Heavily carved oak newel post & 3 others circa late 1800s
First let me state I believe the wood is oak but iam not sure.The carved newel post is a true work of art restore it back to original wood and this is a fine piece of period workmanship.To have this item made would not only cost a fortune but possibly could not be duplicated.The other posts where at the ends of the staircase at the 2nd and 3floors they are 87-85-79 inches tall by 5 inches wide with cut outs as pictures show.The front carved post is 60x6-1/2 with cut out at bottom 44 inches from top point take a good look at the pictures this has fine detail hidden under paint.Its a true winner all the way for any other info email or call Vinny 1-631-300-7403 thanks.

Here is a beautiful Art Nouveau sculpture from about 1900. It is titled on the base on a metal plaque"LA ROSE" indicating a French origin. Gorgeous woman in flowing robe standing on a lily pad. Holding a mirror in one hand and rose in the other. Made of white metal, it has an original patination mimicking bronze. Measures 19" tall. Condition is excellent, no chips, cracks, damage or losses. There is some wear to patinated finish, as shown on legs of woman, etc. Nice weighted base. This is a high quality sculpture preserved in wonderful original condition. Although this was never wired for a lamp, it is the style of diaphanous women statues used on newel posts at the Belle Epoque. Unsigned as far as I can see. Beautifully carved out of a quality hard wood possibly walnut(not to good at identifying woods) Of unusual shape with a nice old patina. Minor natural wear at the top. Fir Newel Staircase Post Baluster Bannister Pillar Circa 1940 Vintage Lot#1 Measurements: 56 ¼” x 3 3/8” x 3 3/8” Notch on one side of end is 9 3/8” x 1/2” Weight: 4.715 kg(10 lbs. 6.3 oz. This listing is for one pre-owned post– the long one shown on the left side in the last picture. It is is solid fir wood and in very good. Reusable condition with no repairs or major cracks. It does have some scuffs from use, some nail and screw holes, and the bottom ¾” or so, is rotten and would need to be trimmed off. The original finish looks like several layers of varnish without a stain underneath. Would be easy to refinish or paint. I estimate it dates to circa 1940. This is a very fine antique Victorian Oak Newel Post Circa. 1870's. It has been both turned and carved. The dimensions are 48 1/2" in height by 7" in width. Condition overall is excellent. Weight is around 60 lbs and I am charging a flat rate of $75 for shipping but will return any unused funds to the buyer.
