Im not sure if its all hand hammer or if its copper brass or bronze nor its exact age ... moreyou collectors will be the judge. I can tell you its very very old i could not find another one like it any ware on the computer. It looks like the person who owned it has a old drill bit and screw it on to a old antique block of solid wood. It does screw off its not welded on the drill bit. When you look at the bottom ware screw threads are it begins with a white metal but then it turns into a brass color metal so thats why i my self think its solid brass or bronze but again you collectors will be the judge. Please see the very close up picture of the threads and you will see exactly what i mean about the threads turning into a brass color after the first 4 or 5 threads. If any one can tell me any information about it please do. From the point of his beck to the tail its around 16 1/2 inches long. then from top of tail to bottom of tail its almost 10 inches long. then from his belly to top of his head around 12 inches tall then from one side of his body to other side its around 3 1/4 inches fat. Then when sitting on the block from the bottom block of wood to the top of the head its around 26 1/2 inches tall. The wood base it self is 2 1/2 inches thick and left to right around 6 1/2 and front to back around 6 inches long. Still in very good solid condtion i do not see anything broken at all. Again if any one can please tell me who made this and its exact age and what its made of i thank you very much for your help. This was found from the same estate sale as my old antique Gothic chandeliers plus a very old hunting duck hat with old pins on it that i have listed on ebay please have a look at them if you like. Primitive Vintage Antique Weather Vane Rooster From the estate of a local antique collector. This is a nice Rooster Weather Vane. Nice decorative rooster, made from copper that has developed a nice aged green patina. He is standing on an arrow and there is a pole that extends downward to attach it to a pole. He is in good vintage condition, the feather on the arrow has separated from the shaft about 3/4 of the length, but it still remains attached. Rooster measures 18" tall. 16" wide, the arrow is 24" long and the pole extends below the arrow for just over 2" Nice Primitive Weather Vane Rooster. Great Primitive Piece to use inside or out. Recent estate sale purchase. Bridport, Vermont. Purchased from one of our prime local vendors, we knew we just had to have this one. We do not know how old this one actually is. The few opinions we have had so far is 1940's but we honestly do not know as we are still novices in these type of items. Overall this piece measures 53" tall as mounted on the 1 1/2" wood base. The weathervane arrow measures 24" long. The rooster measures 19 1/2" tall x 15" long ... morex 3" thick. The body(including the head and the legs) appears to be two pieces of stamped copper(non ferrous? soldered at the seams. The tail is a flat piece of stamped metal soldered on to the body. The rooster is soldered on to the tubular arrow. The rooster does lift up and off the mount. With the exception of the two balls, one just below the arrow and the other below the directional markers, the remainder of this item is iron. The directional arrows are fastened to a tubular shaft with set screws. These are moderately rusted and weathered. This tubular shaft is threaded on to a round small mounting base plate which is fastened to the wood base. Very good overall condition showing atypical age related patinas, wear, corrosion, etc. We see a small spot on one of the arrow tail feathers detaching from the shaft and may need new solder or epoxy. We see the small two halved copper ball has a tendency to want to separate when not under pressure of the rooster pressing down on it. Another solder or epoxy fix. 1 Vintage weathervane. I am selling this for a friend who is about 90 years old. He made this quite a few years ago. I thought he said the rooster and arrow was made with either copper or brass. The width across for the direction letters is about 19" and the letters are about 3 1/2" tall. The arrow measures about 22 1/2" across and about 4" tall. The Rooster measures about 8 1/4" tall and about 8" wide. The whole unit measures about 27 1/2" tall. It was painted black white and red. There is a paint crack etc one one side of the arrow. Fabulous Primitive Vintage Rooster Chicken Weathervane Original Finish I am still listing new items from Indiana. And have a boatload of new things from the flea market too. Lots of primitive antiques, farm finds, folk art, and the usual wacky Maureen stuff- you don’t want to miss this week! What's not to love about an old weathervane- don'tcha love the look of them? And this one has character to spare! It's an older vintage weathervane- made from spelter. I'm guessing as it's a grey metal that a magnet does not stick to- except for the base, which is brass, and has mounting holes on the sides for mounting. It's a rustic rooster, with a black painted finish that is accented with deep barn red for the details on his head. The center pole has a hand hammered look. It stands 24" tall to the top of the rooster, and ... morethe directionals are 15 1/2" apart end to end n/s, e/w. The base measures 2 1/8" square. The whole piece weighs 4 lbs. It does come apart, the directionals can be removed, as can the rooster as you can see from my photos, the top of the pole sticks out of his back, and you just lift him off. I will dis-assemble him for shipping in order to make the box smaller and hopefully save you some dabloons. It's in excellent solid and sturdy condition, with rustic wear to the finish that can be see- lots of worn black paint esepcially on the rooster, where you can see down to the metal, as well as the highest relief spots on the directionals and poles- that's the charm about him, though- he's primitive, he's old, he's all original, he's yours! Antique rooster weathervane wood with metal. Found in an old barn on property I purchased. The property was a one family estate. The item measures 24"L by 14"H(24"H on included stand) It is exactly as I found it except for the display stand. The paint and metal seem weathered but in fairly good shape. I think its age may date to 1940 but not sure. Very interesting piece great rustic decor. Sold as is.

