Antique Primitive Pine Lift Top Trunk Painted Green Tool Chest Country Folk
Antique green lift top chest. Classic primitive or country style. It looks like it was made from pine and has a basic six-panel construction. The top is made from three framed boards with a raised piece on top. Iron side handles and a molded base. Paint looks original or at least very old. Interior has sections for holding things in the front and stepped sides to hold boxes up. There are also strips of gathered leather attached to the top that may have been for tools and a cut-out"L" shape that may have held a carpenter's square. So it seems likely that this trunk was probably a tool chest at some point. Trunk probably dates from the late 19th or early 20th century. Overall. This piece is in good condition, however there is obvious wear as you can see from the pictures. There also appears to be some water damage to the finish ... moreand some water stains inside the trunk lid. The H hinges and side handles both show sign of rust, but are in solid condition and sturdy. The chest stands is 18" tall and measures 34.5" long and 22" wide. You won't find any veneer here this beauty is solid wood. A quality made piece well constructed to serve the maker for many years with three brass hinges to hold the lid. This box has all the pluses, check out the stunning heavy brass trims that decorate every edge for strength and beauty. This chest is about as original as you will ever find complete with drawer, trays that lift out for your drill bits and other small hand tools and room for the hand saw inside the lid. The hefty solid brass handles are built into the chest to lay flush until you pull them out to lift the chest. Both locks are present we do not have any keys. 19th C OLD BLUE GREEN PAINT ORIGINAL BLANKET TOOL CHEST FOLK ART HEX PINWHEELS
offered from my own personal collection is this exceptional diminutive sized or miniature 19th century primitive blanket chest. the original paint on this is the early slate or soldier blue that over a hundred or two years oxidizes to hues of sage green on its outside giving it outstanding paint depth. this early paint is very rare to find on a primitive and ive allways had an affection for such pieces and its impossible to duplicate in any way. so in other words. This chest is a deep blue paint however to the natural aging it appears to have blueish sage green tints in some light. the inside camera flash makes it more greenish than it is, while the outside pictures show more its real color. the other unique highlight of this chest is that it is original scribe decorated with folk art hex sign pinwheels. theres two large ones on the top lid ... moreand underneath the lid is profusely decorated with them which ive tried to capture on the pictures and theres even one on one of the drawer tills. I believe this chest uniquely functioned as a high end tool or machinest chest because it does have two different level sliding tills and what looks to be a graduated drill bit holder on the back inside. total measurements are 25 1/4'w x 13 3/8'h x 12 3/4'd with early original square nail construction, there are two small screws on the back which obviously were added at a later date to tighten an area up. to sum it up, this chest is a real looker and has extraordinary primitive appeal.

Nice antique treasure box or tool box with 3 drawers. A lift top lid with breadboard ends. Measuring approx. 21-3/4" wide x 11-1/2" x 10-1/4" high. There are 2 small drawers over 1 larger drawer with a lid that opens for storage inside the top of the box. The original antique iron handles(one on each side) appear to be hand forged with pig tail ends. There is an old iron hasp on the box for your padlock. Beautiful Antique c1890's Wooden Sea Chest/ Chart& Map Chest/ Tool Chest Large 39" L x 21" W x 15" H Made from solid either southern yellow pine or fir.the chest has been in my family for years.purchased off of a large boat here in Florida. Handmade chest dates back to the boom days of this important Florida seaport. The bottom is made from 3 1/4" wide beadboard from the construction of the Victorian houses in town. The top is a solid 19 1/2" wide plank(that split at one time and was repaired) and the sides are from solid 13 1/2" boards. Antique Shipwright or Carpenters Tool Chest Original Green Paint. c.1800's
A very nice old carpenters or shipwrights tool chest that is elaborately decorated with copper trim on the corners. This is made from pine. There are paper items tacked to the inside top an one is a black and white photo of a ship which is why I speculate that it may have been a ship makers chest. Notice the little metal heart next to the photo. One of the paper items came off but I will include it for you to re-attach. It has just been re-attached using one of the tacks. The chest retains its original green paint. The looks like there was a blue grey coat of paint on top but was removed and the original coat of green paint left in tact. There is wear to the finish and traces of the blue grey paint but still a stunning look of the original dark green paint. This is clearly made by the craftsman and it looks like he used what materials were ... moreavailable. The antique iron handles have the same style but are slightly different sizes. The copper trim looks like hand cut flashing then is attached to the chest with small brass screws. There are two screws on each side that have been replaced but it is not very noticeable. The inside top has the saw handles with copper bow ties latches to keep the saws in place. The bottom has two right angle metal straps on each side to hold a level. The hasp on the front looks like it may have been added later. The top of the chest has the impressed name of the maker which looks like"G. R. Horton" I am unsure of the first initial but the other initial and the last name are easy to read. The chest measures 34 inches long and is 11 inches deep and another 11 inches high. The ship shows signs of age with nicks and dings. Also the panel on top has a crack from shrinkage over the years. It is still tight to the wood and since the panel is screwed to the top board of the chest. The crack does not go through to the bottom. This will be packed and shipped via UPS.

