Purchased directly in France from church possessions that were no longer being used. These are beautiful when used inside a home-I have seen them displayed around the master bed in many French Chateaus. Such a grand statement. These are solid wood and heavy and strong and in wonderful condition for their age. They have been totally hand carved/made and all the original old painting has been removed by hand to have all their rich appearance back again. You might still see some areas where the old paint remains however it is minor compared to what was removed. You can view all my large photos to see the fine details and workmanship. You can leave them like ... morethey are or repaint them however you wish them to be. They could be hand painted again very easily however. To me they are extremely rich in appearance the way they are now. You could also add a stain to them. however, again to me these are beautiful and rich the way they are now as shown in all my photos. There are openings. From age, and knicks from age which is totally natural and so so charming. They are a rare find and hope someone treasures them and can use them. They could be used in many ways. Antique Victorian Porch Balustrades Balusters Railing 24" High & 3" wide 1900
Up for sale are antique victorian stype Balustrade from a mansion built in Bath Maine around 1900. It was built by Honory Albert H. Shaw. In 1936 the home was sold after the death of Albert Shaw and became the Sedgwick Inn. The hotel was named after Sedgwick Place. The junction of High St. Centre and Court streets which contained a soldiers momument built to honro Cival War veterans of the Sedgwick Post, Grand Army of the Republic. The post was named after Gen John Sedgwick, the highest ranking officer killed in the war. It burned down in 1973. Information on the mansion was that the front 2 level porch was build of ash. These balusters might also be built of ash- the actual wood used is not known. These balustrade were said to have been salavaged from that building and were later used on another porch. These were acquired by a family member ... morewhen the porch was rebuilt. There are about 30 of these balustrades available for sale and pick up in Wiscasset. Maine 04578. They measure 24" high and are 3" square at the top and base. The condition is good considering the age. There are some chips and gouges and in some area the paint is pealing. I do have pictures of the Inn that does show the these railings. I also have the full history of the family who build the mansion and the history of the property over the years. I can provide this information to any interested buyer. We would be willing to ship a small quantity of say 2 to 4 at an additional cost to cover the shipping. The mount brackets are welded in place, it measures 71" long, the rail is 1 1/4" x 1/2" thick, the 3 wall mount flanges are 3" diameter and each have 3 screw holes to mount to a wall. Heavy and sturdy, all solid so it weight close to 20 lbs and will last a lifetime! Wonderful curl detail at each end, could be mounted on left or right, overall length covers 6 or 7 steps(at my house, but yours may vary) awesome industrial/ institutional design, the paint has perfect patina, aged white over a black layer- i think it looks great, but could easily be stripped or painted to suit your needs. Here is a solid oak newel post that was removed from a home that was built in the 1880's. From the looks if it the original finish is still showing. 2 sides of it had railing(it was mid-way at the turn of the staircase) so there are spots where you can see the outlines of those pieces. In those same areas there are nail holes from mounting(see pics) This is one solid piece of wood that was turned, the finial is not a separate piece that was attached. There are a few nicks and scratches. As well as a few spots of wear on the corners of the post(see pics) but overall it's in great shape. Listed is a nice. Circa 1880's, antique wood porch baluster, or railing piece. These balusters have many uses. The pieces are all the same, but if you turn them on different sides, you can achieve a different look. The approx size of each is: 21" tall, almost 3.5"one one bottom side, and 3 1/8" on the other side. Please keep in mind( if you order more than one) that the length might differ super slightly. you might have to trim one end to have the exact size. Also please keep in mind that these were torn off of a porch and there could be damage and wood loss on the bottoms. Please see photos. The paint is a white shade, slight to no chippy ... morepatina. We bought these spindles for the front porch of our house from an architectural hardware store. Unfortunately. After we got them home we realized that we need more like 60 of them, and the cost of having additional copies made is cost prohibitive. They are a very pretty, traditional design. They are in reasonably good shape for their age but will require some sanding and wood filler in spots. We are willing to ship however the buyer wants and will not charge extra for packing them. We estimate it will cost around $50, possibly less, to ship them.

The face of the stair railing(to the right of the pictures) was enclosed as a wall for a duplex and all original Foyer pieces are present and were behind the wall. All of the Foyer trim and skirting is intact and present and was just enclosed with a wall. Antique Baluster- Circa 1910 Pine with Aged Painted Finish. The dimensions are 1 3/4" x 1 3/4" x 25" This is a great looking piece that has an aged painted finish with great patina. This could be an excellent re-purpose for candle holders or whatever else you might think up! They are in Great condition with a beautiful old patina and are ready for display. Use or restoration. 3 Antique White Pnted Porch Turnings Weathered Naturally to Create Modern Decor.
Tonight's Auction is a group of 3 Antique Balusters- Spindles with chipping white paint and that real rustic look that years have done to them with weathering naturally. Most likely from a tapered outside railing(because of the taper on the turnings end) that belonged to a very old home. They measure about 19 inches long and 1 3\4 inches on the square ends. Great craft and decorating ideas very much in demand in these modern times for old and crude items that time has made ever so slowly and beautifully. ANTIQUE SALVAGE 3 TURNED WOOD FURNITURE DOWELED SPINDLE BALUSTERS
ANTIQUE SALVAGE(3) FURNITURE TURNED WOOD DOWELED SPINDLE BALUSTERS. The spindles are wood and are matching pieces. They are salvaged from antique furniture. Each of the three wood furniture spindles has impressed numbers on the bases-see pics, each wood spindle matches the other-each has a top wooden dowel and one bottom side dowel-see pics. Each measures with dowel included in the measurement approx. 8.25" tall and without the dowel measures approx. slightly less than 7.75" tall, the width with the dowel is approx. 2.5" wide and without the dowel the width is approx. 2 1/16 wide. They are all in very good original condition with some minimal wear and some minimal abrasion, there are no cracks, no chips, no dents, no deep gouges, no stains or water damage, not bent or warped. all dowels present and undamaged. These are wonderful ... morewood furniture spindles which can be re-purposed for an architectural, furniture, or art use. smoke/pet free home. Thank you.