Beautiful vintage copper weather vane. The weather vane stands almost 51" high without a base. With the wooden base it stands 58" high. It is 25" wide(rooster. Widest part) There is a slight seperation of the feathers from the arrow rod.The remaining of the feathers are on the rod solid. It has some patina on it Overall the weather vane is in nice used condition. The wooden stand is nice to show off your rooster weather vane, Would make a nice decoration to display outdoors. I have not seen one that was on a wooden stand, what a nice way to keep it safe in storage.I will disassemble it for shipment. There are no manufacturer marks on it. Classic v intage copper rooster weather vane with 3 legged roof mount base. Rooster. Arrow and shaft are all copper. Rooster is 19 inches tall and 16 inches wide. Rooster is full bodied and is approx 3 inche thick. Arrow is 25 inches long. Overall height of entire vane is approx 6 ft. Weather vane is fresh out of the elements. Rooster and arrow have years of brown and green patina. Roof mount is 3 legged bendable wire with 2 hole anchor mounts on each leg. Could be roof mounted or mounted in the yard. Would be ideal decorator piece for family room or man cave too. Rooster has slight bending on comb and on feathers of arrows, but no more than would be expected after years in the elements. The arrow measures 40 5/8 inches across. The rooster measures 13 inches high by 12 inches across. Over 1/2 an inch thick. Top red dome measures 8 3/4 inches high by 3 inches round at the widest point. James measures 1 7/8 inches high by 8 3/8 inches long. And the base 11 1/2 inches tall, including the ball and washers. The very bottom of the base measures 5 inches at the widest point. The wood base makes it a nice piece to place in your office, family room, or display anywhere else in you home or work place. VINTAGE FOLK ART ROOF MOUNT WEATHERVANE PAINTED TEAL ROOSTER
We are pleased to offer this unique vintage weathervane. This piece is approximately 20 years old. It was roof mounted and used by the previous owners. The weathervane survived an incredibly destructive tornado which devastated the town of Pierce City. Missouri on May 4, 2003. The owners salvaged the weathervane, painted it, and displayed in their new home. They are moving to assisted living and we purchased from their auction. The weathervane features a large metal rooster standing on the arrow. The rooster is a tin type metal with dimension and it is hollow inside. The rooster has a predominant teal color with some white, gold and red accents. It has a finish coat of polyurethane. This is a beautiful"salvaged" piece with great character. It is in very good condition with the exception of the"W" having been broken during ... morethe tornado(see photo 10) The roof mount and pole are made of iron and have a rusted patina. The rooster and the directional mechanism do lift off and can be displayed without the roof mount. Including the mounting and the pole. The unit measures 58" tall. Vintage Rooster Aluminum Weathervane Copper Base Brass Rod Rooftop Barn 38" Tall
You are bidding on a vintage rooster weathervane. It is approximately 60 years old or slightly older. It was attached on the top of a roof and was taken down and stored when the new owner of the property rebuilt there. It comes apart and if you look at the pictures you can see how it goes together. The base is made of copper with is painted black. The copper is placed over a wood base. The paint has flaked in several places. The base measures approximately 17 inches on each of the 4 sides. The rod that holds the weathervane looks like it is made of brass but I'm not sure. The directional N-S-E-W sits on this rod and there are large screws that tighten it onto the rod. The S mark was repaired at one time as you can see from the picture. The rooster and arrow sit on top of the directional N-S-E-W and will spin freely on the rod. I believe ... morethe rooster. Arrow and directions are all made of aluminum. This piece looks to have been painted a black with red markings. I am leaving it the way it was found and you may choose to repaint it to your liking. I do not see any type of markings on this piece as to who the manufacturer may have been. The whole weathervane assembled measures 38 inches tall. From the bottom of the directional N-S-E-W to the top of the rooster it measures 20 inches tall. The distance across from the front of the arrow to the back measures 24 inches long. Antique Weathervane Rooster Old Paint Vintage Country Primitive Original Paint?
Found at a rural Nebraska estate sale is this great old metal rooster from a weathervane. Still standing on a 15" section of the weathervane. The rooster is about 9" tall and a bit over 7" wide. He still retains remnants of old paint which may quite possibly be original. There is some rust but no holes eaten through. Visible from the bottom is some separation indicating the rooster was formed from two separate sides and joined together. He is very sturdy and has a wonderful country primitive look. Vintage Miniature Weather Vane Salesman Sample Made of cast aluminium It is in two pieces like a full size model. The Rooster comes off the vane. The"E" and"W" are also able to be removed. Which gives the salesman a relatively flat object to carry when not displayed. Complete it is about 6.5" tall and 4.5" wide.
