I found this Large Cast Aluminum Horse at an estate sale. They didn't know where it came from other than it was their Parents. It looks like it was attached to a weathervane and broke off. I tried to find one like it online but I could not. It is 19 1/2 inches long by 8 1/2 inches high and weighs 1 5/8 pounds. The number stamped in the back looks like 100023. Vintage Antique Weathervane Horse & Rider, Sulky, Great Patina, Copper Brass
This is a wonderful vintage weathervane of a sulky with rider. Trotting horse. It is all copper and brass with great original patina. This F o lk Art weather vane dates to the 19th century. Copper forms are soldered together and the figures are hollow. This is a very large piece. The measurements are 31"W x 16.5"H. One wheel is missing a spoke and two spokes are loose on one end. I can see no other areas that need repair. This has been in a private collection for over 20 years. I do not know the original area that it came from. We had it appraised 10 years ago And the value was $10.000. We had every intention of using it. But never did as we own horses so, of course, our weathervane is of a horse. It has been stored in our garage since gifted and now needs to find a suitable home. Vintage Old and Original Horse Weathervane and Lightning Rod Ball, Neat and Nice
Neat Old and Original Circus Horse Weathervane and Blue Milk Glass Quilt Lightning Rod Ball. Weathervane is called a Circus Horse vane because it has a belly band around the horse's middle. Weathervane is hollow bodied and made in the 1915-20's. The horse is tim metal and the front arrow is old cast iron. Weathervane measures 33 inches long. Horse measures 14 inches long.10 inches tall and about 1 1/8 inches thick. This weathervane style was very popular way back then for the roofs of Barns and old Victorian Homes. Horse was large enough to be easily seen from some distance. This one fit over a 5/8 common lightning rod-the most common rod. The blue milk glass"quilt" ball measures 5 inches wide and 5 1/2 inches tall. It will fit over the common rod or the more fancy twisted star rod. Both items look great together. Antique Vintage Old Large Copper & Brass Weathervane Running Horse Weathervane
This is a beautiful old weathervane. The horse. Directional arrows, and decorative balls appear to be copper. The 3 demensional items are hollow. The horizontal bar under the horse appears to be some other material possibly brass. The verticle rod(black) seems to be steel or iron. I do not know the age, I aquired it at auction in the 80's and thought to add it to a cupola on the barn. This many years later it's still in the garage. This is a very large item and will come disassembled. I'm not sure that I have it assembled correctly but it seems to work. Overall assembled demensions are appx. 45" tall and 31" wide. The Horse is almost 28" wide nose to tail and appx. 13 1/2" tall. There are two decorative balls. Here is a delightful vintage 30-40's wooden house shaped weathervane that is marked MADE IN ITALY. It measures about 6 1/4" high x 7" at the widest and looks to be all wood with very detailed work. It has the look of a chalet style house with kitchen at the first level. And the two figures at the top. On the back it has directions for telling the weather and is in overall good condition, just shows some normal age wear.The only thing that I see that it needs is that it had a little wire or string hooked onto the"couple" and it's missing or off, should be easy to replace, not really sure if it's needed. This weathervane was removed from our victorian home in Hastings. NE. the home was built in the late 1880's. It is made of Copper and has a lovely patina as you can see. Large Vintage 1920s FOLK ART Metal GIRL IN GARDEN WATERING Weathervane
Description ANTIQUE/VINTAGE GARDEN GIRL WEATHERVANE Charming vintage metal silhouette style weather vane measuring 19-1/4" long and almost 9" tall. Featuring a woman in bonnet and period clothing holding a huge watering can with long spout- stylized water pours though the head and quenches several blooming flowers. Metal appears to be either brass or copper- it has a dark patina from age. And it's hard to tell- vane is sturdy and non-pliable- cut outs are mounted into a rather crudely rolled tube base that is held together by three screws- there is a hole in the tube middle bottom for mounting on a vertical stand(no longer present) small holes are pierced in the flower heads and on top of the bonnet. I believe this is a home project, made circa 1920- condition is very good with no bends, breaks or damage other than normal patina ... moreto the metal and although it appears as if a side is missing from one flower, it was made that way- edges are all smooth from age. Just a charming large silhouette image of a woman in her garden- purchased in Ohio, I've had it hanging on the wall for years, but it could easily be mounted for display as a weather vane. Vintage Auth: Solid cast iron weathervane horse with Motion and makers mark
