Ruby Glass Decanter & Glasses Applied Gold & Enamel
This is an absolutely gorgeous decanter with five glasses. The exact age of this set is unknown. This is an estate item and is being sold as shown. This is a very deep red color and it is a cross between ruby and cranberry. My daughter calls it fire engine red. The set includes a decanter that measures 10 5/8" to the mouth and 14" to the top of the stopper. It has a lovely design that is done in sections from the top down as follows: The stopper has a section of applied gold paint over clear glass. This section of gold is approximately 1.5" long followed by a clear section that is 3 1/8" to the end of the stopper. The entire decanter is red with a gold and white enamel hand painted design and a section that has an etched design with roman style scenes. Both the applied gold and white appear to be hand applied due to inconsistencies ... morein the design. The prominent brush marks left behind, drips and the overall texture of these areas. This is an extremely thin glass that leads me to believe that this is an older piece as opposed to a reproduction. The base of the decanter has a pontil mark and there are no seams on this anywhere. The base is dull and looks like it has been used. There are five glasses that match the design on the decanter. Each glass measures 4" high. They are approximately 3" across at the widest point on the base and it tapers up to 2.25" at the top of the glass. The glasses do not show any signs of use to the bottom of them like the decanter. This is a previously owned item and is being sold as is. Please feel free to ask questions and request more photos if needed before purchasing. Antique? Three Ring Decanter with Stopper Polished Pontil Applied Finish
I'm not sure when this item was made. It is super heavy and super thick when compared to other glass decanters. It has 3 rings around the neck plus the finish. So 4 circular features on the neck and finish total. It has some kind of weird crystalline haze inside of the decanter, kind of like crackle glass, but not on the surface. I'm not sure if this was from the creation of this item, or if this is age. It has substantial base wear and also wear on the finish where the stopper goes in and out. I have noticed some hairline scratching on the body. It has a couple of flea bites(little nicks) and scratches on the rings, not very noticeable. There are also some flea bites on the base. The stopper is hollow with an opening where, I assume, the pontil was removed. The base has a polished pontil. There are some bubbles sparsely scatter throughout, ... moreseed and round bubbles. When thumped with a finger, the decanter does have a ring to it, so I assume it has some metal in it, like crystal, but I am not sure. It is a subtle ring. It is very thick and heavy glass. 19TH C. ENGLISH BLOWN & FACET CUT CRYSTAL DECANTER APPLIED RINGS POLISHED PONTIL
This is a wonderful 19th Century English Blown& Facet Cut Crystal Decanter. The beautifully blown decanter is facet cut at the neck. Shoulder and base with three applied rings on the neck. It stands approximately 8-1/2" tall to the top of the gem-cut stopper. The bottom of the decanter shows a polished pontil. The decanter shows only light. Age appropriate wear with NO chips, NO cracks, NO repairs and NO grinding. The interior bottom shows faint cloudiness at the very bottom, seen when angled towards a bright light source, as shown in the photos. The stopper shows only very tiny edge frits which are not easily seen, barely felt and nearly impossible for the camera to capture. The cut-work is beautiful and crisp. This beautiful early blown glass decanter is cobalt blue in color and has a nice form with ribbed body and is decorated with two applied rings around the neck. It has a pontil scar on the bottom and shows honest wear along the foot rim. It dates from the late 19th Century and measures approximately 13 inches tall overall by 5 + 1/8 inches across at its widest. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Here is an ANTIQUE LIQUOR DECANTER with the ORIGINAL GLASS STOPPER that has an APPLIED HANDLE and is a LIGHT GREEN COLOR. It has a SCENE that shows someone drinking out of some kind of container with TREES and LANDSCAPE in the background. It also has quite a few TINY BUBBLES in the GLASS. It is 6 3/4" TALL not counting the stopper and 4 3/4" in DIAMETER at the BASE and has an OPEN PONTILED BASE that you see on bottles and decanters from the earlier 1800's to the late 1800's. It weighs just over 1 POUND. It also has an OPTICAL EFFECT in that it looks like it has PANELS but the OUTSIDE is SMOOTH. 12" Hand Made w Applied Glass Decanter/Cut Stopper-Actress LOUISE CURRIE Estate Up for auction is a vintage glass decanter from the estate of film actress LOUISE CURRIE(1913-2013) I'll go into more detail about Ms. Currie after describing the item but among her credits is she was the last surviving actor from the cast of CITIZEN KANE until her death in 2013 at the age of 100. The decanter is 9.25" tall to the top of the lip and 12" to the top of the stopper. This is a hand crafted piece with the pontil scar visible on the bottom. The neck is wrapped in applied thick glass circles. The shopper is a hollow ball with cut top and 6 thumb prints panels on bottom sides. The stopper is etch marked"66" or"99" The bottom of the stopper has chips but otherwise it's in nice condition. The decanter has no chips. ... moreCracks or breaks. There's some cloudiness to the glass but needs to be cleaned with vinegar. I'm uncertain of its age but believe it to be several years old. The second from last photo is the entire lot of items I purchased from the Louise Currie estate. It was a boxed lot and this shows the entire contents of the lot. The last photo is the auction tag. A wonderful clear footed decanter in an engraved floral pattern. The decanter has an engraved floral pattern with an applied handle and foot. The wine decanter is about 11 3/4 inches high and about 4 1/4- 4 3/8 inches in diameter. The decanter is made in three parts(bowl. Handle and foot) Made about 1770(18th Century) during the Colonial period. Made by La Granja de San Ildefonso glass company in Madrid, Spain. It has a rough pontil with an iron mark in pontil. It is in excellent condition free of chips, nicks or cracks. The glass is clear and is not sick, cloudy, discolored or have chemical deposits. Typical of glass from this period, it has straw marks, annealing lines and pot stones. There are trace amounts of gilt in the engraving. Foot has a slight warp causing it to rock a little.
