Im not sure if its all hand hammer or if its copper brass or bronze nor its exact age ... moreyou collectors will be the judge. I can tell you its very very old i could not find another one like it any ware on the computer. It looks like the person who owned it has a old drill bit and screw it on to a old antique block of solid wood. It does screw off its not welded on the drill bit. When you look at the bottom ware screw threads are it begins with a white metal but then it turns into a brass color metal so thats why i my self think its solid brass or bronze but again you collectors will be the judge. Please see the very close up picture of the threads and you will see exactly what i mean about the threads turning into a brass color after the first 4 or 5 threads. If any one can tell me any information about it please do. From the point of his beck to the tail its around 16 1/2 inches long. then from top of tail to bottom of tail its almost 10 inches long. then from his belly to top of his head around 12 inches tall then from one side of his body to other side its around 3 1/4 inches fat. Then when sitting on the block from the bottom block of wood to the top of the head its around 26 1/2 inches tall. The wood base it self is 2 1/2 inches thick and left to right around 6 1/2 and front to back around 6 inches long. Still in very good solid condtion i do not see anything broken at all. Again if any one can please tell me who made this and its exact age and what its made of i thank you very much for your help. This was found from the same estate sale as my old antique Gothic chandeliers plus a very old hunting duck hat with old pins on it that i have listed on ebay please have a look at them if you like. GREAT ANTIQUE COPPER ROOSTER WEATHERVANE 19TH CENT CANADIAN OR EUROPEAN
Antique Copper Folk Art Rooster Weathervane I really like this folky rooster vane. It may very well be Canadian. Having both a crown, an orb and a cross, probably east coast. It is artfully cut from sheet copper and is at least 19th century, though the rooster is similar to 18th century ones. I believe it was once brightly painted with red and white, but only small vestiges remain. Height 34 1/8( 86.7 cm) WEIGHT 2 pounds 14 ounces I sell most of my items on eBay with a reasonable reserve. Often at my cost, and always less than what I would expect the item to sell for. Very careful packaging is part of my shipping cost to anywhere in the continental USA or elsewhere. Weathervane Windmill with Rooster on Top from Montana Ranch-Antique
This old unit needs some TLC on the windmill. However, the rooster and wind tail are in nice vintage galvanized shape. Someone that wants to restore the windmill could do it with some tin snips, a drill and a little time to make up the blades and braces that are missing. The hub bearings appear to be o.k. as it spins. It was mounted on and is an old galvanized pipe. We will ship by taking the windmill off the weathervane and laying all flat in strong cardboard. This unit is off a ranch in West Montana. A lot of history in this one. It weighs 20 lbs. of metal. The total length is about 3' the wind tail is 18" x 18" and the windmill is about 32" in diameter when complete.

i Up for Auction: Revisions were made to the pics today. Monday June 3rd. An Antique Full Bodied Rooster Weathervane. The Rooster appears to be Bronze. The Rooster has a Nice Patina about it as you can see in the pics. The cast aluminum. Which I'm calling it, is in remarkable condition. There are places where the aluminum shows through as shown in the pics due to years of service and weather situations like large hail stones and other debris which may have come in contact with it. The height of the entire weathervane from the roof to the top of the Rooster is 40" The Rooster is 10" tall and 8 1/2" wide. The Arrow is 33" acrossed. The direction indicators are 19" acrossed. The letters are 3 7/8" tall. The arrow and the stem has a"hammered" look to it. The Rooster has a seam in it from the breast ... moreup over the head and than opens up at the tail which was intentional. This is what is called a full bodied Rooster. This very nice rooster weathervane came from the estate of my Grandparents. This has been on their barn for as long as I can remember and I'm just shy of 60 years old. My understanding is they bought the house in and around 1947. There is no way that I can't verify whether the weathervane was on the barn when they bought it or not. I see no markings on the weathervane that might give away the date of it. Also. There is no way that I could know whether or not this has ever been repainted. Here we have a estate find very old antique Weathervane rooster. Im not sure if its all hand hammer or if its copper brass or bronze nor its exact age you collectors will be the judge. I can tell you its very very old i could not find another one like it any ware on the computer. It looks like the person who owned it has a old drill bit and screw it on to a old antique block of solid wood. It does screw off its not welded on the drill bit. When you look at the bottom ware screw threads are it begins with a white metal but then it turns into a brass color metal so thats why i my self think its solid brass or bronze but again you collectors will be the judge. Please see the very close up picture of the threads and you will see exactly what i mean about the threads turning into a brass color after the first 4 or 5 threads. If any one can tell ... moreme any information about it please do. From the point of his beck to the tail its around 16 1/2 inches long. then from top of tail to bottom of tail its almost 10 inches long. then from his belly to top of his head around 12 inches tall then from one side of his body to other side its around 3 1/4 inches fat. Then when sitting on the block from the bottom block of wood to the top of the head its around 26 1/2 inches tall. The wood base it self is 2 1/2 inches thick and left to right around 6 1/2 and front to back around 6 inches long. Still in very good solid condtion i do not see anything broken at all. Again if any one can please tell me who made this and its exact age and what its made of i thank you very much for your help. This was found from the