The longest measuring 16 inches tall and slightly over 2 1/4 inch at the fatest sections of the urn or jug shape. The 2nd piece is 15 inches and this is the spindle which has the split in the one end. Both of these have threaded ends. Neither appear to be painted or stained. The third odd spindle is not quite 14 inches. Does not have threaded open ends, there is an old screw in the bottom end. Lot of 10 Vintage White Shabby Chic Style Architectural Baluster Stair Spindles
Purchased out of a barn behind the house that was holding an estate sale. You are bidding on 10 vintage baluster stair spindles. The contents of the house were being sold by the children of the family that lived there and they have no idea how the stair spindles got in the barn, how they were used or how old they are. As a result I can’t tell you much about them. If you look at the pictures you’ll get a good idea of the condition. I can tell you that there are 10 pieces all together. Eight of the pieces measure 22” long and two have been cut down to 21” in length. Of the two that were cut down. Both ends are in good condition. Of the 8 that are 22” long, one end on three of them shows some damage, which might be why two were cut down. Otherwise they are in nice shabby chic condition. Antique Vintage Hard Wood Balusters Stair Staircase Spindles Lot of 26 This is a lot of 26 hardwood antique stair balusters removed from a building in PA. I am also listing two newel posts that were removed from the same staircase. You can see them in my other auctions. There are 3 balusters that have flat bottoms as opposed to the slanted ones that were going up the staircase. They measure 30 5/8' There are 13 balusters with the slanted bottoms(shown in the middle) They measure 30¼' There are 10 slanted bottom ones(shown on the right) that measure 26 3/4' The'turned area' on ALL of the spindles measures 18' The tops are 1 3/4" square. Two of the flat ones have a piece gone at the tops from being removed from the railing. I have taken a photo of that section to show the wood grain so that it could possible ... morebe identified. These balusters are heavy and the grains are close together unlike a pine. The wood is not soft. These are dusty(I have not cleaned them) and a few have nails. Antique Vintage Victorian Wood Architectural Porch Railing Balustrade Fence 114"
This auction is for one(1) antique vintage victorian wooden architectural porch spindled fence rail balustrade. It was removed from our 1896 Victorian home as part of a remodeling project. I have no idea in what year this particular porch balustrade was installed on the house. Meaning no way for me to know whether it was an original or a replacement somewhere down the line. I only know the year the house was built, and that the rails were here when we bought it. It is 114 inches long. The top and bottom rails that are held together by the balusters are 3.5" wide. There are 14 spindles that make up the balustrade, with 6 13/16" gaps between each one. The squared-off portions of each spindle are 1 3/8" x 1 3/8" Each spindle/baluster is 26.5" tall. From the top of the top rail to the bottom of the bottom rail, the height ... moreof this piece is 29.5" I've also included pictures of the house when it was still installed before we removed it. Vintage Porch Railing, Banister, Balusters, Architectural
I recently salvaged this railing from my boyhood home just before it was demolished. The house was built in 1923. And my Dad kept the railings(and everything else) in good repair. It was painted several times over the years, and is reasonably sound for being outdoors for 90 years. It was quite sturdy when I removed it from the porch. It's 101 inches long and 25 inches high. The top rail is 3 3/8 Inches wide by 2 3/4 Inches deep. There are 22 balusters, each 18 1/2 inches long and 1 3/4 inches square at the ends. For anyone doing a restoration or faithful reproduction, this is a priceless treasure with a rich heritage. Notice that it's listed for pickup only because of the weight and size. Reclaimed from a central Pennsylvania home. 1 45"H newel, 62 spindles, of which 15 are 28 1/2"L and 47 are 32"L, 4 lengths of banister 138" for the landing, another 80" section for the landing, 148" for the stairs, and 40 3/4" again for the stairs.
