Up for auction is an Antique New York Stoneware Deep Blue Flower Design 4 Gallon Crock. The New York Stoneware Co and the number 4 is impressed. The flower design is a very dark cobalt blue. Each side has an applied elephant ear handle. Circa: 1859- 1885. Fort Edward. NY) Measurements: 11 1/4" tall. 11 1/2" in diameter at the top. Base 11" in diameter. Floral decoration is about 5" wide X 6" tall. The blue floral decoration has dots and circles. Condition: This crock is being sold AS IS. This is a solid crock but it has issues. Large Blue decoration has excellent dark cobalt blue color but has a chip at the top branch. Shown in picture 2. There is a large chip at the rim above the ear handle, picture 8. The same ear handle has a chip underneath the handle, shown in the same picture. On the outside, there is a spider ... morehairline that starts on the bottom and runs up the side, see close-up picture in picture 5, 10& 11. I would not trust this crock to hold water. There is one small chip in the dark brown glaze on the inside, last picture. Picture 5 shows a raised dark spot on the outside which appears to be from the manufacturing process. See all pictures. Up for bid is an early Dutch tin-glazed pottery tankard with a pewter lid. Almost certainly 18th century, likely Delft. The piece is 6 ½ inches tall to the top of the thumbpiece, and 5 inches from handle tip to spout. The body is a buff-colored pottery, painted in a thick crackly blue and glazed over. A shield-shaped reserve in the front has double bird heads and reads“1/2/ KAN/ S” The piece has its original thin pewter lid with thumbpiece, hinged to a band of pewter clamped around the top of the handle. The lid is faintly engraved with a Roman numeral“XI” or“IX” Condition on the piece is fair. There are several small patches where the glaze has chipped away. Namely on the spout and handle. There is a fairly large interior chip with a hairline glaze crack down into the interior. AAFA-This auction is for a very pretty old salt glazed crock with a blue floral design. It is in great condition with only one very minor and very tight hairline on the bottom that does not go through. There are some minor issues that happened during or before firing. They are shown in pictures 7 and 8. There is also a divet or dent in the side where the firing issues are as if the clay was dented when it was made as shown in picture 2. This doesn't take away from the integrity of the crock and doesn't show when turned to the back. Pictures 1 and 4 look very light compared to the rest. The crock is actually the darker more brown color. There is an area where the pigment is lighter as shown in ... morepicture 2. There is a number 1 so this is a gallon crock. Flowers and fruit, using colours in shades of greens, blues and purples. This came from an enthusiast in antique Islamic items. The bowl measures 9" in diameter at the widest point in the middle including the handles, and stands 6.5" high. It measures 6" in diameter at the top. It appears to be in good condition, with wear commensurate with age, but no chips, or cracks etc.

Up for auction is a huge antique stoneware churn. It is heavy and measures a little over 16 inches tall. I don't know the maker or exact age it was bought second hand. It has a stenciled or stamped number four on it. It has a few chips on it and some kind of white stain that appears to be paint it probably could be scraped of. A wonderful Arts& Crafts pottery pitcher and 2 cups. Incredible blue/green matte glaze. MINT as far as damage; No chips. No hairline cracks, no repairs. I must point out there is some dirt/dust or grime in the bottom of the cups and pitcher and inside sides of pitcher. Some crazing in the glaze. Difficult to photograph the wonderful color of these. The white pottery underneath appears to be porcelain. These are thrown. No markings. The glaze is a mottled blue/green with some drips and one side of the pitcher has a feathered effect due to the glaze. These came out a fine portland. Oregon estate of Arts& Crafts pottery. I was assured they are C1910-1920 and were displayed by the great-grandfather of the person selling them, for years in his hutch and then handed them down in the family, we were told they were from England. I thought ... morethey were new when first seen because of bright colors and condition but upon further inspection of the build up of dirt/grime in the bottoms and inside side of pitcher I feel this these are old but in just wonderful/loved condition. These six matching plates are in lovely condition. With no chips, cracks or hairlines, and considering that after over 200 years the set has not been separated or broken, one can only imagine are a rare find! Part of what might account for the integrity of the set is that they were purchased in England in the 1950s by an American antique dealer, and shut away well packaged in a warehouse until just recently. Each plate measures 10" 23.4 cm) in diameter. These plates are thinner than a lot of plates from this time and feel good to hold. These plates are not marked, as many of the early ones were not. The rim of each plate has a lovely fruit and flower border with grapes, melons, apples, stylized foliage and flowers with large pistols. The scenes are in a hexagonal frame laced with tiny swirls. These scenes were of great interest during ... morethe Regency Period(1790 to 1815) which gave way to sporting scenes and then floral motifs as the 19th century moved on. Spode was a leader in all patterns at the time, and also shared their engravings by Thomas Milton, taken from three volumes of"Views of Asia,Etc. The Clews Pottery, Swansea, Baker, and Bevins& Irwins were just some of the other potters that had access to Spode's patterns. Views that were implemented included those from Egypt, Palestine, The Ottoman Empire,Rhodes,Cypress, Corinth, Carthage, Tripoli, Constantinople, Rome and Greece.Great liberties were taken with the flora and fauna of each place. These particular plates depict a temple with an arch, a camel and several people, with palms, mountains and sailboats in the background. I have seen this pattern, only once before, a 4" by 6" oval platter, marked $195.00, that was unmarked as well. Each plate has three tiny marks on the front and back that are left from the apparatus used to stack and separate each plate during firing in the kiln, that are to be expected. The bottle is in good condition for its age(approx. 350 years old) with some expected repairs to the rim. The gold paint and glazed blue color appear throughout the bottle(although some photos seem as if the motifs are partially dark blue and partially gold. This is a result of the flash and all of the motifs are outlined in gold) Some of the animals and plant motifs are more pronounced than others. Blue on White Chrysanthemum Hand-Decorated Shaker, Oriental, Looks Tin-Glazed
We are selling a single hand painted salt shaker. It has a nice blue color on a white ceramic body that looks like flow-blue color on white tin-glazed pottery. The glaze is relatively thick. The oriental-looking design is that of a blue flower(possibly a chrysanthemum) and related leaves and branches on a white base. There is no mark on the bottom. The shaker has 13 holes in the top that look to be hand-pierced. The shaker is about 2 ¾ inches tall and about 1 7/8 inches wide on the bottom. There are no cracks or chips. There are some small brown specks in the glaze that appear to be firing bubbles(which is what leads us to believe it is tin-glazed) These range from the size of a pin head to just pin pricks.
