Starrett tool chest made by the Gerstner company in Ohio. Wood is mahogany. I estimate that this box is from the 1960s. The box does have the signs of being a working tool chest from a machine shop. This is shop grim on the outside as well as on the felt. Once restored it will look amazing. The box is very solid. Some cracks in a couple of the back drawer joints(easy repair) Light rust on the hardware. Vintage RARE Mahogany Starrett 9 Drawer Machinist Wood Tool Chest
You're bidding on this Vintage mahogany 9 drawer machinist wood tool box/chest. All 9 drawers have original hardware. The hinges and handle are all there. The exterior top does have some black stain(see pictures) The interior top and drawers are original red felt but they need cleaning(see pictures) The front drop panel is recessed. When it drops there is a bottom drawer that has a metal tag that says Starrett on it. I have no idea if this is original to the chest or if someone added it at some point. It has 2 locks on the side in addition to the 3 locks on the front. I have a key for the front lock that says Eagle Lock Co. Terryville, Conn. An absolutely wonderful chest. It measures approximately 20 in wide and 12-1/2 in high and 9-1/2 in deep. Approximate age is around 1920’s so it’s about 95 years old.
