ANTIQUE CAMEL HUMP BACK STEAMER TRUNK CHEST DOME TRAY WOOD METAL LARGE VICTORIAN This is a really nice and big 1870's Antique Stea mer trunk pa rti ally restored to original magnifice nce. It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side ... morelocking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. Antique VICTORIAN Era Monitor Top STEAMER Trunk w/ Wood Slats CONSERVED/Restored
Beautiful Victorian Era Steamer Trunk. This trunk has been conserved or restored. Has had quite a bit of work, but the only thing that has been added& isn't original to this trunk are the leather handles. Everthing else is original to this particular trunk The trunk had 3 coats of paint that were removed from its exterior. Afterward it is was polished witha metal polish, there is still some patina, after 100 plus years it is almost impossible to remove all of that with just cloth and polish lol The paint was light green and off white. In certain places small remnants of the paint may remain. Without damaging the surface of the trunk it is very hard to totally get it all off. Also I think it adds to the already very rustic beautiful charm of the trunk. It is important to note the color variations you see in the pics on the metal ARE ... moreNOT paint. This is actually a pattern in the metal. One the end pieces I think it is patina and discoloration. But the middle piece on lower portion, and next to end pieces on top, I think it is the way the metal is made. It is very beautiful, and seems purposefully placed There is very gorgeous and unique hardware. There are little flower or star shaped medallions on top of trunk and on the front of trunk The wooden slats have been sanded stained and finished The handles were replaced with strips of 100% leather Interior of trunk was stripped of all inside paper. It has been left natural wood so new owner may leave as is. Or finish out to suit their needs best. One of the most unique things about this trunk is the locks on either end of trunk. And latch in center Normally one most I have seen. There will a latch on both ends, and a lock in center, this one is reversed! Large size 36 x 21 inches and 24 inches tall Great size for a coffee table. Tv stand, statement piece for any room, or as blanket chest or for storage very sturdy. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN 1800s DOME STEAMER TRUNK CHEST WOOD 4 ORIGINAL COMPARTMENTS
We are pleased to offer this very nice. BEAUTIFUL antique VICTORIAN steamer trunk. The chest has a domed top and is wood and metal construction. It features ornate iron hardware and trim and leather side handles. This wonderful trunk has an UNTOUCHED, ORIGINAL INTERIOR. The interior is lined in decoupage fashion. It has 4 compartments that are each defined with a different decoupaged portrait. They lift up(the top compartment lid lowers) for storage but they are not the"lift out" removable type of replacement trays. They are constructed of a heavy cardboard type material and have hooked closing mechanisms. The largest compartment is the lower compartment. It is accessible by lifting the sides of the center compartment. The trunk is very nice and is very much in original condition with very little restoration. The leather handles ... moremay have been replaced at some point as they have an aged patina but are in excellent condition. The trunk has the original locks but has no key. There are two clasp closures with locks on the front with a large center lock. There are 4 small wheels on the bottom of the trunk for easy transport. They are in good working condition. The trunk has no major dents or damage. There are a few minor dings but they are not very noticeable and they do not distract from the beauty of this chest. The interior is aged and is in untouched and unrestored condition. It is quite lovely with no major rips or tears to the decorative paper lining. The trunk measures 30" wide. Though it has been gutted. You could reline this if you wish. Evidence of some moisture damage on the bottom with warp and stains on the wood panels. The outside lid has a black silhouette of dancers. The wood is a walnut? dark stain. Not sure what is the wood. The thickness of the wood around the edges is about 5/8" The bottom panels are thin. This trunk is an unusual size and shape measuring 36.5 x 21.5 x 26 with a top that is not quite flat but not quite domed either. The trunk is in un-restored condition(see condition details for more information) and a nice find with a large amount of decorative embossed tin on the outside. Wood slats going vertically and almost all of the original hardware and latches. Up for bid is a rare original SMALLER antique trunk/chest. It has leather over wood with metal strapping and sitting on four metal roller/wheels. This chest has the original lock.but…no key. It also has the original paper lining with a Victorian style picture on the interior lid. There is also one area where it looks like someone wrote their initials in pencil. The exterior leather is intricately decorated with artwork depicting geometrical designs. The leather is fastened with numerous studs or tacks. Measurements are 25” x 14” x 13” The Bad: This trunk/chest is completely original so shows evidence of its age. Many“bumps and bruises” through the years as you can see in the many pictures I took. Untitled Document Purchased at a recent estate sale in NC full of fine antiques. This beautiful ornate trunk was a nice rare find. It has many exquisite and elaborate details. Please see images. It measures 23" tall. 30" wide and 17.5" deep. A collector's item! Looks great for its age though it does have some wear. The only parts I notice missing on the exterior are one of the leather handles and it did not come with a key. There is a name written on the right side. See photos to judge condition. Antique Victorian Chinese Camphor Wood Trunk Chest Locker Early 1800's or Older This is a beautiful piece. It measure's 37"x19"x16" larger once boxed) and is in really good antique condition. It has a strong patina and the exterior front lock cover has been lost. All of the