VINTAGE Americana Brass Weather vane 2' Tall X 18" W Folk Art Aluminum
Vintage folk art Americana brass colored Weather vain 18 inches wide by 2 feet tall. The top of the weather-vane- the arrow. has a beautiful artistic Design which is a Wagonwheel followed by cutouts in the Arrow. See pictures) There is also much detail on the weather vane which includes some small Stamped stars and hammering around the base. RI am not sure exactly where this came from. However it would be a great decorative item for your folk art or Americana decor. This is a vintage item, and has some nice spots of use and has a chic folk Art feel. Vintage Antique Weathervane Horse & Rider, Sulky, Great Patina, Copper Brass
This is a wonderful vintage weathervane of a sulky with rider. Trotting horse. It is all copper and brass with great original patina. This F o lk Art weather vane dates to the 19th century. Copper forms are soldered together and the figures are hollow. This is a very large piece. The measurements are 31"W x 16.5"H. One wheel is missing a spoke and two spokes are loose on one end. I can see no other areas that need repair. This has been in a private collection for over 20 years. I do not know the original area that it came from. We had it appraised 10 years ago And the value was $10.000. Antique Vintage Old Large Copper & Brass Weathervane Running Horse Weathervane
This is a beautiful old weathervane. The horse. Directional arrows, and decorative balls appear to be copper. The 3 demensional items are hollow. The horizontal bar under the horse appears to be some other material possibly brass. The verticle rod(black) seems to be steel or iron. I do not know the age, I aquired it at auction in the 80's and thought to add it to a cupola on the barn. This many years later it's still in the garage. This is a very large item and will come disassembled. I'm not sure that I have it assembled correctly but it seems to work. Overall assembled demensions are appx. 45" tall and 31" wide. The Horse is almost 28" wide nose to tail and appx. 13 1/2" tall. There are two decorative balls. It looks to be made entirely of brass but has oxidation over it. However, the fletching(where the feathers would be) is made of aluminium to catch the wind. I have seen another one of these on ebay before so I know the aluminum part is correct to the vane. There are four old bullet holes in the fletchings part of the arrow. This is shown in the photographs, as is some rust on the steel base mount. The arrow weathervane is in all original condition and came from an old farm building on the Eastern shore of Maryland. MASSIVE 32" Horse Weathervane/ Lightning rod Antique Vintage Copper Brass Horse measures approx. 31" x 17" and the whole piece measures approx. 33" long x 20" tall. It is being sold as found. It will need to be reattached to the pole. I do not know what the head is made from but it looks like brass(just not positive) and I do not know how old it is but it looks very old. This is a set of vintage weathervane/ lightning rod directionals. They are made of solid brass. They were acquired from a duck hunting club in southern Missouri. The duck weathervane( I also have listed now) was mounted on top of the clubhouse and it blew off the roof top in a huge storm in 2010. It never was remounted and has sat in a storage shed ever since. I am not sure of the exact age of this vane but was told by the owner of the club that it was there when he purchased the property in 1960. I will leave the exact age to be determined by the pros. Wind Vane Directional Letters Old Vintage Solid Cast Brass
This auction is for the two directional arms for a wind vane. They are cast in heavy brass. The two arm halves nest together in a slotted fitting. There would be a pipe running up through the center to support a movable arm and finial. I used a piece of hardware to approximate the assembly in the picture. You can use a piece of conduit or re-bar or pipe from Lowes hardware. The two pieces have the original slotted brass screws that act as securing fittings to clamp the arms in place. These are old. Probably Pre-WWII. The arms are about 2 feet across. Letters are about 3 or 4 inches tall. I can take a better measurement if needed. Feel free to ask any questions in advance. Going thru my stuff. Here is a nice Antique Large Size Old Weather vane/ Lightning Rod. It features N S E W. This is a great Vintage House Hardware. The measurements 10" with the lettering measuring Approx. 2 1/2" in height and 1 1/2" wide. The west and east looks to have been repaired. VINTAGE BLACK CAST ALUMINUM AND BRASS SAILING SHIP WEATHER VANE Nice!FARM BARN
