Antique Vintage Oak Newel Post Late 1800's Solid Oak 'Acorn' Finial #1
Here is a solid oak newel post that was removed from a home that was built in the 1880's. From the looks if it the original finish is still showing. 2 sides of it had railing(it was mid-way at the turn of the staircase) so there are spots where you can see the outlines of those pieces. In those same areas there are nail holes from mounting(see pics) This is one solid piece of wood that was turned, the finial is not a separate piece that was attached. There are a few nicks and scratches. As well as a few spots of wear on the corners of the post(see pics) but overall it's in great shape. The bottom is heavily notched, and there is still spots of over-paint on the post. See all photos for condition. This is a beautiful staircase set which dates to the late 1800s from a brownstone home in Harlem Newyork.It has a super nice lnewel post which is around 62 inches tall and 51 inches with a notch out for handrail and a small cutout at base for stepThe long handrail is around 10ft long-the handrails are very nice at around 4 inches wide and 5 inches high with a grove in it for hand to wrap around.They are not the common handrails you find and the balusters are very different as pictures show they are super nice.There are appxt 15 balusters which are 30 to 31 inches tall all depends how much you sink into bottom of handrail.They are also around 4 inches wide my guess is that it is walnut or chestnut its a very darker wood but this is only my guess.I also have other sets from a home that was next door which is almost identical but made of I believe ... moreoak and another listing for walnut or chestnut again only a guess.In this listing it is for what I have listed the other listings can be seen in my ebay store.I also added a picture of the other sets i have listed but this is for only 2 posts-1 handrail and 15 beautiful balusters with some nicks and dings here and there but mist are complete but remember they are over 100 years old Total balusters with the other listings are around 65 with more handrails and newels.This item is large and heavy so a pickup is ok but shipping will only be done if you can provide a shipper to pickup from my home.For any other info email or call Vinny 1-631-300-7403 thanks.

19th Century Virginia Turned Walnut Newel Post Architectural Antique
Nice walnut turned newel post from a Virginia antebellum house. I purchased this post for a project but ended up not using it. It is 6" diameter at the base and 39.25" tall(not counting the 1" diameter piece in top center. The dark spots are from me using a wet rag to highlight the wood so that the photos show the walnut. The post has been painted a few times and needs to be stripped and finished. The post is also split. As some do, because they are turned from central part of the log. The split starts about 16" from the top, and gets deeper towards the bottom. At its deepest point, the split is 1.5" deep and.25" wide. It is a stable and old split and could be left alone. Good luck

Pair Vintage Steel Cast Iron Handrail Porch Stair Hand Rail Baluster Newel Post
Penn Antique Restoration. Pair of Vintage Steel Handrails. What a rare find! Beautiful. Vintage handrails salvaged from Northeastern, PA. The rails are made of aluminum and the rest of the parts are steel. The tubing of the posts is hollow and the decorative motifs are cast. We didn't personally remove them. But we could see that the ends of the rails were cut off from wherever they were installed. The posts were anchored to the ground with bolts that were inserted through the base plates. Aside from small nicks and scuffs. All parts are in great shape with no breaks, cracks, dents, or gouges. They are strong, sturdy, and ready for another lifetime of service.