same estate sale as my old antique Gothic chandeliers plus a very old hunting duck hat with old pins on it that i have listed on ebay please have a look at them if you like. Although I'm not sure how old it is. I'm guessing early part of the 20th century. The paint on the rooster itself is real chalky and appears to be chalk paint. It will come off on your hands. The rooster is a heavy cast aluminum and is thick-bodied. Not slender like most. The rest of it is a cast iron base and a metal tube. It has a long bolt through it. The rooster looks like it used to thread on there but it is now loose and will come off. This would be a great decorative piece as it just has that"look" to it. It measures about 18 1/2 inches tall overall and the rooster is about 8 1/2" long. The weathervane was mounted on the roof of a neighbor's house in the early 1940's. I suspect it is much older than this. But I can only declare for certain that it is this old, because I remember it as a child. My parent's purchased the house at a later time and when they passed away the weathervane came into my possession. It measures approx. 35 1/2" tall and it is 27" wide measuring across the arrow. There is a round piece of metal beneath this. That they must have inserted into a small hole and then the weathervane had screws, that fastened the weathervane to the roof of the house. There is paint wear from being outside so many ... moreyears. There is some rust on the bottom round disk. But it has not harmed the metal and the wethervane just needs to be cleaned and painted or you can enjoy displaying it in his natural, weathered state. Antique Americana Large Folksy Rooster Weathervane ~ Painted Iron& All Original Up for auction is a wonderful antique rooster weathervane. An all original and one-of-a-kind weathervane that likely dates to the 1920s. Based on his folksy deco design. He was hand made, cut from heavy duty iron, and made to fit onto a rod, so he turns freely depending on the wind. This fellow has a great natural patina from being outside so long. The paint, which is a dark barn red, is the original paint, and it has worn away naturally in places due to the oxidation of the iron underneath. The previous owner had this rooster mounted onto a modern heavy iron display stand, which I think suits him well. On his stand he measures 25 1/2" tall and 24" wide, and without the stand, he measures 24" by 17. The stand itself is 24" long by 6" ... morewide, not counting the rod. Antique Weathervane Rooster Old Paint Vintage Country Primitive Original Paint?
Found at a rural Nebraska estate sale is this great old metal rooster from a weathervane. Still standing on a 15" section of the weathervane. The rooster is about 9" tall and a bit over 7" wide. He still retains remnants of old paint which may quite possibly be original. There is some rust but no holes eaten through. Visible from the bottom is some separation indicating the rooster was formed from two separate sides and joined together. He is very sturdy and has a wonderful country primitive look. 19th c. Antique Folk Art Rooster Weathervane Americana AAFA Sheet Iron Primitive
What a great find we have at auction today. Superb folk art rooster form weathervane. He was cut out from sheet iron. He stands 24" high and is 25 1/2" wide. He body is supported with body straps on both sides which are riveted onto his form. He swivels on vertical rod which is attached to his base. He has a small pointing arrow which is riveted to him from the backside. To add to his charm is the hand forged base which is cut from heavier steel and is also riveted together. He patina is an old wrought iron black paint/finish. He probably has been scraped and repainted at some point. He spent many years in the weather but somebody took good care of him! Large Antique/Vintage Rooster Weathervane~ WISCONSIN FARM FRESH!
Super Neat Antique/Vintage Rooster Weathervane! Large~ Great Color~ Large letters~ Made of Cast Aluminum. I believe. 33 inches in total height. The rooster is 10.5 H x 9" wide. The arrow is 23.5 inches long. The directional is about 15.5 inches across. Each letter is about 3.5 inches high. The arrow part with rooster screws in loose, I guess to spin with wind direction. Bottom part is shown in photo. Not sure how this mounts, I do believe this is for a roof. Can be used in Garden or Yard. Beautiful old Rooster straight off an old Wisconsin Farm! Old Rooster Weathervane ANTIQUE HOLLOW BODY COPPER FOLK ART
Up for consideration is this nice. Original, Hollow Body Copper Rooster weathervane. It's all there including the wood base. At 33" overall with 12" directionals and a rooster that stands 10" and 8" wide It is a diminutive size. It came from an historic Eastern Shore of Maryland smoke house, thus the smaller size. Seam separations on the body and tail. Directionals are in nice shape. Note the hollow two piece tail. You can use the original nail holes to mount to a stand or put it on the wall. RARE Antique Rooster Weathervane 26 3/8" Tall, Arrow 19 7/8 wide Early 1900's
This is an antique rooster and arrow weathervane. I believe it is painted iron but could be another type of metal. This came off an old barn in the Willamette Valley near Eugene. OR. It is an early 1900's era weather vane. The color is closer to the whiter color in the pictures, the lighting really made it look yellowish but it is white patina. The whole unit is solid and doesn't rotate or move except as a complete unit. This is a very rare and unique piece that is an awesome addition to anyone's collection. Antique 19thc Small 16" Copper Rooster Weathervane One Side Painted (see Pics)
Nice old weather-vane from kitchen rafters in New Hampshire home. One side has old orange paint while the other is naturally aged copper. Verdigris has grown thick in parts. It measures 12 1/2" from feet to top of head feathers. 16" from base attachment to top of head feathers. 13" across from arrow tip to end. Tail feathers are 7 3/4" in height. Both sides are textured with design. Copper side seem more flat than painted side. There are 2 old screws(were not mounted in home by them) still embedded and 1 hole in the eye. Great patina! I pack safely. Insured, ship only within the USA and in 1 business day.
