These heart pine staircase balusters were rescued from a home built in 1844 on Main Street. Edgefield S.C. torn down for a car wash! They are 24" over all. The bases are 1 3/4" square and each end is angle to accommodate standard stairway slope. Have indicated local pickup only but will ship for actual shipping cost. Condition is excellent and light cleaning and refinishing is all that is needed on these historic pieces. Use for original purpose or re-purpose for table legs etc.

This Buy It Now auction features flat wooden balusters removed from a 19th century house in Mathews County. VA. This listing is for 25 balusters, with free shipping. While the balusters came from the same front porch railing, they are not absolutely uniform in size as they were hand made. They range in length from 23 1/2" to 23 3/4" and are approximately 4 11/16" to 4 7/8" wide at the ends. They range from 13/16" to just under an inch thick and weigh about 1 1/2 lbs. each. Four of the balusters have a smaller(1 1/4" cutout in the center. The rest of the balusters have cutouts that measure 1 5/8" Please let me know if you have a preference. 13 Antique Ash / Oak Turned Spindles Balusters Architectural Salvage
13 antique turned spindles made of either oak or ash. The finish is original. So it is worn and scratched. There are chips, scratches and wear and tear to the edges. The spindles were salvaged from an old house about to be torn down. All spindles are 27 1/2 inches long. 6 of the spindles measure 1 1/2 inches by 1 1/2 inches at the top square part, the other 7 are slightly larger and measure 2 inches by 2 inches.

Antique Wrought Iron scroll work 1920's; mixed panels copper coated reclaimed
This is a beautiful historic antique pieces reclaimed from an interior stair railing of a public school near Pittsburgh PA. We have personally used elements from this rail for several projects making railings. Gates, and even a head board for a bed. The possibilities are endless-let your imagination run wild. You aren't going to find this type of workmanship very often. We are listing other rail elements separately so take a look at our other lots. Originally these were all attached to the railing by rivets which I had to scarf off with a torch. So the ends may need to be cleaned-only the one is broken. Each piece has two holes for connecting at the top and bottom and could easily be fastened to a wooden or metal frame with screws or welded to steel. It doesn't weld as nice as modern steel but it still finishes pretty good-if you ... moreknow what you're doing. As shown there are a mix if sizes the three large ones are straight 31 x 2.5 inches thickness of all is 3/4. The shorter pieces are about 21 inches long. It had a lot of white and green paint chipping off. That scraped or brushed off easily. By wire brushing the black looking tarnish comes off and the pieces start to show their original bright copper finish-these were interior pieces but some may still have acquired rust but none are unusable. The original copper coating must have used some sort of dip or electroplating method. It still shines through after all these years on most of the pieces. I'm basing the age on the architecture of the building in which they were reclaimed. It was out of a really magnificent public school building that had been built in the 20's and sat empty for decades until it was recently renovated. Originally these were all attached to the railing by screws so the tops and bottoms are tapped. About half of the screws are broke off and would have to be drilled and retapped. Or they can be welded onto steel. It doesn't weld as nice as modern steel but it still finishes pretty ... moregood-if you know what you're doing. It had a lot of white and green paint chipping off. That scraped or brushed off easily. By wire brushing the black looking tarnish comes off and the pieces start to show their original bright copper finish. They must have used some sort of dip or electroplating method. It still shines through after all these years. I'm basing the age on the architecture of the building in which they were reclaimed. It was out of a really magnificent public school building that had been built in the 20's and sat empty for decades until it was recently renovated. 