Here is a vintage cast aluminum weather vane with a sailing ship pointer on top which spins freely. The Ship and directional markers are made from thick cast aluminum. The center pole appears to be brass. Although it is quite tarnished. There is a metal mounting plate at the bottom. And under that a circular wooden base that is very weathered. Measures 28" tall and 16" wide at the widest point, Very solid and well made. The wooden base will need replacing or repairing if you plan to use it. Otherwise the metal roof mounting plate is in fine shape and will secure it to a roof for many. Many years. A really nice vintage weather vane! Thanks for checking it out. Vintage Rooster Aluminum Weathervane Copper Base Brass Rod Rooftop Barn 38" Tall
You are bidding on a vintage rooster weathervane. It is approximately 60 years old or slightly older. It was attached on the top of a roof and was taken down and stored when the new owner of the property rebuilt there. It comes apart and if you look at the pictures you can see how it goes together. The base is made of copper with is painted black. The copper is placed over a wood base. The paint has flaked in several places. The base measures approximately 17 inches on each of the 4 sides. The rod that holds the weathervane looks like it is made of brass but I'm not sure. The directional N-S-E-W sits on this rod and there are large screws that tighten it onto the rod. The S mark was repaired at one time as you can see from the picture. The rooster and arrow sit on top of the directional N-S-E-W and will spin freely on the rod. I believe ... morethe rooster. Arrow and directions are all made of aluminum. This piece looks to have been painted a black with red markings. I am leaving it the way it was found and you may choose to repaint it to your liking. I do not see any type of markings on this piece as to who the manufacturer may have been. The whole weathervane assembled measures 38 inches tall. From the bottom of the directional N-S-E-W to the top of the rooster it measures 20 inches tall. The distance across from the front of the arrow to the back measures 24 inches long. VINTAGE COPPER & BRASS HORSE WEATHERVANE FROM OLD BARN
Here is an old weathervane we found in an old horse born back in a grown over field. The horse is copper and the N E S W letters are solid brass. The ball is copper. And the mounting pole is metal. It was covered with years of dust when we found it, and pictures 1 and 2 show it before it was dusted off. Note the cobwebs and thick layer of dust on the horse and the N E S W. We dusted it off, but didn't fully clean it, as we wanted to let the new owner clean it to his or her preferenes. Pictures 4, 5, 6, 9 show the weathervane after it was dusted. It is a beautiful large weathervane that stands 44 inches tall from top of horse to bottom of metal pole. The horse is approximately 30 inches long. This looks like an old timer and it has been resoldered in a few places and there are a couple of splits in the brass here and there. Picture 7 shows ... morea split in the lower tube near the horses right foot, however it doesn't affect the way the weathervane operates. When a strong breeze is in the air, the horse will swivel on its pole as all weathervanes do. New owner may want to have it repaired, but that's a matter of choice. As mentioned previously, it needs a good cleaning, but the patina that's on it now makes it have that really vintage look. Vintage copper with patina & brass Whale Weather vane
This is a great piece I purchased at an estate auction that was from a 90 yr old doctor. It is like the whale in" Moby Dick" This is considered a"small" weather vane. Which is 12" long. The whale is hammered copper and has just enough patina. This can best be used on a deck or patio or even on top of a small potting. Mowing shed. Or even inside on a desk or coffee table. You can appreciate it more than the larger ones that are placed quite high on top of a barn or a steep house. It does have a fancy style bass which can be taken off. It is a lot prettier than a block of wood. The base is 5" in diameter. The directional. NSEW sets 9" apart. It has the brass ring and set screw which are all brass. The whale has a small swollen body style. The globe or pivot balls are sized 2 1/2" and 1 1/2" diameter ... morethose are all copper with a nice look of patina. The whale is in great shape but has had a slight vein crack that has been repaired with lead. Everything can be taken apart. Together it stands 13" tall.