Primitive Antique Folk Art Painted Trunk Chest Old estate find. This is a nice early trunk that has been decorated on all sides with folk art paintings. I do not know the age of the painting but it is charming and colorful. On the top of the trunk there is writing in script that says"He who gives a child a treat- makes joy bells ring in heaven's street" The oval with the writing is bordered with flowers and figures. There is a house on the front with a woman and man, a rocking horse on the ends and two angels on the back. Nice painted border around the top and bottom edge. It has an old steel lock but no key and a padlock type latch was added at a later date. It has iron handles at the ends. There are no marks identifying the maker. It measures approximately 35” wide. 20” deep and stands 19-1/4” high. It originally had three 1-1/2” wide strips applied to the bottom as feet to keep the bottom board from rotting but one of the strips is missing. Other than that its is complete. Beautiful Antique Vanderman Strong Box This is an 1897 Vanderman Strong Box which has been professionally restored and is in absolutely beautiful condition. It was made by the Vanderman Mfg. Co. of Willimantic. Conn. and patented July 13, 1897. Vanderman manufactured these boxes in several different sizes, many of which were used as tool chests and by the construction trade. It is made of 1/16" steel which was formed into a rectangular shape and on the top, sides, and bottom are solid oak wood staves/slats riveted to the steel. The corners have custom fit steel reinforcing at every outside edge point. There is a Vanderman brass plaque at the lower center of the front panel. The chest measures 34"in. wide by 20"in. tall and 20"in. deep(front to back) with the original skeleton key lock being replaced and wire chains for the lid being added at some more recent point in time. The inner tool trays are in a blond(natural) finish and custom fit the chest. With one tray having a lid. This woodworker's chest was bought from an old man by a family member in 1934. Making it from the middle to late 1800s in age. It has a secret compartment for saw storage and additional places that slide back and forth for other tools. I can't read the stenciled name on the front. I do not know what the brass emblem in the front top of the lid means. It is very heavy and in very good shape. Look at pictures. ANTIQUE PERSONAL TOOL BOX TRUNK WOOD CHEST PRIMITIVE CHILDS AAFA
I can't express how cute this box is over the internet! It has so much detail and style. Just like those large carpenters chests that are 3' long! Measuring approximately 15" Long, 8.5" Tall& 9.5" Deep, it is a mere shadow to it's working relatives! I am unsure whether a loving parent acquired this for their child. A carpenter used it as his traveling caddy or if it truly was a salesman sample trunk. I have never seen one of this age and quality before. It is painted a beautiful vintage yellow and greenish color. The latch is a simple piece of leather which simply hooks onto a metal latch. Inside. You can see a strap of leather, this hooks to a nail and works as the holding mechanism for the lid, although it does not always stay in place, occasionally I have to hook it back on there. There is a nice little tray ... moreto hold the small tools or notions and a deep box for the other tools. The inside lid has a nice piece of leather to hold the little tools and gadgets. There were some leftover sewing notions in this box when I received it but I think it would be a fabulous display for old childrens tools or a fantastic jewelry box or display on your dresser. You definitely do not find this craftsmanship anymore! The hinges are fastened with nails. Which is the only flaw in the piece. They look to be original but there is just a little play on one of the hinges. It is by no means falling off, most likely caused by the heavy lid and not having the leather strap attached. I have not attempted to hammer these back in place, and again, the lid works fine just want to mention a tiny amount of play. Other than all of that. Vintage 1890's Vanderman Stagecoach Chest/Tool Chest