other hardware. Hinges, handles, corners. And molding braces are in place. It has a scratches and marks all over the outside, but the inside is in great shape. The bottom panel has a crack in it. But it doesn't appear to effect anything. I didn't even see it until I was taking pics of the bottom. It is visible in the pic 8. A few of the previous owners left there names and dates that they owned the trunk during the 1800's. It appears it was passed down through several generations of a family of San Franciscans and San Francisco Bay Area. ... moreI know a little bit about this family through some research. Most of them have an easily traceable history. I am not going to make their names public however. A person of good authority was able to translate the cursive writing under the lid and revealed that the outer trim around the top and bottom of the trunk were installed as protective measures while traveling. Here is what he could make out: These trunk? corners. Top and bottom of trunk can be(revealed, seen, uncovered? by unscrewing the screws and slipping the strips off. Strips only were used while traveling. Here is a little bit more of what this person shared with me: The type of chest you have is the very best. These chests are made by Chinese craftsmen and have invisible dovetails. Incised brass fittings and a floating panel top(to prevent it from splitting in different climates) There was a very active trade with China when San Francisco was a boom town and these chests were brought in by the hundreds. Most have disappeared or are held by descendants of the original owners. The man who did the fitting did it very cleverly– probably a real craftsman who knew what he was doing. Antique Victorian Slightly Arched Wood Slat Steamer Trunk Chest
Up For Sale is this awesome antique trunk. It has M.F.M. initialed on the side. The trunk is very solid and has a lot of character. It is a green color. It only has a slight arch on the top. So it would be great for a coffee table or to store blankets and such. It is good shape for the time and could be easily restored. There is no structural damage. The only damage is that on of the latches is missing some pieces and the leather is worn. Both of the handles are intact, but as you can see in the photo one is coming apart. Up for bid is an extremely rare and beautiful 1800's VICTORIAN WOOD AND CAST IRON HUMP BACK STEAMER TRUNK. This is a old wood trunk that is very majestic in appearance. It is beautifully crafted of an inner wood body covered in beautiful black metal sheet. Fantastic wooden bumper panels on all sides, even more so fantastic cast iron metal work of every latch, hinge, and edge trimming throughout trunk(including bottom which has small cast iron wheels) One of my favorite parts of this gorgeous trunk is the original 1800's lock and latch, it absolutely beautiful. Inside of trunk is extremely spacious and has a very clear, bold original colored illustration of a beautiful Victorian era woman starring off into the distance. The trunk itself measures at 34 1/2" long. 20" wide and 23 1/2" tall, and is what I consider, a larger ... moretrunk. It has aging wear but it has fantastically aged, could be easily used for display or everyday use as well as it is very sturdy and well built. Only thing to repair is one rear hinge that has broken from where it attaches bottom of trunk to lid, but hinge bodies on both lid and bottom are firmly attached to trunk with no damage, it is very fixable as it is a clean break of the thin metal of latch(See pictures) I have given a very accurate description of this astonishing steamer trunk and I have provided pictures of all angles for your viewing and bidding certainty. Here we a Victorian Era children's travel wood trunk with tin overlay. It is in unrestored original condition. Eagle Lock Company U.S.A It is a great looking vintage trunk. Well loved and traveled. The handles are long gone. The right latch does not line up. The bottom has a couple of cracks. This trunk measures 18-1/8" in length. 10-1/2" wide and 10-1/2" tall. This trunk has great character including at least three very old paper lading tags one from Charlevoix Michigan by American railway express. This trunk was well traveled in it's day. When we were inspecting the trunk we noticed what looked like an old stamp stuck to the bottom under a flap of the interior covering. This"stamp" turned out to be a very small picture. Taken obviously in the victorian era, of two adorable children. There is a name or some ... moreword written on the back in pencil so badly faded we are unable to read it. Antique Victorian Dome Top Hump Back Steamer Trunk w/ Tray Embossed Tin& Wood Description: Up for sale is this great old small sized Dome top or Hump Back trunk! This trunk measures 24 1/4" x 14 x about 17" tall. As you can see from the photos on the left this trunk has been painted sometime in its past. The bottom tin is black in color with four embedded wheels near the corners. This leads us to believe that the original color of the tin on this trunk was black. You can see in the closeup that this trunk is covered with an embossed floral patterned tin covering held in place with wood straps with very ornate angle pieces at the corners. This trunk has 2 latches and one hasp type lock. Unfortunately the key for this lock is long gone. The hasps both close snugly but appear to be a little fragile. At one time there were leather ... morehandles on either side of this great old trunk. One side still has a little of the handle left. But the other sides handle is gone. The inside of the trunk is natural wood without any covering. The tray still feels pretty solid. There is one knot hole in a side as shown in the photo and most of the original paper covering is still in place. Please read the item description and review the photos before bidding. This is an antique. Victorian period, child's wood dome top doll trunk. The doll trunk was acquired from the estate of a doll collector and it is in good clean, antique condition. The lid has metal brackets, trim and latches. The exterior of