-section bowl in a leaf design. Made of solid mahogany from one piece of wood, the sections are smooth and deep. The stem of the leaf is the bowl"handle" A sublimely grand representative of Haitian folk art craftsmanship. The color of the wood is stunning. The back of the bowl has a very old label affixed that reads"Mme. Fred Woolley Made in Haiti Solid Mahogany" There is something additional written under the second white label, but I cannot discern what it says. The bowl is 15" X 6.5" X 1.75" It is in superb condition for its age.

Mid centruy genuine Mahogany and sterling silver large bowl. The bowl is huge. Measuring 12 inches across the widest part at the top, almost 6 inches deep and about 36 inches around the widest part. The bowl itself is made of gorgeous genuine mahogany. It is in very good condition with some minor scratches on the inside of the bowl, the outside is really in great shape. The base is sterling silver and is somewhat tarnished and should be polished. The shape of this bowl is unique and reminiscent of danish design. This bowl is at least 50 years old, probably older and still holds a faint scent of the mahogany wood. It was given to my aunt for her wedding and has only been hers. At the time it was purchased it cost $75.00. Really gorgeous bowl.

Antique 19th C. TURNED MAHOGANY 8" Wood Bowl w/ MALLEABLE CAST IRON Nut Cracker
For sale is an antique turned wood bowl with a cast iron nut cracker. The wood is mahogany with a lacquer finish. The center nut cracker post is made of malleable cast iron with an embossed grain or leaf design. The cast iron has been annealed with a golden yellow color to give it the appearance of brass. There is an indent at the top of the post for holding your favorite nut in place while you whack it with a mallet(mallet or hammer not included) This post is threaded into the center hole in the bowl. This bowl is approximately 8 inches in diameter and 2-1/8 inches tall(not including the center post) Including the center nut cracking post. It is approximately 3-1/2 inches tall. This is a heavy piece weighing 1-3/4 pounds. This piece has no maker's markings on either the bowl or cast iron post. The age range estimate is based upon the ... morestyle of the piece. The manufacturing method used, the materials used, and the condition of the piece. Manufactured turned wood bowls like this would be common for the 19th and early 20th century time frame. The mahogany wood, lacquer finish, and malleable iron post are all typical of mid to late 19th century to early 20th century materials. The patina built up on the wood and cast iron post also support this age estimate. This piece is in very good used primitive condition. The original lacquer finish is worn in spots but a natural patina has built up. There are some scuffs and scratches from use as to be expected. There are a couple of small spots of errant paint on the outside of the bowl that I have not attempted to remove but they could easily be removed. There is a split in the wood bowl where the original planks were joined together prior to turning. It remains very solid and useable. The flat base of the bowl is rough in one spot from manufacturing. Please see photographs. There is no other damage such as chips and no repairs have been made to it. But I have discovered that most wooden items from Haiti were mahogany, so being that there is no marking of the type of wood it is, I am using mahogany in my listing. The eight salad bowls are made by West Indies Mahagony Inc. from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Made of solid Santo Domingo Mahogany. The salad bowl has some scratches on it. For your consideration a turned wooden bowl by Robert W. Chatelain(American born 1945) This bowl is a fine example of a traditional form thin walled mahogany turning by Mr. Chatelain. The condition is very good. Estate purchase in the Boston area and being sold as found in very good condition. The bowl is about 8 inches diameter at the widest by 2 inches tall. The fine mahogany wood grain has been slightly bleached by the artist to bring out the yellow in the wood. The base appears to be more natural or enhanced to bring out the red in the wood. R.W. This is one very well hand made bowl by a very skilled Artisan. This one is hard to figure out how in the world did they do it as it has a very pretty pink Onyx stone which goes all around the center which you can see through it when it is held up to the light as I have tried to show in the photos. There is a white paper on the bottom which reads# 1396 Imbuya Vase Wenge Maple Padauk- Padauk Wenge Maple Mahogany. This is artist signed as I have shown in the photos which I could not read also# 7/100 also the number 1396. This is 3 inches high with the round base foot and 5 inches in diameter across the top and 2 inches deep. Also 15 inches around the inside top rim and 20 3/4 around the middle and 3 1/4 across the base and 10 1/4 around the base. There is very light marks on bottom of large bowl from shelf-sitting since 1967 when I received this as a wedding gift and one small spot near top on side where it has a small scratch. I used it once for popcorn and rinsed out-no utensil marks whatsoever and cracks other than mentioned. This is a hand turned mahogany bowl. Salad, fruit, or just as décor. It is made by Michael C. Fina Company& has a sterling base. There is an inscription on the sterling base that says, President's Club 1959. It is approximately 6 inches high& approximately 11.5 inches across. The bowl has a dipped design in the front. There are some expected scatches from normal everyday wear or use, but is in good condition. English mid-Georgian mahogany tea caddy with original glass mixing bowl
English mid-Georgian tea caddy of Santo Domingo mahogany wood. With original hand blown and cut glass mixing bowl inside; flanked with removable, tin, hinged lid, tea-storage compartments, hand made by a tinsmith, they have worn original, black paint. The original hand blown round, mixing bowl( with ground out pontil and'bubbles in the glass) is 4 1/2" tall and 4" in diameter at top, it is supported on a round foot. NB: 3/8" chip on foot could be repaired. The cuts in the glass start with tiny swags at the bottom and between lateral cut lines there are in the middle, fine'reed-cut' undulating vertical lines; at the top is a wide band of cut diamond shaped-raised nibs. The glass bowl sits in its own loose fitted wood and red-paper-lined box. NB: There is some staining and other marks, on the original red paper lining, ... moreinside the lid. The brass lock is original but does not work. There is a small key of contemporary age to the lock. The brass hinges are original, with some hand-cut slot screws. The mahogany veneered box has a'flame' figured top, front and back, with'crotch' figured ends. The top sides and base are from the same cuts of matching veneers.Some ancient restoration has occurred, possibly when the box was made, with hard wax filling of small veneer section's. The'secondary' wood is American yellow'sugar pine' Overall, the polish finish is in fine condition, with beautiful patina from age and use. The underside of the base is covered with replacement, very old and used red velvet. The key escutcheon insert is diamond shaped and made from bone. The lid lifting handle and back plate on the top, are made from patinated bronze. A very fine example from the period, considering age and use.