Here is a really nice old piece that came from a local estate. It is an old Vanderman stagecoach chest/tool chest. It measures app 38" x 19" x 19" It weighs app 100 pounds. It is made of wood and steel. This one is in very good shape as when you open it it is not full of rust. There are four metal name plates on it. First there is one from the Vanderman Co. in the front at the base. The second is from the Harold Dessau Tool Co. in NY NY that sold it. Then there is a copper plate on the top from the York Electric Co. in Atlanta. Ga. Finally, there is another copper name plate on it from the individual at York that owned it. You may notice York spray painted on the top. This is really an awesome piece and not one you will run across often. It is larger than most of the Vanderman chests that come on the market. Antique Wood Chest One of a Kind Ornate with Brass Vintage Tool Trunk Military
For sale is a very unique. Turn of the century, one of a kind wooden chest. This piece has amazing patina and is very ornate. It has brass corners and screws evenly spaced all around. The front of this chest has very faint red lettering that reads E.C. The dimensions are 28-1/4" long by 15" wide and 14-1/2" tall. It is a very heavy duty constructed piece, you won't find another one! Buyer must pick up or make shipping arrangements. I can also deliver within a reasonable distance. Thanks for looking. VINTAGE SHIPWRIGHTS TOOL CHEST EARLY 1800'S "CLEAVLAND OHIO" SPELLING ON BACK
This is a very unique older piece. I have been told that it is a Shipwrights Tool Chest from the early 1800's. It possibly could be older. The chest measures approximately 45" long x 25' wide x 25' high. The top board is a solid piece of lumber measuring 45" long by 25" wide. The bottom I believe is the same measurements. I have been told this would be virgin lumber at the dimension of 25" wide. It is in original condition and has not been refinished that I can see. The original lock was replaced at some time as it now has a clasp as shown-in the photos. On the back of the chest is writing and some of it is legible but parts of it are hard to read. I can discern some of the words but not all of them. The writing is also written upside down to the chest when it is right side up. I have rotated one picture so ... moreit will be easier to read. Written on the back is as follows: Alanson S or D_ unknown letters. CLEAVLAND" in the old spelling. Cave of Tulfs or Tul_ an X type sign then"P_ ks" Ohio" There is a piece of wood shown in the main photo with a checker board drawn on it. This board fits into a holder on the backside of the chest front. You can see the top of it in one of the photos. This chest does have some wear signs associated with it. The bottom has some soft wood on the right side as you are looking at the bottom photo. The bottom trim boards are a little rough in places. The rest of the chest is in fairly good condition. Please look at the pictures as they show part of the overall condition as well as the construction of this piece. Notice how the corners are mortised together. The heavy metal handles that would have been used to lower this into a ship for construction. The screws used are flat on the end. Not pointed all the way to the end, this also helps to define the age of the piece. There may be a couple replacement screw but i'm not sure. Antique Inlaid marquetry carpenter's tool chest--super---15054
I have sold several carpenters tool chest or trunks over the years. I like them because not only are they a functional piece of furniture but they give an idea of the person's carpentry abilities. This tool cabinet is exceptionally fine with marquetry inlay on the interior. Late 19th century the chest has copper edge binding protection on the outside and also heavy handles on either side. All of the several drawers on the interior slide front to back in addition to the storage on the base. Note the pulls on each drawer. This would certainly be a fine addition to use as storage or would make an interesting coffee table. Interior has fitted drawers with birdseye maple trim and inlays. Also.
