Selling ONE lot of 26 porch spindles These are NOT the tradition porch railing spindles- but instead components that went to a very ELABORATE porch entrance surround. Salvaged in western, PA- outside of Pittsburgh- they were part of a very large, ornate- nearly bubble formed surround on a grand victorian home. When I bought the contents of this porch surround I was promised the pictures to see it prior to demo- unfortunately this never happened& I never received the pictures. While it was not ideal to parce out the components to this porch set- these balusters. As other pieces from the porch- COULD BE USED individual in another restoration project- or repurposed for art/furniture projects. They have a creamy yellow paint on them. Lot of 8 vintage wood porch or stair spindles/ turnings w/ finials craft salvage This lot is unusual in that the spindles all have a matching finial on the top. Not sure what they were used for. They all were set in a square opening at one time. They have square tops and bottoms, with turned areas in between, and the finial is separate. Some of the finials are loose, could be glued on. They were once stained and varnished, show some wear from use and storage, not bad and could be used as is, or easily be stripped and refinished or painted. Not sure of the type of wood, maybe pine. Each is 28.5" long, including the finial, the square areas are 1 3/4" A fun set for upcycling and crafts. Please ask any questions before bidding to insure satisfaction with the items. Antique 21" Tall solid wood 1880's porch baluster railing spindles white paint
Hi this auction is for ONE antique spindle/baluster. I have 15 to list. And I will combine. Please wait for an invoice if buying more that one.I will ship the best and most economical way. Listed is a nice. Circa 1880's, antique wood porch baluster, or railing piece. These balusters have many uses. The pieces are all the same, but if you turn them on different sides, you can achieve a different look. The approx size of each is: 21" tall, almost 3.5"one one bottom side, and 3 1/8" on the other side. Please keep in mind( if you order more than one) that the length might differ super slightly. you might have to trim one end to have the exact size. Also please keep in mind that these were torn off of a porch and there could be damage and wood loss on the bottoms. Please see photos. The paint is a white shade, slight to no chippy ... morepatina. These come from a home in St John Michigan. From the same house I have the antique porch columns listed in another auction. I do not know if these balusters were original to the home. 40 victorian porch baluster spindles 2.75" x 20" antique full set FREE SHIPPING
We bought these spindles for the front porch of our house from an architectural hardware store. Unfortunately. After we got them home we realized that we need more like 60 of them, and the cost of having additional copies made is cost prohibitive. They are a very pretty, traditional design. They are in reasonably good shape for their age but will require some sanding and wood filler in spots. We are willing to ship however the buyer wants and will not charge extra for packing them. We estimate it will cost around $50, possibly less, to ship them.
