1880's 1890's Victorian Barn Lightning Rod Weathervane Tip Point Farm Hardware
Here we have for sale a very old original lightning rod bayonet tip. The tip has the small 7/16" thread. The tip is a 10" brass bayonet. It has a nice looking bell style base. This style is attributed to Reyburn Hunter Co. and Smith- Hewitt as well as others. Has old black patina and maybe gold finish? Tip is in good shape. Not resharpened and she's not bent up. This is a great lightning rod tip and this 1880's- 1890's stuff aint easy to get anymore that isn't deteriorated away.

This is a gorgeous and fully restored antique Kretzer twisted iron rod in a black wrought iron stand. The rod was blasted clean and all copper and brass hardware polished and lacquered including the magnificent brass bayonet point/ top that had the KRETZER name deeply imprinted. Super RARE MELTZER Lightning Rod & Copper 5 Wire Tip Farm Hardware 1 MORE CHANCE
Here we have for sale a SUPER RARE lightning rod. Brace and point. I've decided to sell one more of these RARE pieces. If you're a serious lightning rod collector, you better get in on one of these. First of all, lets point out one fact, this is 100% old original. I picked up 4 of these in Indiana back in November. I've already sold 2. I've known about these for several years and finally after much negotiation. I was able to purchase these. These came fairly close to where the company was originaly at, Rays Crossing, Indiana. If you doubt these type of tips are real, I have pictures of these up on a house and a barn. Not much is known about this small business. These are the first I've ever seen up close as in being able to handle one. The stand is unique and the tips are unique as well. Ok, here's some details. The ... morestand is 35" tall, made of three 3/4" wide strips of steel riveted together. The rod holders are strips of brass or copper sandwiched between the strips of steel. The legs are twisted by hand, as each leg is different. Some spiral left and some right. The rod is a 5/8" copper welded seam tube. Nothing special about that. Now the tip is most unusual! It is a slip on type that is pressed flat towards the top. There looks to be a piece that has 5- 6" copper wires inserted into it then soldered. This piece is then inserted into said flattened tip and soldered. Very unsual and time consuming to make a tip like this in it's day. As you can see the tip of one tine is blunt. Not sure if it was made that way or broke? I can't find any name or markings on any of the items. However these are unique pieces and can only be attributed to one company, Meltzer. As for damage, I believe the bottom of the tube is missing a portion, it is pinched and maybe the foot clamp part is whats missing. From what I've seen on the roof, looks to be a flat foot clamp of some sort. The patina is not the brightest but it has patina. Remember these were stored for 17 years that I

All Original signed Miller Quality on the brass bayonet tip. I have listed this item as Buy it Now or Best Offer. A magnet does not stick to the bayonet tip or the ring that goes around the glass ball. I am not sure if it is silver. Brass or copper. The bayonet tip measures from top to bottom 10" and the tip of the three sided bayonet has a very sharp tip on the end and has a green color to it. The steel arrow measures 15" from the tip of the arrow to the end, the end of the arrow is missing. The steel arrow is approximately 1/4" thick steel. The glass ball measures approximately 6" tall and is approximately 4 1/4" across. The ball has a non metal ring that goes with it. The lighting rod was taken off of an old 1800's barn years ago that was being demolished and was stored away in my collection. I am selling all ... morethe pieces together and not breaking them up. You get what you see in the pictures, the bayonet piece, the ball ring, the smoky glass ball, and the steel arrow. I have taken twelve pictures so you can see all the features of this unique lighting rod. There are no cracks in the glass ball. Where the ball would sit on the lighting rod rings it does have rough edges, but the glass on the ball itself is not cracked or chipped, it does need cleaned, I will leave that up to the professional. I have not attempted to clean any of the pieces, they are all original. My items are priced to sell and priced to please and I always accept reasonable offers. ACME Lightning Rod Co. #010 of a limited production inspired by Civil War tip
You are bidding on ACME Lightning Rod Co. Terminal production#010. This is about 10" long. 6" wide at the arms and ranges from 3/8" thick at the tip to about 5/8" at the base. It is drilled and tapped 3/8NC for attachment to solid copper conductor. This lightning rod is featured in new single terminal, single conductor, single electrode lightning protection that is reminiscent of the 1860 era systems utilizing the bayonet type terminals. This terminal is cast in Oshaloy. A lead free silicon Bronze metal. It is much thicker than the pressed original tips as it must be able to be struck by lightning without being compromised. These are very expensive to produce in this low quantity as only 3 prototypes and 10 production terminals exist at this time. The terminal pictured in the photo with the conductor is my brushed finish ... moreproduction#001. This is NOT meant to be passed off as an original 1860 Civil War Tip.
