Antique Cast Iron Ornate Weathervane Lightning Rod ARROW ~Looks to be Kretzer
ANTIQUE ORNATE IRON ARROW Measures 22.75" long. There are no breaks. Cracks, or repairs to this fancy old arrow. An eBay search shows me it looks just like a Kretzer but I don't see the name where it usually is. See my last photo. Don't know if they were ever unmarked or if it could wear down that much? We are not weathervane people. There is no glass. See photo 8.Should there be something there to hold the glass? We suspect so.Probably an easy fix for those accustomed to working with weathervanes.

Antique or Vintage. Kind of hard to date these, Lightning Rod/Weathervane. As you can see it has had it's years of use, the arrow does not rotate freely and will need a little work if you are intending to use this item, if not its a great piece of American art form from the past. Also as shown in the pictures the pointed top does come off, and will be off for shipping. They say a picture is worth a thousand words so unless you have questions I'll just give dimensions. Antique Pig Weathervane Lightning Rod Arrow Primitive Folk Art W/ Bullet Holes
This auction is for a old Pig Weathervane/Lightning Rod Directional Arrow that came from a Missouri estate. It measures 21 5/8" x 5 3/8" The metal pig which I think is zinc measures 9" x 5" The arrow is cast iron and is straight. The back part of the arrow that the pig stands on is designed with twisted metal. It appears that a piece that originally went to one of the back legs is broken. I have a close up of it in the pictures. As you can see this little piggy was used for target practice and has several bullet holes in his body. The legs. Ears, nose, and tail are intact and the pig is secure on the arrow. It is weathered from lots of years on the barn and the cast iron arrow has some rust. I am guessing this one dates back to the 1920-30's. Antique Lightning Rod Weathervane Arrow Kretzer weather vane
Up for consideration is this stunning 23" Kretzer lightning rod arrow. Made of brass this arrow has a great patina. There is no damage or repairs. The glass is an NOS Kretzer glass that was very difficult to obtain. This is the only modification to this arrow. Also included is the original Kretzer brass ferrule the arrow was mounted on, this also is in great untouched condition, screws work as they should. On my other auctions this week I have listed the pendant hanger and ajax topper that were on the same rod. I personally removed them from a roof and they are new to the market. A bit of research has informed me that Kretzer weathervanes are from the early 1900's. St. Louis seems to be the home of the manufacturer. A few years ago. My brothers and I had the ominous job of cleaning out the farm house and barns our family built in the 1890's. We were thrilled to send one of our much younger limber cousin's up on the roof of the very old house to bring down the lightning rods. Antique Weathervane- Zinc or Tin- Original Lightning Rod Arrow
This is a nice vintage weathervane made of zinc or tin. It may have had a glass piece at one time but I don't see anything that would have held the glass in place- there are no clips or screw holes where clips would have gone. Anyway. The weathervane is in nice shape with normal pitting and wear typical of the age of the piece. I did not try to clean it, I know the patina is important to most people. It measures about 21 inches long. I have another old weathervane arrow on now and will be happy to combine shipping. Thanks for looking.

Antique Cast Iron Lightning Rod / Weathervane Arrow Amber Glass w Globe Ends 20"
I purchased this Lightning Rod Arrow with Amber Textured Glass Tail Insert at a farm estate sale here in rural WV. It is a cast metal probably cast iron and has ornate decorative work. The glass ball had been broken years before and the farmer had tied the ends for the glass ball onto the arrow so I left them. They are some sort of light metal and one has a bend but can be straightened. The arrow measures 20" and I see no damage other than some oxidation and light scraping.

This antique lightning weathervane is made of cast iron with rudy red glass tail. Please see in picture 2 there is damage to the tail. Where one of the iron decorative swirls came off at the bottom. Measures 18 1/2 inches long. There is some rusting. There is slight damage, imperfections to the glass two corners of the glass has been chipped, slightly noticeable, but not large enough to have major damage. There is also an area at the edge there is a spot where its a clear glass that has formed a slight appearance of clouding, it appears to be either manufacturing imperfection in the glass or it got hit by lighting? Up for auction is an antique/vintage weathervane/lightning rod arrow. Age unknown. It appears to be made out of brass. It's getting the greenish blue tint like brass and copper do over a period of time. All original and intact. It measures 17" from tip to tail. The hole is approx 3/4 in diameter. The arrow itself I would say is in good condition for its age. I do not see anything broke but I do see right between the tip of the glass and where the lightning rod goes in where one of the little things comes out just the tip is missing-it would be close to the narrow tip of the glass. Antique Weathervane Arrow Front Cast Iron Heavy Unusual Lightning Rod
Up for auction is an antique weathervane arrow front measuring 14 1/2" in length. This arrow front is cast iron. Very thick, and weights 1 3/4 lbs. This arrow would probably have had a large animal for the back end. This would have been on a cast iron or possibly copper tube and would have fit into this arrow front and been secured with the set screw shown in a picture. The set screw itself is interesting in that it has a square head and is fused to the cast iron. The hole size is about 3/4" wide suggesting this weathervane fit onto a standard tube lightning rod. Offering up for auction an antique lightning rod weather van arrow. It measures 22-1/2 inches long by 4-1/2 inches wide at the glass panel section.