36 beautiful turned wood spindles/ balusters salvaged from an antique staircase. I believe they are oak. They are about 25" tall and cut on an angle. The square bases measure 1 3/4" There is one baluster that is taller(see photos. Baluster shown at left side of lot) They have a light grey painted/ pickle finish but much of the wood grain does show through. They are in great shape, can be sanded and stained or left as is! But I found some awesome pieces regardless, and I’ll be going to my favorite flea market this weekend, so I’ll have a boatload of items, fingers crossed, that will be new. I appreciate your business! Here is a lovely antique cast iron baluster or pediment. It has a double rose and leaf design and a shabby old worn coat of black paint. Perfect for your decor indoors or out in the garden. It measures 16 1/8" tall, 7 1/2" wide, a little over 1/2" thick, and it weighs a hefty 5 1/4 lbs. It's in excellent solid and sturdy condition overall- not a wiggle or a jiggle. I'm showing in photos 3, and then both sides in photos 11& 12, that there is a diagonal vertical ... morecrack on one of the three horizontal irong pieces that run across the center of the piece. It's the one on the top if you have the piece standing as I do. I pushed hard, and there's absolutely no movement there. I thought I saw one on the center one too, but I only see it on one side, and it's much shorter- I do believe that that one is a crack. No other cracks that I can find. There's looooots of shabby wear to the paint, and you can see spots of surface rust where the metal is exposed- it's surface only. There's teenie light shallow pits that can be seen in the iron in some spots. The piece is barn fresh dirty, and needs a good bath- I have not cleaned or messed with the as found patina in any way. Really great reclaimed wood balusters. They are 21 inches tall and flat on one side. 15 of the 17 are on good condition. The other two have chips on the front. Please see pictures! Please see pictures as they are an important part of the description. Photos show two of the balusters but there are 24 in all- 12 offered in this sale. Due to damage to the rail itself. Some if the twelve balusters may have softness towards one of their ends due to how they were stored. The softness is only about 1" or so up from their ends so it can be cut off. Some of the bottoms have chunks of wood detached or missing where the grain lines separated. All have multiple layers of paint on them; creamy white underneath the latest coat of gray/green. The paint is peeling off in thick layers in some ... morearea and not at all in other areas. There is still a lot of use left in them otherwise I wouldn't be listing them. Great for a railing project, decorative railing, arts and crafts project, photography. The balusters have a nice distressed look to them. With diamond and triangle or half diamond cut outs. They measure about 17.75" tall, 5.5" across at the top and bottom, and the width is about 1.25" deep. EACH baluster weights about 1 lb 10 ounces. I have not cleaned these balusters but they are not very dirty. They were stored on a porch out of the rain and are in quite good shape for repurposing. As mentioned previously. Two are 31" and the other two are 27" This does not include the portion at the bottom which would be in the base of the stair. They are in great condition and just show minor wear. antique victorian empire baluster banister stair rail wooden spindles 15 feet
antique victorian or earlier baluster banister& spindles. salvage from an old house. not walnut not cherry. it is the color old cherry would be so it is probably poplar. There are two lengths. the longest banister piece is 98" with 8 spindles. the other one is 90" with 7 spindles. thats a total of over 15 feet. the 15 posts are 29" long total& the square sections are 1 7/8" there are 14 spacer pieces, they are 8 3/4" long. the banister is 4" wide side to side. one post is broken. all of it is in pieces because it fell apart when it was removed. it is a puzzle so if you are the carpenter you are going to have to fit it together& make it work for your space. it is in columbus ohio 43201. near OSU. contact me if you would like to see it. pick it up send a truck or a shipper. you have the measurements, ... morethe weight is heavy, no i didnt try to weigh it. the spots in the pics are the sun. it needs to be cleaned& at least parts needs a new finish. Great old solid hardwood stair spindle that we believe to be walnut. We have 10 available at the start of this listing. They have very decorative turnings and a fluted center column. This is a great looking Curved Victorian style complete staircase with all pieces shown and is ready for re-installation(the third floor landing square balustrade is not included- see pictures) The curved section features bowed treads and risers. As well as a flared outside stringer making this a very ornate and special staircase! The entire staircase is oak and the risers, skirt boards and balusters are fir and the balusters have been grain painted oak. The entire staircase has the original shellac(varnish) finish that has an absolutely beautiful patina. The dimensions are 187 1/2" in length x 55 1/2" width at landing tread x 43" width at top step.
