THIS VERY ORNATE AND HIGH END TRUNK HAS ITS ORIGINAL PLEATED LID LINER WITH THE FLEUR-DE-LIS PATTERN. AND ORIGINAL CLOTH ON THE BOTTOMS OF BOTH TRAYS. DRUCKER USED THE FRENCH FLEUR-DE-LIS PATTERN FOR THEIR HIGHEST QUALITY TRUNKS. THE SPECIALLY DESIGNED AND PATENTED HARDWARE WAS CLEANED AND FINISHED WITH A CLEAR SATIN FINISH FOR A SOFTER LOOK. Antique Victorian 1800's Wooden Dome Top Trunk Old Lock Original Finish Description: Antique Victorian 1800's Wooden Dome Top Trunk Old Lock Original Finish ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Offered is a great antique wood dome top trunk. It has the original finish and great old hardware lock. Purchased at an antique auction it dates to the mid to late 1800's. The inside of the trunk is lined with layers of antique newspapers dating to 1865. Great old advertising. The newspapers are not in the best of condition and are hanging in some areas and falling apart. I have left them as they were found because it does help verify the age of the trunk. Most people will want to remove the paper and clean the trunk. You may be able to save some of the newspaper and advertising. The trunk measures about 11 inches high. It is 11 inches deep(front ... moreto back) and 21 inches side to side. It is in good antique condition. There are imperfections as would be expected. Marks in the wood here and there and there is a slight separation of the boards on one end as shown in the photos. Please refer to photo#5. The lid of the trunk has a separation in the boards; please refer to photos 7& 8. An unusual lock which I am not familiar with. It has a small lever which slides over the opening for the key and this does stick a little; it should loosen up nicely with a little care. I do not think all of the lock is there; it appears there should be another piece on the lid. As I said I am unfamiliar so I am not sure; just using my best guess in regards to the lock. Please refer to photo# 6. There is no key. Wonderful old trunk. It looks great displayed and would be a nice addition to any collection. A Scarce Antique Victorian Half Trunk In Exceptional condition This Trunk was recently acquired from an estate in Upstate NY This 19th Century Stage coach trunk is crafted of wood(probably pine panels with ash bands) with metal reinforcements at the corners. It is quite unusual in size measuring just 17" at its highest. 16" deep and 16" wide. It retains its original paper covered wooden tray insert as well its original decorative print on the inside of the lid. The Decorative print in the lid depicts a beautiful woman adorned in Victorian style. it is in exceptional condition with no breaks or losses and only enough wear to attest to its age. This is a lovely wooden box that has clearly been used over the years.probably as a work box. The red lining paper is original and someone in 1858 wrote on the paper that they began to learn the organ.The wood is in nice condition but there has at some time been a little woodworm in the back of the box but it looks like this was cleared up many years ago.Sadly there is not a key. This was Elisabeth and Paul Brown's trunk! All original hardware and original Victorian picture inside the lid of SWANS swimming in a pond amongst water lilies. BEAUTIFUL WOOD GRAINS beneath all the dust( See pic#5 and#6 where I took a damp rag and rubbed off the dust to show the wood grain) this trunk has been in Ralph's garage/untouched for over 65 years. The second was bought at an antique store in the 70's for $150 and was estimated at over 100 years old then. It has WWII newspapers in the bottom yet. Used for decoration only.