the trunk is covered with a faux wood and metal trim pattern paper. The interior and the tray are covered in a yellow floral pattern paper. A lid on the tray compartment has a picture of a Victorian woman. The tray has an open compartment. Too(no nail holes or other indication that there was ever a lid on this side) The trunk is 14" long x 8" wide x 10" tall. The paper cover on the exterior has darkened with age and there are some cracks and chips in the paper cover. The burlap straps on the tray are missing. The ... morelid's hinge section(burlap and metal? on the back of the trunk is missing. The paper decoration on the interior has some bubbling, tears/cracks and chips. There's a horizontal tear in the paper on the inside of the lid along the wood seam line of the wood lid. This beautiful medium sized Dome Top antique trunk. Is in Good condition, with only minor flaws. It measures 18"H x 26 1/2" L x 14" W. The exterior is stunning. Covered beautifully in a black colored tin. With oak slats, accented with black tin hardware, and a nice brass design, that is very desirable amongst collectors. Both side leather straps are in original condition. All of the hardware is original and no longer fasten. There is no key. The inside is beautiful original wood. Found this unusual. Beautiful and untouched Leather, Iron and Wooden Victorian Era Dome Style Steamer Trunk at a local sale. A huge trunk measuring 36" wide. 30" tall and 23" deep. Decorated with hand applied tacked leather all around, ornate iron and wood, this trunk was made for folks who traveled far and for many weeks or months at a time. A TRIPLE LOCK system is evident on the front, designed to keep their worldly possessions safe. On each side of the trunk there are remnants of labels that provide a visual history of the famous places that this trunk traveled to. There is a label for a hotel in Paris. A label for a baggage cabin on a Cunard Line steam ship, and most interesting.a label for the St. James Hotel in Jacksonville Florida. The hotel was a popular destination for the wealthy in the 1870's and 1880's and ... moreburned in the Great Fire of 1901.never to be rebuilt. Welcome to my ebay store! this awesome piece came from an estate sale of an elderly local antiques collector. I purchase most of her dolls and doll items. This is an awesome unusual definitely unique steamer trunk most likely for a girl to keep her doll clothes in. There is an upper wood tray covered in paper that sits on an inner ledge. The inside of lid is lined with a nice royal blue paper. It definitely has a bit of that musty antique smell that says this piece is old. The Lock has the words Eagle Lock Terryville CT which definitely shows the age and quality of the piece and US made. The trunk is made from wood. With metal strapping, nice metal corner hardware and worn leather straps. The trimming is in Faux grained metal in shades of red and yellow. I haven't seen a trunk like this one online or on ebay. Hello! This is a very old trunk with a metal and wood black-painted frame. On the inside. The wood is lined with a decorative patterned paper and the image of a girl's face-perhaps the girl who owned the trunk. It has a convex/dome top. As well as an inside tray that can come out. Please refer to pictures for age imperfections and detail. The leather handles have since come off. The wheels work alright. There is some staining to the inside. I have owned this beautiful chest for 55 years and have not been as kind as it deserved. I have stored everything imaginable in it and have stained the tray with artist supplies. It measures 34" long and 21 1/2" wide. It goes from 23 to 27 1/2" High at the hump. I am in a five floor walk up which means two strong people to carry it down. Dome top steamer chest/trunk. Bride or wedding trunk, or ship/stagecoach travel trunk. Of wood and metal construction, metal embossed outer layer, wood slat trim, most of the original antique hardware embellishments, a number of the pieces stamped Pat Mar 168(the final number of the patent year didn’t make it onto the hardware, but still indicates the patent dates back to the 1600’s! All the interior compartments are intact. With original linen-type covering over the compartment lids, with original pictorial lithographs and elaborate borders. Original graphic paper lining also intact on the underside of the compartment lids and the bottom section of the trunk– see condition in photos. The spots of discoloration in places may be rust coming through from the metal; bidder to determine. There are 5 compartments in the upper section– two in the ... morelid, and 3 in the top tray which includes one long compartment across the back(try to ignore the glaring blue felt lining in the compartments and bottom of the trunk, but note that I did not lift it to see what’s underneath) Please check all views of the photos for condition of the outer embossed skin/metal/wood(a few dents and splits in the metal but I didn’t see missing sections anywhere) Missing or replaced hardware(looks like a few pieces are missing, the lower front latch may be replaced, leather strap handles replaced and/or missing hardware? maybe some nails/studs replaced– overall minor in my opinion, but I want bidders to review closely and make their own determination) Overall this is in very solid condition, just has the wear and tear and aging of travel and usage. Note that part of one front wheel is missing and needs to be replaced. I didn’t find any markings that would indicate whether it’s from France. I've had this trunk for almost 15 years. It is wood with ornate metal work. Good condition. Very sturdy. Grass green paint. Looks to be the original paint. Inside lid has a whaling ship hand painted on it. Very unique and what drew me to the trunk originally. It was discovered somewhere locally(south central KY) by an older couple in our small town that always dealt in fine antiques. I was in contact with Ken Farmer(Antiques Roadshow) about two years ago and he called this an antique whaling trunk and appraised it for around $1.000-$1500. Measures 35x22x21in.