Antique Weathervane Horse. An old barn find.I believe to be the early 1900's or maybe later 1800's? I am not a weathervane expert so I am trying to present the best information I can.The entire weathervane is made of cast iron, since a magnet sticks to all pieces. This weathervane has a great finish from decades of exposure to the elements. Rain, sleet, snow, lightning, and birds. It measures 34" from the top of the horses head to the bottom of the base. The horse is 8"wide by 7"high, and the arrow is 12" wide. There is a makers mark on the bottom of the base but after a month of research, I still don't know who it belongs to. It looks to be made entirely of brass but has oxidation over it. However, the fletching(where the feathers would be) is made of aluminium to catch the wind. I have seen another one of these on ebay before so I know the aluminum part is correct to the vane. There are four old bullet holes in the fletchings part of the arrow. This is shown in the photographs, as is some rust on the steel base mount. The arrow weathervane is in all original condition and came from an old farm building on the Eastern shore of Maryland. Vintage Hammered Aluminum Weathervane- Directionals & Stand- Not Painted
This is an older weathervane. It is the directional and the stand. The stand looks to be hammered aluminum. The feet are adjustable to the angle you need. It is about 14 1/4" tall. The directional is about 12 3/4" long and the letters are about 23/4" long. I do not see any markings on it to know who it was made by or when it was made. It does look to be on the older side because of the defects on it while being made(such as some excess metal not trimmed off around the edges of the letters) It is in excellent condition. Vintage Primitive Folk art Rooster Weathervane folkart
1 Vintage weathervane. I am selling this for a friend who is about 90 years old. He made this quite a few years ago. I thought he said the rooster and arrow was made with either copper or brass. The width across for the direction letters is about 19" and the letters are about 3 1/2" tall. The arrow measures about 22 1/2" across and about 4" tall. The Rooster measures about 8 1/4" tall and about 8" wide. The whole unit measures about 27 1/2" tall. It was painted black white and red. There is a paint crack etc one one side of the arrow. MASSIVE 32" Horse Weathervane/ Lightning rod Antique Vintage Copper Brass Horse measures approx. 31" x 17" and the whole piece measures approx. 33" long x 20" tall. It is being sold as found. It will need to be reattached to the pole. I do not know what the head is made from but it looks like brass(just not positive) and I do not know how old it is but it looks very old. View all of the photos and use zoom and enlarge. There are two small scratches on one side(see the last two photos) I wipes the item with a soft cloth and water to get off the dust. As pictured. Up for auction is this Vintage Horse Featured Weathervane with N-S-E-W Directional. The horse piece is approx 23" long and the directional is approx 19" long and 11 1/2" wide. I pulled them out of the same barn sale. However I'm not sure if they go together, and if they do, not sure how to attach them to each other. I'll leave that to the vintage restorers. The directional has some sort of roof mount on it. The condition is vintage good with some rust on the weathervane, but a nice candidate for some sanding and repainting. Vintage Weathervane Metal Rooster Old Barn Find 9 1/2" Tall
Used old Rooster made of metal found in an old barn. Maybe it went on a weathervane? it is 9 1/2" tall. Thank you for bidding on my auctions. If you'd like to add insurance. Authentic, Early Vintage, Copper Lightening Rod Weathervane
Not a repop. This is the real thing. This came out of my Grandparents' Estate and my step-grandfather, who passed about 10 years ago, was a lightening rod installer from roughly 1940-1980. This was in his garage with a collection of other vintage items, several of which I've already sold to happy collectors! This is a beautiful piece with great copper patina. See pics! Nebraska farm barn CUPOLA weathervane blu ball antique copper vent vintage metal
A nice vintage"medium" size barn cupola from a barn roof in rural Syracuse. Nebraska. Measures 46 1/2" square and about 12 foot tall. Is attached and stands on four 4x4 wood lumbers. Some rusted out spots near crown, underneith, could be primed and stopped. About 10 bullet holes in total. The weathervane is present and removeable. Cast iron& copper weathervane. The animal from the fin of the weathervane is missing. But another may be attached. I supplied the two vintage blue glass balls. There was a horizontal bar under the horse but is now missing. The vertical rod is a copper tube. This item is in need of repair. One bullet hole in the horse. The seams of the horse need re-soldering, one ear is missing. This is a large item and will come disassembled. I'm not sure that we had it assembled correctly but it seemed to fit together. Early vintage Kretzer Lightning Rod Weathervane. Rare piece with glass panel intact. See pics for better idea of condition, but I would say this is very good. The paint looks original as it has a nice patina going, but it is possible that it is a very old re-paint. Looks great nevertheless! I left the patina on the metal and glass undisturbed. Very nice, rare piece. I haven't seen one like it on eBay and I may be underpricing the starting bid, but we'll see where the auction ends up!
